First Missouri, now Oklahoma!

A broad tornado has blown through the Oklahoma City metropolitan area at the start of evening rush hour, damaging homes and injuring a number of people on the city’s northwestern side.

A second storm was poised Tuesday evening southwest of the city.
MO and OK folks, can you please check in? We're worried about you!

And I *think I just heard someone say that Missouri is facing more action as well?

If the rest of the year goes like it's started, I really am going to drive up to Parkfield and kiss the San Andreas!

Maybe the Apocalypse doesn't happen in one day, but takes weeks, months to happen. Tornados in Mo. and Ok. Volcanos in Iceland. Tsunami's...I haven't heard about any, but you never know. Maybe by this time next month the world is split open and burning.

We can only hope there's another Harold Camping out there, ready to predict this.

I vote for June 21. Maybe he was off by a month?

ETA: Damn. I guess I missed that Camper's now saying October 21 will be the end of the world.

The twerp is now claiming October. I think he's just trying to run up as many millions as he can before he croaks. Why, I can't imagine. I mean, how much fun can you have when you're 89, dried up and shriveled?

Maybe there was something he always wanted to buy before he died...like a small country or a hotel chain. What can one buy for $100 million these days?

Lots and lots of hookers?

Good looking ones?

Are there such things?

Getting back to MO and OK...Guys, how is the Apocalypse progressing there? I know you'd like it to switch back to Japan or Mississippi, but I'm afraid it's your turn and we'd like to now how it's going....

We had three tornadoes in Butte County Ca. today. They just tore up some rice fields and missed the people. We get a few every year small ones, a year or so ago one hit a Sacramento suburb and tore up a lot of trees and fences.

Joplin wasn't as lucky.

But they will come back.

The tornado that tore through Joplin Sunday essentially bifurcated this city of 50,000, carving a west-to-east path up to a mile wide that almost beggars description.

"Think about a lawnmower, taking the biggest lawnmower, and just mowing everything down," says Heather Marsh, whose house was in the shadow of the shattered St. John's Regional Medical Center. "It truly makes you feel how insignificant (life) really is. You feel so small and helpless."

Twister + Reactor= Trouble

WASHINGTON — The closest nuclear power plant to tornado-ravaged Joplin, Mo., was singled out weeks before the storm for being vulnerable to twisters.

Inspections triggered by Japan's nuclear crisis found that some emergency equipment and storage sites at the Wolf Creek nuclear plant in southeastern Kansas might not survive a tornado.

Specifically, plant operators and federal inspectors said Wolf Creek did not secure equipment and vehicles needed to fight fires, retrieve fuel for emergency generators and resupply water to keep nuclear fuel cool as it's being moved.

Sounds bad but if you read it, it's not too bad.

It has already been a banner year for tornados with no end in sight. I'm afraid you're going to wear out your lovely little fingers typing out all of these warnings, 3113. Be careful, and take tender care of them.

My diligent fingers will never rest so long as AHer's are in danger! Through blisters, band-aids and splints, I will keep typing up the "Yikes!" alerts, making sure we know everyone is safe and well.

Nah, just run a kite on a copper wire up from their steeple some stormy night. If God doesn't want the church burned down, He won't send the lightning, right? ;)

Meh. I'm not worried. Sooner or later I bet their leader pulls a Jim Jones. These types always do. One day they wake up and say, "god told me we have to drink the cool-aid!" And that the end of another wacky cult story.

And even if he doesn't they're doomed. The group is already starting to break up and I've heard that the infighting among the next generation is something to behold. When the old man goes to his infernal reward the rest will just crumble away in shame.
