Yo, Manu ... Hide Forums

It's a real thing on a few boards. Not sure if VBB has an add-on for it or if you have future plans for Xenforo some day.

Got a few forums here though I'd hide if I could. Just make 'em go 'poof' out of my sight.

Yeah, same here. I have absolutely no desire or need to see the foreign forums as I only speak English and cannot read other languages without the aid of Google translator.

The cheapest fix for all (and the one entailing just taking personal responsibility) is just not to open the ones you don't want to read in.

Send a big enough check to cover the fix. I'm sure the Web site will be happy to construct the Web site to your babysitting needs then.

That's not hiding a forum, its hiding threads, and I don't see how-or why-they'd do that.

One thing they could try, but doubt they'd see a reason too, is something along the lines of twitter where you can list certain keywords you don't want to see, like "GOP, Democrat. etc..." its hit or miss though.

The other thing is when it comes to the topics you mentioned using ignore on a couple of people who are always on about it could help.

Otherwise, just don't click on any thread with the topic. I skip most threads on the AH simply because I have no interest-or answer-for the topic.

A user simply checks a box beside any forum they wish to hide, uncheck it to unhide it again later. Any thread in any hidden forum does not appear in any search.

It works like the Ignore Member feature. Any thread started by an Ignored Member does not appear in the 'New Posts' search.


I would probably block 4 or 5 here.

If you are too stupid to avoid forums yourself, then you're probably also too stupid to use any help other people can offer except from taking your internet devises out of reach (and no doubt, you'd throw a tantrum if that would ever happen).

This is unnecessary and rude. There’s a big jump between ‘this is a feature I know this type of site has and while you’re soliciting feedback could you turn it on’ and what you’re insinuating here.
