I first posted this in the SRP, but technically it belongs here in the ORP, so I am posting it here to see if it appeals to potential co-writers.

I've been doing YJ/TT threads on and off for over eight years, but I would like to have an RP with a group of talented, dedicated writers that we can keep going for a long time. I've used a number of different settings for my previous RPs, but this one may be a little different. I am, of course, open to suggestions for what potential co-writers would want to see and what would draw their interest.

Unlike my last few versions and the YJ cartoon, I want to have our team of heroes be separate from the Justice League -- they don't take orders from Batman or any of the League. Dick Grayson is no longer on speaking terms with Batman, ditched his Robin mantle, and headed out to Los Angeles. He created a new superhero identity as Nightwing, and threw himself into fighting the gangs and crimelords in LA. Until he forms a team with other young heroes and has friends again, he has practically no social life. Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) broke his heart and Batman crushed his soul, so he left Gotham behind and has kept to himself since arriving in California.

I will also be playing Superboy and perhaps a younger version of Hal Jordan. I have an overall idea for the world, which has not yet seen a Green Lantern on Earth. I am working out some details and will share more soon, I just wanted to get this going to try and garner interest.

Miss Martian, Beast Boy, and the other Robin characters are currently on hold for other writers until we work out exactly who they will be playing. Other than myself, we currently have Sean Renaud, Remec, and Tight_n_Ready as active writers.

Here are some of the important things to know about my version of the DC Universe:

  • Magic exists, but it has more of a scientific basis: A huge meteor shower rained down over the Mediterranean Sea thousands of years ago, and these space rocks eventually made their way onto the shores of northern Africa and southern Europe. The material emitted an alien radiation that altered the brains of a small percentage of the humans who encountered them, allowing them to harness elemental and physic energies. They were the first magic-wielders of Earth, and became the gods and demons of mythology.

  • They learned to create structures and artificial environments within pocket dimensions, such as Atlantis, Themyscira, and a Hell-like prison for demons known as the Abyss.

  • The space rock was broken down and refined into a material that was used to form powerful magical artifacts (Nth metal), such as the Helmet of Nabu and the Wings of Khufu.

  • The demon lord Trigon began killing off the magical bloodlines to absorb their power, forcing some of the pocket dimensions to close themselves off to protect their citizens. Those who remained to fight Trigon were able to drag him into the Abyss, but at the cost of their own lives. After this event, there were only a handful of people left with any magical ability, and the powers of these few bloodlines weakened over the generations to the point that magic was impossible without constant exposure to Nth metal.

  • In 1928, a team of archeologists uncovered a tomb filled with magical artifacts in Bialya, including the Helmet of Nabu and the Wings of Khufu. The items had been locked away many centuries prior, though it was unknown who. The archeologists used the artifacts to become superheroes, and others joined them, fighting crime throughout the 1930s as the Justice Society of America.

  • The JSA were dragged into World War II in early 1942, and most of them died in 1945 during their final battle with the Spears of Destiny, a Nazi-allied team of supervillains led by Wotan and Vandal Savage.

  • A new surge of heroes and villains emerged in the summer of 2005 as a result of a prototype particle accelerator malfunctioning at S.T.A.R. Labs in Metropolis, Delaware. It caused an explosion and a massive storm of electrically-charged particles to spread out over the eastern United States, giving rise to thousands of new metahumans. J'onn J'onzz -- an alien secretly observing humanity -- felt obligated to aid the new heroes rising up, and appeared as the Martian Manhunter.

  • The Metahuman Crisis caused pocket dimenions such as Atlantis and Themyscira to rejoin the world.

  • In 2007, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Batman, Green Arrow, Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman joined together to form the Justice League of America. They were soon joined by Black Canary, Shazam, and Zatara, boosting the team to ten members.
  • In 2008, the Justice League was granted a U.N. charter and built the Hall of Justice in Washington D.C. as their official headquarters.

  • In January 2015, Dick Grayson had a falling out with Batman and Batgirl, leaving Gotham behind for Los Angeles and becoming Nightwing.

It is now six months later. In recent weeks, Nightwing has been investigating a mysterious organization known as Project Cadmus, and has pinpointed it to a secret facility out in the Mojave Desert. Not wanting to involve Batman or the Justice League, but needing a team to help him infiltrate the building, he has reached out to some of his former acquaintances, who have agreed to come out to L.A. and meet with him. They also bring a few heroes Dick has never met before, and a new team is born.

Nightwing

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/Nightwing_Young_Justice.jpg

Real Name: Richard “Dick” Grayson
Age: 19
Birthday: June 22nd
Birthplace: Gotham City, New Jersey

Skills

Dick possesses the peak athletic strength and endurance of a man who regularly engages in extensive physical exercise. His martial arts skills rival those of Batman, and he was rigorously trained by his mentor in everything from escapology to criminology, fencing, stealth, disguise, and numerous other combat/non-combat disciplines. He is fluent in a number of languages and had the finest education as Bruce Wayne's ward.

Gear/Equipment

Dick has a number of gadgets in his utility belt, including shuriken that explode on contact, a pen that shoots out a tiny tracking device that sticks to any surface, and several dozen modified batarangs (called wingblades) along with de-cel jumplines and gas capsules to reach the tops of buildings.

He has a state-of-the-art motorcycle complete with an onboard computer and built in wifi, as well as a helmet that connects wirelessly to the computer with audio and video feedback and communications capabilities. The helmet also has nightvision and a heads-up display on the inside of the visor.

His costume is made of a version of the Nomex fire-resistant, triple-weave Kevlar-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and also insulated against electricity. The suit he wears is also fireproof, and his mask is held in place with spirit gum.

Powers/Abilities

Dick has no superhuman powers, and relies solely on technology and his own wits.

Background

When Dick was nine, his parents were killed by Tony Zucco, a gangster who demanded protection money from Haly's Circus, where the Graysons performed. When Mr. Haly refused, Zucco murdered his star performers.

Bruce Wayne had been good friends with John and Mary Grayson and had been named as Dick's godfather, so the boy came live at Wayne Manor. It was only a matter of time before the boy discovered Wayne was Batman, and soon he too was learning to fight crime and took on the alias of Robin.

During his years as the Dark Knight's sidekick and apprentice, Dick met many other heroes, and even started a relationship with Batgirl (Barbara Gordon). They dated on and off for a few years, until Dick left for Los Angeles.

Superboy
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/Superboy_zpsa086658d.png
Real Name: Conner Kent
Age: Appears 18
Birthday: March 1st
Birthplace: Project Cadmus facility

Gear/Equipment/Abilities

Being a Kryptonian/Human hybrid, Conner can absorb solar energy through his cells to super charge his physical capabilities, although he is nowhere near as powerful as Superman. Superboy's powers will improve with experience, though at first, his abilities include enhanced strength, speed, and stamina. Eventually he will learn to use his solar energy more efficiently to attain greater strength and even fly. He does not have any vision powers, but he does have heightened senses and an accelerated healing factor that keeps him from aging.

Background

Conner was born in a test tube, cloned from Superman's DNA and an anonymous human donor. He was force-grown rapidly, aging from infancy to adulthood in about four months. Dubbilex and the other genomorphs helped him mature through psychic lessons and implanted images and sounds, but he had never been out of the lab prior to his liberation by Nightwing and the others.

Green Lantern

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o178/TheJeffinator/gl1_zpsb32448db.png

Real Name: Harold "Hal" Jordan
Age: 21
Birthday: May 18th
Birthplace: Miami, Florida

Gear/Equipment/Abilities

The Green Lantern power ring allows Hal to project blasts of green energy or hard-light constructs that can be used as weapons and other objects. It also gives him the ability to fly and when synced with the battery cell, it can access a subspace communications and information network reserved for Green Lanterns.

Background

Hal knew he wanted to be a pilot from the time he could walk. He studied hard and finished high school early, earning himself entrance to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado when he was still seventeen. Shortly after his twenty-first birthday, Hal graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, and before he knew it, he was enrolled in an advanced flight training course at Edwards Air Force Base near Los Angeles. Little did he know that a little green ring would soon change his life forever.

Not to jinx your story, so I'll not say that I'm interested. Since your using young characters, you would not be able to fit me in anyroad :D

But I will follow this if it gets launched, not the OOC though, but the IC. I tend to get behind on OOC's

Ah, don't like the younguns, eh? What age would you want for a character if you did join?

Okay, had a female PM me about this RP, so hopefully we'll now have two hunnies :). When I get home from work in the morning I'll finish up my description of this version of the DC Universe and get it posted. Its hard to convey what I have in mind without making it overwhelming or fucking seventeen paragraphs long, lol. I need to chop off a few chunks and rewrite parts to get the point across in as few words as possible.

FIRST APP POSTED!

Whoop whoop!

http://images.wikia.com/majestic-guardians/images/b/b6/Miss_Martian1.png

Real Name: Megan Morse (M'gann M'orzz)
Age: 18

Personality:

M'gann M'orzz is an exceptionally sweet and caring young Martian girl, who is enamoured with life on earth. Her entire personality seems to be based on female characters from sitcoms from a bygone era. This isn't to say that she comes off as old fashioned, rather she is incessantly perky and cheerful; not enough to make her annoying but more than enough to make her stand out in a crowd.

Despite her constant "research" into earth culture, M'gann can still be surprised by the customs and actions of humans. At times this makes her appear to be somewhat scatterbrained and confused.

Gear and Equipment:

Her costume closely imitates that of her uncle's. It has a white short-sleeved top that has a large red "X" criss-crossed over the chest. She wears a red belt with a solid gold circular buckle around her slim waist, and a short blue skirt as well. A matching blue cape, gloves and ankle high boots completes her ensemble.

For covert operations, she wears a black form fitted body suit with the same red "X" laid across her chest. Her cape shifts to a much darker shade of blue, and gains a fitted hood that she wears over her head to cover her auburn locks.

Powers:

Like all martians, M'gann has complete and utter psionic control over every molecule that makes up her physical body. This control grants her a malleable form that can alter its shape at her every whim. Theoretically, she can contort her physical structure into various shapes, elongate and/or grow extra limbs, or even alter her natural shape and colour to appear human. Mimicking a human form requires a certain degree of concentration and skill (in the past she has demonstrated difficulty in mimicking human males); despite this she can maintain her selected form for an indeterminate amount of time without undue risk or strain.

M'gann has learned through practice to alter the colour and temperature of her outer layer of skin to accurately depict her surroundings. She does so with enough detail that she effectively becomes invisible when motionless, and a hazy blur when in motion. She can be seen and detected by the naked eye when camouflaged in this manner, but one would need to know what they were looking for and/or possesses highly keen or superhuman senses to detect her when motionless.

M'gann's psionic gifts can be applied externally as well; using her psionic strength M'gann can manipulate and move large objects without physically touching them. The exact limits of her telekinetic strength has not been measured but she has literally uprooted large boulders from the earth, deflected a full out assault from Superboy and slammed aerial fighter drones together in flight with no visible strain to herself. By focusing her telekinesis upon her own frame, M'gann can defy gravity and fly through sheer force of will.

M'gann's psionic strength isn't limited to physical interaction with the world around her. Like all Martians, M'gann is capable of communicating non-verbally with other sentient beings; she can literally project her thoughts and feelings into the minds of any being that surrounds her. This form of telepathic intrusion can be seen as extremely invasive to humans (and even painful in some cases) but it is the natural form of communication amongst Martians. In addition to "simple" communication; M'gann possesses enough telepathic strength and precision to examine the memories of any mind she is in contact, restore lost memories or to do battle on the psychic plane.

Unlike her uncle, M'gann has yet to master the martian art of "Density-Shifting," which would allow her to potentially achieve a state of total intangibility, or by reversing the process and increasing her density gain a measure of superhuman strength and durability. When or if she will master this technique is unknown.

Background:

M'gann M'orzz, one of Martian Manhunter's many nieces, spent her formative years on the planet Mars living amongst her own people while being raised alongside her twelve sisters. During this time, she somehow became infatuated with life on the planet earth (most likely due to hearing stories about her uncle's adventures there) and developed an unrelenting desire to visit the small blue planet. Opportunity finally knocked for M'gann in the month of May of the current year, when J'onn prepared to return to his duties on the Earth. As he prepared to leave, M'gann covertly stowed away on his vessel and only revealed herself when the two Martians made earth-fall.

J'onn kept M'gann's presence on the earth a secret for the next few months. M'gann used the time to familiarize herself with her new home, and spent countless hours perfecting her human guise. She based her identity on an old North American sitcom, including her mannerisms and speech patterns. Despite her own readiness to meet her uncle's allies, J'onn was reluctant to expose her to any form of danger and more so, to human teenagers.

I'll change it if I need to depending on what you write up for the Universe Jeff :)

Looks good, Tighty :). Though I did notice part of that was copied, since it mentioned Superboy assaulting her :p.

You know me Jeffster, I like the anti-heroes. I've always wanted to write Punisher :D

Bah. I edited the first post to add what I have, but I am barely keeping my eyes open right now, so I may have made some errors in it, but I don't want to wait till tomorrow to post it, so there you have it. If I need to edit anything, I will do that tomorrow as well as post my character bios.

I'm going to hold off and see who the previous signees call as their characters before I figure out whether I'm going to join or as who. I have a few unformed notions but I want to make sure I'm not stepping on anyone's toes creatively.

You know me Jeffster, I like the anti-heroes. I've always wanted to write Punisher :D

I am with you bro. Frank Castle is somebody I've actually been compared to in RL.

....now that I think about it, that might not be such a great thing?

Excited/happy for you and this gig "The_Jeffinator", along with everyone involved!

Bart sends his unapologetic, uninformed, stupendously *HAPPY* vibes for the entire Young Justice crew! Down the line, and/or when I can get more time....I'd certainly consider at least some cameo action, to your discretion of course! ;)

Sure, Lach! Just give me a heads up what version you intend to use so we can make sure it fits in with the continuity :). I am working tonight, but I get off at 7am and am off Sunday and Monday night, so I should have my characters and the IC up within the next 48 hours.

2nd App

Here is my app. I'm open to change/input

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/youngjustice/images/7/76/Tigress_Team.png/revision/latest?cb=20130319025440

Code Name:Tigress

Real Name: Artemis Crock

Personality:
Artemis is defensive, and can have a short temper. She is direct to the point of being confrontational at times, and can be a bit of a sarcastic loner. She had a hard childhood, and is working hard to put it behind her.
Once she considers you a friend, she is fiercely loyal. Her temper can often be seen in the field. She never hesitates to join a fray, and frequently throws the first punch.

Gear and Equipment:
Her costume consists of an orange body suit with black bodice and tactical gear. She wears an orange and black mask reminiscent of an Asian tiger sculpture.
Her weapons are her bow with trick arrows, a katana, and pouches with a selection of smoke bombs, flash bangs, and shuriken.

Powers:
Artemis is a human with no super powers. She is a master archer and has trained in many martial arts. Her body has been trained to peak physical condition.

Background:
Artemis is the daughter of two career criminals. They trained her, along with her sister, to be assassins. Their childhood was hard to say the least. The girls left home as soon as they were old enough, but her sister Jade still followed in her father’s footsteps.
Artemis chose to use her extraordinary skills to fight crime instead of perpetrate it.
The truth about her family and her upbringing is a closely guarded secret, and source of pain and shame.

I am with you bro. Frank Castle is somebody I've actually been compared to in RL.

....now that I think about it, that might not be such a great thing?

I disagree brah, Frank may be a loner and slightly psychotic, but he is also dedicated, firm but fair, rightous and even trusting in the right situations. I see that as admiral qualities.

Nice character bio, Lily :). If we can get Chas to join in, we'll actually have three females and it won't be such a sausage fest :). No pressure, though, Chas ;).

Also, I forgot to say it in the first post, but Earth has not yet had communications with any alien civilizations besides the Martians. I did mention I may be playing a younger version of Hal Jordan, which I have decided to do. Green Arrow took his place in the original JLA line-up. I am doing it this way because I have a vision for the state of the galaxy, and I want to gradually unveil that through the perspectives of our characters instead of another bazillion OOC paragraphs. Other aliens can still be on Earth, but they must be under the guise of native humans to the general public. J'onn J'onzz has some knowledge of the larger universe, but he has not yet shared that intel with anyone, not even M'gann. Neither Earth or Mars has public knowledge of any life beyond the Sol System. In J'onn's case, he has deliberately sealed away any memories or information in his mind regarding life beyond Earth and Mars so that other Martians will not psychically learn his secrets. His reasons for doing this will be made clear later on.

Haha, finally updated my avatar and siggy. My character bios will be along shortly, but I'm gonna wait until after I take a nap to write the IC.
