You must be a Repoh! No, Im a MUSLIM! OH, then IM SO SORRY

I just took it as her apologising for calling him a republican.
After all, that's far more offensive than anything he said.

You need to repost it periodically or to come up with similar cartoons.
It captured So Well the GB progressive mentality. ...

Islam is totally different from Christianity, where women are chattel and gays should be stoned to death.

In this case, some being a shrinking minority...

Christianity has been defeated, but into the void, Something Wicked This Way Comes.

There are New Testament verses specifically condemning gays and oppressing women.

I don't know how Pope Francis plans to get around 1st Corinthians 14:34-35.

By ignoring them like any sane man would.

You guys (phrodeau and RachelX)are side-tracking.

First of all, the thread topic wasn't about "is Christianity no better than Islam"?
It's about the double standards of some liberals.
That they're quick to villify Christians or Republicans who display certain bigotted ideas or behaviors. Yet when muslims display them: they either excuse those behaviors, or attack those who bring them to people's attention.

Moreover, you're trying to win the new argument that you createdby putting side by side passages from the Bible and from the Kuran. And you're biased in that, because you selectively choose snippets of text that serve your purpose and you don't put them into the context of the entire chapter either.

And this is semi-futile anyway.
Because, even if you're right: Christianity has oppressed women and so on in the past, it has largely undergone a process of reform to update it's teachings to the values of the 21st century.
Whereas Islam hasn only started that process of reform. Successful in certain muslim countries or groups from Western countries, less so in others.

Christianity and Islam are both as bad as each other. They have no place in the world as far as I'm concerned.
Everyone has double standards. It's human nature.
A bigot is a bigot no matter what religion or political trend he/she follows.

true but ONE is NEVER EVER CALLED THAT

Good point.
Christianity and Islam are both as bad as each other.
A bigot is a bigot no matter what religion or political trend he/she follows.
Adding to that:
I think that only fundamentalists (be they christians, muslims, atheists, conservatives or libs.)are the problem - because even if they might be in a minority, they're much more outspoken and aggressive in their approach than the majority, who tend to be in the middle of the spectrum (regardless of religious or political orientation).

However, even if I don't believe in "God" either, I disagree with the atheist view that religions are the source of evil.
- I think that everybody chooses the path towards spirituality that suits him/her, be it religion, agnostic or other schools of thought. It's better than sinking into despairor a sense of meaningless, the way that a small subset of atheists do, when faced with trying circumstances.
- As long as they don't become radicalized or impinge on other people's rights, all are good.
