I travel to yosemite every month for work and I get to see some great changes in the weather and so forth. I am a geologist so it is just an added bonus.

The picture is of ice sickles foring from the exfoliated rock. I know those of you back east or in the snow these will not be all that spectacular. but for us with the sunny warm weather is an added bonus....

Yosemite is nice...

I've always enjoyed my visits.

Has anyone else bene to Crazy Horse's monument? I'm fairly certain Mae has.

Yes Savant...

I have been there several times. Unfortunately, the site itself is still greatly...uninspiring. Perhaps in a few lifetimes from now I could see it completed. But I respect their decision to accept no Federal funds.

What it will become is beautiful. The Interpretive Center there is spectacular. The Hills....well...they will always be calling. Where the buffalo will roam and Wakenya will stir. It is the only thing I shall miss of this place, I think.

Stunning pictures Califguy! Glad I'm not the only nutter here that likes posting "the other scenery"! hehe :)

*hugs*

Show us some stellar rock!

Where is The Capitan? Half Dome and Washington's Column? The Tuloumne High Country! Post more pics. *wringing my hands*

I used to make several trips there a year, but things have slowed for me in that area of my life *sob*

I miss the road trips to the Valley for week long climbing trips. Living out of the bus, eating toasted bagels and coffee for breakfast before an early start on a climbing day!

The rivers flowing, the air cool, crisp and quiet. Escaping up to the cliffs, away from the crowds. A unique perspective to be had in an overcrowded park. There are still secret and magical places there is you are willing to explore. Eating an apple halfway up the East Buttress, looking north at the grandests wall in the world- the Nose of El Cap. *Dreaming of climbing it one day*

I love that place.
