I feel stunned and disbelieving and this other alien emotion - proud of us. Finally.

We did it. We did this impossible thing. There will be African Americans in the White House, and they won't be the staff. They'll be the First Family.

It makes my heart smile.

I'm crying, too.

Yay, you. :)

I wish I could have done my part to help history along as well.

I honestly believe the positive energy folks have been sending to Obama from all over the world has been HUGE in this election. HUGE.

And I read this somewhere but it made me grin.

There will be a couple of black children chasing their pet dog through the halls of the White House. :rose:

You realize this is a great embarrassment to the French intelligencia who haven't accepted the fact that the majority of African-Americans have joined the middle class. They still hold that we're a bunch of slimy, non-French speaking bigots. How are they ever going to explain Obama to their students?

Ok...so I'm a male and I must admit here....I can't stop the tears also......so many reflections....so much to be thankful for!

I believe that too. Obama's international support helped a lot of people here believe he could do this, people who might otherwise not have participated because it seemed so incredible. And it appealed to a need among a lot of us to regain the world's respect.

*hugs*

I do hope that maybe I did help out a little bit. Just by talking to people here and making some of them look at politics in a bit of a different light. i like to think I was involved a bit somehow, anyway.

Proud day! Restores faith in democracy.

McCain... elegant in defeat. Masterful... I'm almost happy he didn't find that soul earlier.

I'm so sad his grandmother didn't make it to see this day :( I'm sure he is, too.

:rose:

The wife woke me to tell me the result.

As she stood outside smoking, the church bells started to ring! Here! In a small, British seaside town,. This result is important enough for someone to ring the church bells in a small town across the other side of the world.

Absolutely, stunningly amazing.

And I couldn't be happier.
