It was 55 (American) yesterday and I should have done my outside stuff, because it's as cold as a whore's heart out there today.

I'm the kinda guy that throws trash in the back of the car (SUV, actually) and then every few months take a garbage sack and clean it out. The trash is currently up to the seat level and if I wasn't such a lazy bastard I would have cleaned it out yesterday when it was warm.

I also have some new wiper blades that I should have put on yesterday. And the dog needs some food, which I was out doing errands yesterday and I could have run into the Piggly Wiggly and got him some.

But... I pissed off all day yesterday and here I am, having to go out in the cold.

This month's dog food test is going to be Science Diet.

Lamb Meal, Brewers Rice, Brown Rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Whole Grain Wheat, Whole Grain Sorghum, Pork Fat, Cracked Pearled Barley, Chicken Liver Flavor, Flaxseed, Lactic Acid, Dried Beet Pulp, Soybean Oil, Potassium Chloride, Iodized Salt, L-Lysine, Choline Chloride, vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), Niacin Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement), Taurine, minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), L-Tryptophan, Mixed Tocopherols for freshness, L-Threonine, Phosphoric Acid, Beta-Carotene, Natural Flavors.

See... this is how they fuck with you. The current fad is that meat should be the first ingredient. So because this brand doesn't have meat as its first ingredient, it lists "lamb meal" first. What the hell is lamb meal?

That whole "meat as the first ingredient" deal.... I think it's a bit of blather. My last dog used to eat deer poop like it was caviar. My dog before that one ate Science Diet for 13 years.

I think it's a matter of buying what they like, while not breaking the bank. This month was Alpo, which was really cheap but Larry didn't like it. I had to pour some chicken stock over it for him.

He liked Iams so if he doesn't like Science Diet, we'll go back to Iams for the rest of his life.

My dogs eat real meat.

IRL they'd eat meat NOT plants. Wild dogs eat meat.

In the vet world we called raw diets, barf diets.

There was good reason for it.

I like to buy those dried fruit bags... most of them are made by Sunsweet. Know what I'm talking about? Cherries, apricots, prunes, etc...

Well I bought two bags of dates and I didn't like them. Larry absolutely loves them. I limit him to a few per day, but he is pretty high energy and can burn off the sugar in a few minutes.

Any raisins in that mix...? :cattail:

Hint: Did you see the movie "Fargo"?

p.s. -- I know what you mean about tossing garbage in the floor behind the car seat. "Brothers from a different mother." ;)
