Hey, curious...

Has anyone had the encounter after meeting someone online and then saying "you didn't come off like this online".

I'm tired it's late and i'm not sure if i'm saying this right, but it was a thought I had the other night...because it didn't happen to me.

But many people carry a different persona online vs offline. And so meeting someone online has that risk.

So basicly have you ever meet someone offline from an online community and after meeting them said "they didn't seem like this when i talk to them online!"

I'm rather curious with people who actualy have online relationships that carry over into offline relationships.

I am proud and happy to say that after meeting miss Kitte offline I was more enamered with her then online. But either way she is offline exactly as she is online no hidden nothing...it was great.

As for myself, you'll have to ask her, but i'm sure she'll tell you i'm different offline vs. online. But either way.

Just curious, anyone else want to share there experiences?

I met one woman in a Seattle chat room. She was super cool and wanted to go to the beach. I invited her to my house.. we went to the beach and that is where I found out she wasn't as cool as I thought she was.

I found an excuse to leave.. and left. I never talked to her again. I hope she found her way home.. if not, I guess I should feel guilty.

Ok, let me correct that. There was no big surprises or anything. Kitte is the way she is online as well as 100X better. But it wasn't like she portrayed herself in one way and the acted a completly different way!

As for miss Caly...welll...i could say..but i won't...don't want to shatter her reputation

There is one person (not from Lit) that I met in real life that was totally different than her online persona. Online, she seems like a nice, normal, intelligent woman. IRL, she's a whiny hypochondriac. She's not stupid, but she's nowhere near as intelligent as she portrays herself online.

It took a couple of meetings for me to really see it, but now that I know her better it's really obvious.


I've met lots of people in person that I first met on the net, and out of maybe 20, she's the only one like that.

Of the people I have met from online...all seem to be about the same as online. I have yet to meet anyone that I did not take time getting to know in IM first. So, they may be a bit different from say their Lit persona but not much...

as for you S~ You are you...beautiful and thank MYSELF (giggle) MINE. You are everything I had hoped you would be and more. You were and are a dream come true.

Caly~ She is so much more then any of you could realize. Smarter, funnier, more caring, more beautiful.

But all an all everyone was what they seemed to be...

Tulip was not like I expected from reading her posts. I don't know what it was the I did expect, but I was totally blown away by the humor and sparkle. But it must have been me, because now when I read her posts, it's all her. Maybe it's just that now I hear her voice as I'm reading (in my mind's ear).

Most people I have interacted with here and met have been the same in person. Then there are the odd few that portrayed themselves as one thing and turned out completely different. It happens.

I have been told that my humor gets lost in the text if you don't know me in real life. I imagine it can be the same with other posters too. It is all the way one interprets the text.

I've met a few people from on-line from this site and others. They've all been pretty much what I expected from their on-line personas. No big surprises.

I know I have a more open side to the online persona, because normally I like to listen to voices...(yes the many voices in my head thank you next joke please) and put in my 2 cents when I can. I also find that I people watch and I can't talk and people watch at the same time.

Other people I have met from many sources are somewhat the same maybe a little different from their online persona's. But kewl all the same, only one crazy and that person is far far away from me now.

That being said my next post will be a wish for a meeting in Southern cali so if any of you are around me reply people reply.
