Ya know, I've mostly been biting my tongue on this particular topic, only because deep down inside I really am a nice person. But I've had it up to hear with all your fucking whining and bitching and it's time I say something.

Ok, so for all the people who have been lining up to whine, and bitch, and moan about the quality of stories on this site...FUCK YOU!

I don't even know where to begin telling you people how full of shit you are. I mean, c'mon, you are coming to a 100% FREE site. FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE...!!!! There's no membership area where the good stories are hidden....You don't need one of those hokey Adult Check IDs or any crap like that. THERE ARE OVER 1700 stories on this site and every damn person who comes here has access to every fucking one of them, good, bad, or indifferent. Maybe those of you who are unhappy could start a list on this thread where you could go and see 1700 stories on one site for FREE!! And Good Luck.

And don't forget all the other shit these people do for you. Things like this bulletin board, and the amateur pics section, and the member profiles section. They go out of their way to do things to make everyone feel like their a part of what they do here, and some of you people are nothing but ungrateful. Personally I'm just fucking sick of it.

So, I have 2 suggestions for you people.

#1 Stop spending your time bitching on the goddamn BB and write your own stories. If you don't like the ones that are being posted, let's see if you can do better.

#2 Shit, I forgot what my second suggestion was gonna be. I'm running let for work so I don't have time to think of it now. Sorry about that...

Anyways, I know many of you are going to be lining up to post here about how big of a meany Lasher is and how I should be nice to everyone...Well, Fuck you, too. If no one else here has the balls to stick up for these people, then I guess it's just up to me to strap on a big set of brass ones and tell you all how it is.

Anyways, BRING IT ON!!! You may not like the way I said what I have just said, but anyone who thinks they can deny any of it is more than just a fool....

You are probably right. I haven't complained about any stories that are posted on here, hell, I haven't read a story in weeks. But I do agree with what you are saying. It is just like anything...if you don't like it, don't do it. I'm sorry, but when I started coming here, it was for the free stories, I didn't know the slightest thing about the BB. And to tell the truth, I used to get off quite a bit. Now, I come on to check my mail, check the BB, and MAYBE post something. I have written stories for this site, only two, but I didn't receive any negative criticism...probably because the 5 people who actually read them were my buddies...LOL...

I have to say that if you are that upset about things, don't come on here. If you think you can find something better, go there. If you think you can make something better, go for it.

Laurel, Manu, and everyone who contributes to this site have done a great job with it. And that is what keeps me coming back. True, I don't post as much as I used to. For lack of a better explanation, I haven't found much lately to comment on. Plus, I do get tired of my words getting twisted around (is that whining...I hope not) into something I didn't mean.

Thank you Lasher, for bringing this up, because I think it has much validity.

Lasher, I agree with you, they do so much for everyone here in addition to free stories. There is no other site that I have come across that can beat Lit. So if you don't like one part that Lit. offers, go to the areas you do like and leave the rest alone. If you only come here for the stories and don't like them anymore, go pay for the ones you do want. Laurel does not write the stories, and she can only work with what she receives. If you can write something better than do it. I am sure she would be more than happy to read it and post it for you. But please, don't criticize Laurel or her Site. She works very hard to make this Site enjoyable for all who come here. In one post somewhere on here, from SoutherneHelle, Laurel practically begged you to tell her how to make the Site better, and not one complainer could give her an idea. So how bad can it be if your mind is blank to what can make it better. Maybe it isn't the Site at all. Maybe your interests have just changed. Which is fine, and it's normal for this to happen, but accept it and move on to whatever it is you desire to read or do.

I want to apologize to Laurel for hurting her feelings. It was not my intent, but obviously I did anyway. She isn't one of those people who "cries wolf" and posts that she's taking a break from the BB just to get sympathy and attention. So I know I truly hurt her, and I'm sorry.

Personally, I think she must be some sort of superwoman to work a real job AND maintain this site. I picture her as some sort of bionic chick who can survive with about one hour of sleep per night, because that must be about all she can get.

Lasher, geez, man, have a drink, count to ten, or a hundred.

It's not like anyone (except Southernhelle) was ranting about how bad things are. I don't think the boards are riddled with people saying things like, "This place is so crappy. There's nothing decent worth reading here." Nasty stuff like that.

I don't feel that I was bitching or whining or moaning--all of those things require a nasty attitude. I only asked a couple of questions. Are the stories becoming boring, or is it just me? Is there a trend of multi-part stories that are too cut up?

I have come to the conclusion that it IS just me. When Laurel says they're the same quality they've always been, I believe her. I truly respect the woman. It must be my perception that is skewed. Perhaps I've been reading so many that I've become numb.

In regard to my second question, in my opinion there are "stories" posted that are really only scenes and aren't long enough or involved enough to qualify as a story, or even a part of a story. And I suppose that IS a criticism.

Since I'm not in charge of sending out the rejection slips, I think my only solution is to go to the BB and post my negative observations there for the authors to read. I'm going to really look like a critical bitch, but that's the only option I can come up with. When I vote "garbage" or "Try Harder," I don't think the author ever gets that info. (BTW, I AM writing my own story, but I'm a perfectionist and it's more like a novella than a story. I can't whip out something I feel is my best in a day or even a week.)

As I've said before, it is Laurel's site, and her standard is really the only one that counts. But on the other hand she maintains this site for US. She can't make changes to improve things if she doesn't know what we, the "consumers", like or don't like.

I go to great lengths to state my opinion without being abusive. I hope that Laurel values my contribution and knows that I feel a huge amount of respect for her and her work.

Er, is this really that big a problem? There are still just as many good stories as there once were, and if I want to find one, I find one, but it is harder these days to find them because there are so many more stories to look through, and so many other interesting things to do on the site. I think that's all most people mean.

Beyond SH's snotty departure I can't think of anyone else who's been all that dismissive and insulting.

"Texas Holiday" was reccommended to me as a "good one", and I recommend it to all of you. Very nice.

I don't think the stories posted here, are worse than the old times, so to speak. But when that is said, I do find myself being more picky about what I read. But that's just me.

As far as Laurel and Manu's work on this site goes, I can only say that I have the utter most deepest respect for what you two, Laurel & Manu, do to make this happen.
And it is the one site I keep coming back to, you guys have all the other brag heads beat by several hundred miles.

As far as stories go, I can only speak for myself. Like Whisper I've become some what perfectionistic about what I submit to Lit. Which is also why Laurel haven't received any in months. But I'm workin on it, and the moment I'm satisfied with it. Laurel will be the first to get a look at it, to see if it's worth posting.

Lasher got a point in his post. Enough said. I agree with him.

This is the most fucking awsome site on the net.

I haven't complained, but I did respond privately with some suggestions. Some of which have been adopted.

As far as the story quality, I haven't seen any difference in the old stories and the new. There are a bunch of old stories that are short, and there are a bunch that are hard to read because of bad grammar, spelling, and lack of talent.

There are far fewer of those 'bad' stories than on any other site I've visited. It's one of the reasons I chose to post stories here. The competiton is much better and if my stories get good reviews here, then I know they earned them.

Count me in too Lasher, I've read a couple of the stories here and found them rather exciting. The only other place that I know of that I can get these kind of stories is from old editions of Penthouse Letters. I think that these stories, on Lit, are more believable just for the fact that I can talk to the Authers and discuss the stories.

Where else can you do that?

I guess what I'm realy saying is if you don't like the stories in the story section then go buy some and then spend some more money to find the author so that you can get their point of views and share ideas. But if you decide to stay here and read these stories, for FREE, then some helpfull critisism is appriciated, But telling every one that their stories suck and should not be posted DOES NOT help people become better writters. So if you don't like the stories PLEASE give some suggestions to the author about how to make it better, it will Help everyone.

This is just My Oppinion take it or leave it. If you take it, Cool. If not that's Cool too. But making people feel bad about what they've done isn't!!! and I think that is the real point that Lasher is trying to get at.

And Madam Laurel, Sir Manu, *I* for one appreciate all the hard work you must put into this site. The stories are great, we have a >lively< litte group on our BB, and I love it. I may not post as much as I used to, but I'm still here, hiding in the shadows, reading the stories etc...

And for those who think they could do better, TRY IT. Thats a load I wouldnt want on my shoulders.

This is probably the only adult site I visit that I would pay for. I just wish I had more time to go back and read some of the earlier posts while keeping up with the current ones and the stories.

The problem is some people could have personal 24/7 tutors and they would never become good writers. Writing is a skill, like golf, or dancing, or gardening, and to be good at it you need a certain amount of talent. I'll do my best to give suggestions, but from some of the stuff I see in my volunteer editing, sometimes there is just so much that is wrong, it's impossible to fix it.

I don't just bitch. I've also given suggestions to Laurel privately.

I was also one of the ones who first suggested the Volunteer Editor program. (How defensive did THAT sound? <chuckles>

Dixon, I don't think that complaints are rampant, but Laurel reacted in another thread, which I think is what prompted Lasher to lash out.

I must say that it disturbes me a bit that people complain about the quality of this site as well and instead of offering suggestions to make it better they whine some more. There's nothing wrong in letting people know that you weren't crazy about a story but it is down right nasty and uncalled for to just come out and say someone's story was a piece of sh*t. How dare anyone put someone's story down that way especially if they have put the time and effort into their work. It's ok to say you didn't like a story but some of you go way too far. If you don't like the stories here move the f**K on.
I usually try to be nice and keep my mouth shut about certain things but Lasher has opened up a can and I'm going to take his complaint one step further, to some people who come to this board and immediately start trouble making it uncomfortable for everyone involved, where the hell do you get off. And What pisses me off is that the same people who want to start some stuff are the first one complaining about not being in the "in crowd." What the hell is that? I know that you all don't really know who I am or even care,--- BUT I sure feel like this site has done a lot of things for a lot of people that otherwise would not have been moved to do much!!!
This is THE only FREE site that I know of where the PEOPLE really do matter!! Laurel, just know that I for one (and many others) would pay to be part of this site!!!

All of the authors are people who contribute to the pleasures we all enjoy. I wish that I had the ability to write like those special people!! Some time in the future I will, only because this site has helped me realize this is healthy!
Lastly, but not least, (and this is only a suggestion) wouldn't it be better if when we had a "complaint" that we addressed it directly to the one that it was intended for?!

I know I am a virgin to the board but I have been visiting literotica for a long time. I have searched high, low and inbetween for free erotica on the net. The qualities I look for are: varied topics, well categorized, short description with title, new stories separated from old, and most of all...FREE!!! The only reason I ever even look for other sites is because I gobble up everything posted on Literotica in a very short amount of time. Only on Literotica do I feel like a member of something wonderful. The way Laurel and Manu keep things updated and add personal insight into their opinions and vacations and plans with the site is incredible. I challenge anyone that has a complaint to do one of two things. Either start your own free site and make it better (impossible if you ask me), or add to this site stories, pics, BB topics that are up to YOUR high standards. I personally love it here. So I come home from work to see that I've spawned a veritable lovefest. I'm never quite sure how to handle myself when I take a position that is popular, so you will have to bare with me for a moment or two.

I'll start off by apoligizing for the brusqueness of my original post. However, I do believe it was necessary to get everyone's attention (or maybe I was just imagining I was Bobby Knight for a moment...), and I do believe it has served it's purpose.

Someone mentioned that I was probably reacting to a post that Laurel had made on another thread, and that is correct. I was absolutely, 100% outraged that anyone could possibly cause her or Manu to feel negatively about the work they do here. That's what I was reacting to. Unfortunately, to convey that outrage it was necessary for me to post in an outrageous manner.

That being said, also keep in mind that legitimate, specific complaints should still be aired. To sit here and say that the sit isn't very good anymore doesn't really cut it. That's non-specific whining and it doesn't do anyone any good. And I think that if you are going to take the time to complain, you should also take it upon yourself to offer a solution.

Oh, and Stump, here's a humorous coincidence for ya. My new title at my real job is Quality Assurance Coordinator. Hehehhee...
