Shut up! Do not protest against anything. It is the law!

Republicans All Over the Country Are Pushing These Anti-Protest Bills to Silence Peaceful Dissent

March 6, 2017

The proposals could criminalize the non-violent demonstrations that have grown since Trump was elected.

Republicans across the country are quietly introducing legislation aimed at limiting and even criminalizing peaceful demonstrations.

According to a recent count from the American Civil Liberties Union, at least 17 states have proposed such anti-protest bills, many of which include language ostensibly aimed at improving measures such as public safety. But upon closer analysis, these bills all appear to share the intended goal of suppressing First Amendment rights by making peaceful dissent a crime with the threat of jail time and hefty fines.

Insurance issues do put a damper on many things.

Here's something which is amusing. When protestors damage or destroy property a hew and cry goes up about them being criminals, how they should be imprisoned, or worse, YET everyone seems to forget how this country came to be.

If it weren't for the Boston Tea Party (destruction of private property and the most notable of such acts), if it weren't for the writings in newspapers, in pamphlets and broadsides, if not for the airing of grievances at the local British officials, the meetings at taverns and so forth, there is a high likelihood we would not have gained our independence so quickly.

That Republicans, who continually whine about people jeering them at town hall meetings, who seem to go out of their way to suppress all manner of free and open speech, would forget any of the above shouldn't be surprising. They always claim to be the party of constitutional rights yet as history as shown, are the first to do away with those rights whenever they feel like it because. . . something.

As an aside, I am not saying I agree with those who destroy other people's property. Those are simply anarchists who destroy simply for the sake of destroying without any motivation other than they can. They should go to jail, or worse.

Paranoia after leaks in the White House

Several officials in different government agencies who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity said some employees fear their phone calls and emails may be monitored and that they are reluctant to speak their minds during internal discussions. Reuters has no independent evidence of this happening.

After a change made after Trump took office, staffers now cannot choose who may see and edit a memo. Instead, access is approved by the office of the NSC executive secretary, retired Army lieutenant general Keith Kellogg.
