Yes, I would really like to know about how all this works. I haven't a clue. Please?

So I'm sittin' here thinkin' - what can I forward? What question? What idea? What inane bit of spew can I leave the night shift with? And leave those who've left work, as I soon will and find here in the morning.

Something I can leave until I return tomorrow and - once again try to come up with something else that will titillate you, humor you or stop you right in your tracks and gross you the fuck out.

Let's see - yesterday it was MY HARD DICK - no, not very good.

Then it hit me......

I don't know anything about how this whole thing works - the board - Laurel, Manu, Ambro (who calls Manu "Boss") or the other moderators etc., etc.

I don't even know the full extent of the board really. I have stories posted here but I've lost interest in writing them lately. I've lost interest in reading them. I do so love a good erotic story but to tell you the truth, recently when I've looked - well it's a lot of work and time - and I can't find very many at all that are any good. There's a lot of bad shit over there in the stories - by bad I just mean bad - writing style, grammar etc., excluded - I simply find a lot of it not very creative. I mean the bottom line is that, "it has to make my dick hard," right? And a lot of it - well most of it - doesn't. So I've kinda quit going there.

I don't' get off on roll playing - so I don't go there.

So, with my time constraints (work and family) - I find I like it here best - the General Board - this is the place I spend nearly all of my on-line time. And no where else - so I don't know much about the "rest of it." The rest of Literotica. Never seen the Newsletter for instance - don't even know what key-stroke to push to get there.

With that said - how'bout I tell you what I know - which is very little and you guys fill me in on what you think is cool - cool "other places" on Literotica that you might think I'd like or find interesting? I'll throw in some questions too - hope you guys can answer them.

Okay here we go -

I know Laurel and Manu run this ship and there are some monitors. I know of course the Story Board and that other boards exist. I know of the list of registrants and their profiles. I know how to search a topic/thread, but..... that's about it.

So - about the business........

Is the server in Laurel and Manu's house? In their basement? How much computer shit is in there home? Can they manage everything entirely from there? Does Manu do most of it - or Laurel? Do they make a reasonable living ($$$'s) or better? How much work is it really? How did they hire the monitors? How's that work? I presume the monitors work from their homes - right? Do they get paid? How much? Can you make a living as a monitor here? What are the monitors work hours? What are Manu and Laurel's work hours? Do they even have any work hours? When they go on vacation - who minds the store? Do Laurel and Manu do other computer/internet work to augment their incomes? Is that augmentation required?

Hell - what do you all have in your refrigerators? Just kidding! But I am very curious as to - how it all works. I don't have a clue.

I got a problem there sparky... I cant answer any of the questions even the fridge one...

You do realize just your morning posts worked fine rather than living up to the sparkmeister character, don't you?

Ok WH, Laurel Manu... can we have some answers please...consider me an interested chef!

Considering I hear the mysterious Manu and sometimes Laurel talk about new servers and upgrades of the system I am presumeing that this whole set up is running out of thier home either that they are refering to the company who they bought and pay for thier domain from. But I do believe that it is in thier home/place of business.

How much computer shit is in there home?

I would have to venture space wise in thier house thier computer equipment would take up the space of about 5 computers. for what they are running.

Can they manage everything entirely from there?

For the most part I believe they can run everything from home except for those times something happens with the host itself.

Does Manu do most of it - or Laurel?

I believe Manu does most of the technical work while I believe Laurel does liesure work sike some Html coding and story and submission editing, leaving the scripting and pter maintennece to Manu

Do they make a reasonable living ($$$'s) or better?

I beleive that they could feasable if people click sponsers at a rate of 10,000 unique vistors a day and 100 of those actual clicking sponsors could make enough to keep the site going investment free not much else. and probably any profit would come from the product end (sex toys)of literotica.

How much work is it really?

With what I understand of scripts I believe the actual sit down work might be 4 hours a day give or take an hour of play work, you know the stuff genreal pittling stuff

How did they hire the monitors?

I don't think that they would have to, maybe on vacation 1 might be hired but nothing major.

How's that work? I presume the monitors work from their homes - right? Do they get paid? How much? Can you make a living as a monitor here? What are the monitors work hours?

I think purely on a volunteer basis but I could be wrong. Monitors of the bulletin board could work from thier own homes without ever having met Laurel or Manu. I don't think there is any paying jobs at Literotica besies what Laurel and Manu pay themselves. Monitors being volunteer would work when ever they felt like it.

What are Manu and Laurel's work hours? Do they even have any work hours?

when ever they want?

When they go on vacation - who minds the store?

I beleive the store is all automated through thier supplies and that Laurel and Manu have very littel to do with it , if anything at all except check in and see how sales are doing from time to time.

Do Laurel and Manu do other computer/internet work to augment their incomes? Is that augmentation required?

I don't think they do anything, at one time i recall hearing , though i could be wrong, Manu and Laurel quit thier jobs to dedicate themselves to Literotica.

Hell - what do you all have in your refrigerators?

Dozen eggs, bag of onoins, bag of peperoni, 4 packs of steak, 5 packs of burger, 2 pot pies, 1/2 lieter of ice cream, 2 pounds of margarine, mayonaise, ceaser dressing, ranch dressing, 1/4 cabbage, soya sauce, worchestershire suace, strawberry blueberry blackberry jams, thats abotu it.

yep...(giggling)

Some mince (thawing), the honey ('cause of the ants), some bread (stale by now), some mushrooms (dry by now), and beer (quite a lot actually).

Anyone want to come and live with a single guy who lives alone? Bring some food. At least the freezer is full (ish :))

Now now dear Todd. I dont play with my food. But...I have these lotions here...well, I can't go on. I shall not be the one to take your virginity.

Many have tried to take my virginity but no matter what you do to me you will be fully pleasured and my virginity will always remain intact, if you know what I mean ;)

Hi Sparky my man,

I'll answer the most important question first...in my fridge, I have the severed head of the last person who made a post like yours. :)

Literotica is hosted by a guy on the East Coast. We live on the West Coast (West Side Pride!). We do all of the site maintenance stuff over the web using a dial-up account or DSL, depending on which one decides to work that day. Manu and I both have "jobs" of a sort - we do freelance work for some local companies. I do design (mostly print, not web) and Manu does some consulting, mostly to entertainment-related companies. Up until not too long ago, we were also selling vintage clothes and collectibles on eBay to supplement our income. Currently, we're both making pretty good money doing freelance, so the eBay thing is on hiatus.

Manu says that I do most of the work, and I say that he does most of the work - but I think we would both agree that the authors actually do all the important work. The site tends to pay for itself, and any extra money that comes in we usually use for either promotion (we run small ads on some other sites) or underpaying the guy who helps with the programming of the scripts. The site is still a hobby that Manu and I have a blast working on. When we're out of town, we update when we can from hotels, cybercafes, friends' houses, or anywhere else we can find Internet access. We have no employees (unless you count our kitty Aiko) and nor do I ever foresee us having any. If Literotica ever became a "business", I fear that it would cease to be so much fun.

As far as the Moderators go, they are all paid in undying gratitude. I'm sure that their work hours are similar to mine & Manu's, which are "whenever I have a spare second". The only person who makes any money for being a Literotican is Deborah, who we pay about $4,000 a month in small, unmarked bills. Her job description reads, "Wreak havoc, cause confusion, kick ass, and take no prisoners." So far, she's been doing a great job and we really appreciate her efforts.

Speaking of Deborah, she will handle any further questions you have about this thread.

:)

so that \|/ means I as all wrong :( sniffles so much for deduction. sniffles :(

Sparky

I don't know about all the other stuff, but I CAN tell you about THIS moderator.

I moderate in the Online Role Playing area with Havocman, and Ravenloft. We basically keep thing in line. We have the power to move threads to the proper forums if they are posted in the ORP section by mistake. The most common mistake is the Personal Ads being placed there. We all have a password and have to submitt our identification in order to move the thread. (See at the bottom of the forum on the right side, you will see, move, delete, open/close etc.).

Chat monitors are different, they monitor activity in the chat room, and as I understand it, their biggest headache comes from the kiddies trying to play there and the molestors looking for kiddies. They also keep the assholes out, for there are way to many people that get off on making others feel bad, just like here.

Pay? Oh, yes, Laurel pays VERY well. I mean if this keeps up, I'll be able to retire in no time.

No, not really. I do it cause I love Literotica, and if my volunteering keeps the underage people out of Lit and Laurel out of court, it is a small sacrifice.

And lastly, I call Manu boss, cause it is fun to lust after the boss' wife. HA!

Chat monitor here...no pay, except in headaches and sometimes indigestion...(just kidding!)...all is done voluntarily...We monitor chat when we have time (Gosh I hate it when Real Life interferes)...And we moniotr chat because we want to keep the place fun for everyone...well, almost everyone...

As to the fridge question...maybe some eggs, some curdled milk...some green things...and some smelly things...freezer is full but don't dare open the door...

Maybe it's best not to tell things like this.......

But I must ask anyway - you know? Uber Journalist.

Let me preface the question.....

I of course (of course) can't possibly understand the mind that would "search for kiddies" in the chat rooms.

So, with that said - How do you spot'em? What'er some of the tell tale clues? How can you spot an underager? Etc..

I'll understand if you don't want to release this info - just let me know - Nope Sparky!
