I generally support the environmental movement but yeah, some of the tactics- deliberately setting forest fires, and not allowing ANY logging for any reason- are stupid and counterproductive. I generally am supportive of the logging industry as lumber, unlike other commodities, is a renewable resource. Trees grow back. Rocks dont.

Logging is healthier for forests.
You might as well say that growing wheat is counterproductive to prairie grass
which, btw, has to be burned off to keep the plains productive.
