There've been tornados, including a recent one in North Carolina, meanwhile:
Heavy rain, thunderstorms, high winds and hail moved through sections of the Northeast on Sunday afternoon, knocking out power to more than 40,000 in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
And in California:
A wildfire that destroyed at least six homes, damaged 15 others and threatened hundreds more grew quickly Sunday as it triggered evacuations for nearly 3,000 people and burned dangerously close to communities in the parched mountains north of Los Angeles
.
 Yikes! Yikes! Yikes!

Everyone okay?

"Repent! For the end is nigh!"

We've had some heavy rains here in south-central Texas, but not much property damage. Just some idiot drivers.

Yep, spring has sprung fer sure! Wait until high summer. You wanna see fire? We'll show you fire. Heck, we might even have an earthquake to add to the entertainment.

You can have your burning season and earthquakes. I'll stick with the flash flood warnings here. ;)

All this crazy weather makes me want to run out and hug a saguaro! Yes, we have dust storms, monsoons and heat that could rival a convection oven, but very little of it is seriously damaging. I don't miss PA one little bit, especially as the temps AND humidity begin to climb.

The warning that makes us shudder the most in my town is that the university students are about to return for the next semester.

You have fraternity/sorority sirens in your town?

I'm still kind of shitted over the city calling me and reading me a checklist of hurricane preparedness. I bought a bunch of stuff to get ready, figuring that if I didn't we'd get hit. If I do I have it and likely won't use it.

Obviously, you're on the coast :p I've lived in hurricane-prone areas; won't do it again. The moment fierce weather kicks up, everything shuts down and you're SOL if you're not prepared. I'd rather have a bunch of stuff I'll only need one day in my life to stay alive than to not have it at all.

My philosophy exactly. Luckily I have room to store all of the crap I bought. This is my first year ever having to deal with the possibility of hurricanes. I'm more used to the rare tornado watch and the usual severe thunderstorms.

No! No earthquakes! I categorically refuse to deal with a quake this year outside of the usual minor shakes here and there. You hear me, California fault lines?

Oh man... If the river had risen 3 more feet with this last flood it would have been in my house. It rains like that or worse, I will hole up high and dry at my dads. Fuck that noise.
