i am finally going for my driver's license today, I can't wait! I am trying to distract myself from the nervousness and excitement. I have to wait another 4 and half hours....

Oh and to the brits.... I heard you get to have a thirty odd year license over there. Is this true? we have to renew ours every four years. (im soo Jealous!)

What is the most troublesome on the road when you are driving?

Weel, how about that! very exciting, soon you'll be out there with the rest off us, I hope it goes well ms. thang, you'll do just fine.

For me (I pull a trailer everywhere I go) it's the drivers that are in a big hurry that tend to give me trouble, but I'm seldom in any hurry, they just get right in my way! Cut me off, or ride way to close to the back of the trailer where it's hard to see them.

Some just don't like landscapers I think!

Good Luck! let me know what happens!

The Germans don't even have to get a new photo. Their license is good for life, but the driving school is really expensive. The hardest part is fitting your car into really narrow streets with parked cars and oncoming traffic. Picture a street where both drivers have to stop and fold their mirrors in so they can pass each other.

I wish U.S. drivers were half as good at driving as Germans. Driving in Germany is— for the most part— a pleasure compared to the U.S. and far, far safer.

Yep. You always know what to expect with German drivers. Everyone knows the rules and everyone follows them. Two lanes of traffic can merge into one, zipper style, with virtually no slowing. Once you know the rules, it is a pleasure driving here.

Yes, the UK licence does last for 30 odd years, although some rotter wants to have folks over 70 re-taking the test.

I'm not sure if this still applies in the UK (the rules may have changed for new license owners) but I got my (photo-less) licence in 1981 and it is valid untill 2034. Good luck on your test. :)

Good luck on your test. :rose: Just relax and you'll be fine.

Most troublesome: People on cell phones. They prolly can't chew gum and walk either. 9 times out of 10 I can tell you who's on the phone by the way they're driving...or not driving.

I passed, I am now legally allowed to drive on the road (by myself!) That's a scary thought.

Congratulations.

In the next month, I have the pleasure of teaching driving skills to two twenty something women, who have never been behind the wheel of a car in their lives.

It's really scary when they look down and say, "The brake is the big one, right?"
