Yippee Kay Ay, Alan.

2016 really is off to a bad start.

And what is it with 69? The new 27 club?

Sad sad sad.

First thing I remember him in was of course Die Hard but I really loved him in Dogma as well (don't laugh at me).

Mark me down as a Dogma fan also. I love when God cleans up the whole horror show and Metatron looks at her sideways holding the tuft of his coat with some shmutz on it, "You missed a bit." So many good flicks and so much charisma. I'll likely catch some hay for this but I would rather the last 15 years of his career had not included Harry Potter. I felt like I lost him in 2001.

Yeah...legendary actor, huge loss.

"By Grabthar's Hammer, you will be avenged!"

lol

He was consistently great, with a fantastic range. I agree, Dogma is great. I might have to rent it on Amazon this weekend. I think Bluey and I rented it for a now closed video store on her first visit here.

he also made several bad/mediocre movies bearable, so that's cool too.

see quigley down under and the entertaining, but disappointing version of hitchhikers guide he was in.

but he'll always be severus snape. seriously, just try to imagine anyone else in that role. now stop before your head explodes.

I loved hating him in Quigley Down Under. I think I'll have to locate a copy.

Hay. Hay coming your way.

Duly noted farmer Brooke. I'm always wary when a thing makes too may people go gaga too fast. Like Beanie Babies. Honestly I watched the first....ugh...the second...UGH each formulaic drivel with no subtext and so I gave up. They watched like a little golden book reads. But....over Christmas I caught the last 20 minutes or so of one that came later in the series. I think it was, who knows? ...anyway the guy without a nose is being super menacing, and The Hippie Granola Gandalf guy who ran the school was like, "The regents are coming!" and NoNose says, "By then you'll be dead!" Then Marla Singer kills Gary Oldman and this huge magic wand battle breaks out.....shit is flying left and right. Harry tries to get in on the scrap but the Granola shoves him back in the shadows. It was some heavy shit, I'm not begin facetious, I've nearly decided I want to try and watch these just from that one bit alone.

But on topic, Kippies is right that he made some mediocre films better. See: Robinhood Prince of Thieves.

Fortunately for me, I saw him in the summer of '87 on B'way, in Les liaisons dangereues as Valmont. Before Die Hard, before Potter, before Nottingham. My wealthy (now ex-) sister-in-law would always get us theatre tickets on our summer visits to the City. Ranks among the best.
