Name:Cassandra Wavenhall
Age:30
Height:5'2"

Ms. Wavenhall scurried around the small office files hugged to her chest while her free hand searched the filing cabinet for more paperwork. A receiver was pressed to her ear, held there by her shoulder as she spoke. The small irritated screech from the other end of the phone made her wince. "I understand that there is a convention in town for this month but you have got to have one room available!" Her voice was a plea, answered only by the laugh of the hotel manager on the other end before a resounding click as the line went dead. Taking a seat at her desk Cassandra placed down both the phone and files she had been carrying. Rubbing her temples she couldn't help but groan. If it wasn't one thing it was the other. She had been on the phone all day attempting to find her boss a room as his new home was still under construction.

Having flown in early that morning with him they had both found out the bad news together. Now she was at a loss. She had been working with him for a few years and had managed to work out all problems they had come to but this time she wasn't sure what to do. With a deep breath she stood slowly, smoothing her suit she glanced to the door. She began to pace for a few moments, her feet aching slightly in the high heels she wore. Rubbing her temples she tried to think for something. About the time she was going to give up the thought struck her. Turning she hurried into his office.

"Sir." She said with a gentle smile. He looked as tired as she was. The day have been odd to say the least but the good news was they had managed to get most of the office in order. At least they were on schedule with that.

"I've called every hotel in the area, going as far as two counties over but this convention that's going on has everything booked solid. I'm sorry sir. It looks as though we wont be putting you up in a hotel. There is only a few options left... if you would like we could have you fly in every day which would be very time consuming and expensive or...." She swallowed. "If you like I have an extra bedroom at my place...you could stay with me until your home is finished."

Name: Ryan Morris
Age: 37
Height: 5' 11"

Ryan Morris owned a very successful clothing wholesale company. He recently moved his home office to an new city and consequently had to find a new house. He found a wonderful new home for a great price but no sooner had he moved he found out why he got such a great deal. There was a LOT of work that needed to be done. He should have listen to his secretary, Cassandra. She told him to at least visit the house before buying it, but he was far to busy to and he bought it somewhat sight unseen.

He and Cassandra had been together since he opened the company 10 years ago, she was the first person he hired. They worked so well together but they didn't spend a whole lot of time outside the office. He was looking over some sales reports when she walked in and told him the news about not being able to find a hotel. He wasn't too keen on flying in and out every day, that was WAY to much money. But, then he was a little surprised when she offered him a room at her house. "Well, Cassandra, I must say that I'm very flattered that you would offer me a place to say... I accept on two conditions. 1: I insist on paying you for staying with you and 2: You have to let me do some of the cooking."

With a soft chuckle she nodded. "As long as you don't mind a dog it's a deal. But you don't need to pay me sir. I already get a check." It was a tease and a smile played on her lips. Moving forward she placed down a few files before moving to gather up the outgoing orders. "It's beginning to get late sir. If you would like we could call it a night and start fresh in the morning. We've had one heck of a day tomorrow has to be better sir." WIth a smile she moved to the door.

I'll make sure we don't have any meetings tomorrow and ensure that all the outgoing orders are taken care of before we leave." Taking a deep breath she glanced down at her watch with a nod. "I"ll also check on your luggage and the workers at your house. I"ll see if they'l put in some extra hours." She smiled over her shoulder.

Ryan smiled, "I love dogs and I insist on paying you and I won't take no for an answer." He handed her the files he was looking at. When she told him about what she was going to do before they left he said, "All right, sounds good..." He gave her a smile when she left. Ryan started packing up his things when his cell phone rang. He took it out of his pocket and saw it was his girlfriend Annabelle. He smiled, "Hey Belle..." he said.

A short time later, Ryan walked out of his office looking very dejected. He looked at Cassandra and said, "Is uh... Is everything ready? Are you ready to head home?" He sounded very unenthusiastic.

Cassandra was in the middle of clearing her desk when he spoke. "Is everything alright sir?" Se asked standing up straight to look him over. She knew him well enough to know something was wrong. "I know you might be down about the house but something else is up....anything I can do?" She asked hugging the last of her files to her chest.

Ryan looked at Cassandra and gave her a sad smile when she asked if there was anything she could do, "No... No really," He gave a sigh and said, "Annabelle just called a moment ago... She made partner at her law firm... So, she's not going to be moving out here with me... She, uh... also broke up with me... She doesn't believe in long distance relationships..." he sighed again, "You ready?"

Her heart sunk for her boss. He was such a nice man, always doing what he could for people. "I'm so sorry sir." She said softly, reaching out to touch his arm. "On top of everything today I know this is the last thing you wanted to deal with." She said gently. FInishingu p she moved slowly. "Come sir... lets get you back to my place so you can relax. I'll cok dinner nd we can start fresh tomorrow ok?"

Ryan smiled when Cassandra touched his arm. She was such a nice woman. He knew that who ever ended up with her would be one of the luckiest guys on Earth. When she said about going home he nodded, "Sounds good... Oh and Cassandra, I would prefer if you didn't call me sir at home... You can call me Ryan." He gave her another smile. He walked over to the door and opened it for her.

With a small smile she nodded. "Alright....Ryan." She said gently. FOllowing him out she thanked him for holding the door.

"So.. is there any foods you dislike for dinner? " She asked once they were in the taxi heading towards her home. "And as for the dog I'm just... going to warn you he's a big guy." She cood with a laughed. "So don't be alarmed he's harmless."

Ryan hailed a taxi for them and opened the door for Cassandra. When she asked about what he didn't like for diner. "Well, I'm not a big fan of cooked carrots, Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts, Lima beans, Chinese food and sushi." Ryan raised an eyebrow when she said she owned a big dog, "How big of a dog is he?"

"Do you like chili?" She asked as she got in, moving over so he had room. "As for Chess....he's a Newfoundland." Leaning back she told the driver where to go before turning back to him. "But don't worry. He's just a big fluffy hair ball with ears. He wouldn't hurt a fly. I've had him since he was a pup. More of a lazy pillow to be honest. They say that Newfoundland's need a good amount of activity.. but just walking him is a hassle in itself. When he was young he would just.... give up during out walks. I'd have to carry him back home." She chuckled.

Ryan smiled when Cassandra mentioned chili, "I love chili." He sat there and listened as she told him about her dog. He laughed when she said she had to carry him home. "He sounds like a very good dog. I can't wait to meet him." He reached up to loosen his tie. "I can't wait to get out of this suit and into something comfortable."

Unbuttoning her suit jacket she nodded. "He is. He's been my best friend for years.I can't wait to get out of these shoes. "I started the chili before I left after changing this morning." The taxi came to a halt outside the small white house. It was plenty big for just her and her dog. "Well... here we are." Sliding out after him she made her way up to the dark red door. Opening it they were met with a large hair mass who jogged up to her before planting it's butt at her feet. With a low bark it stared up at her with dark brown eyes. "Alright alright Chess back up." She cooed to the large dog. "Come on, back it up." Pushing his head the dog did as told moving just enough to let them in before planting his butt once more but this time in front of Ryan. "Oh for heavens sake Chess! Go lay down you big fuzz ball let Ryan be. He'll be here all night now shoo." The dog seemed to look ofended before trotting off an flopping down onto an oversized pillow in the corner.

"I'm sorry." She murmured before leading him towards his room. "This will be your room for the week. The house was still very bare having just gotten there that morning. "I'll find the sheets before we head to bed. I still have to make mine up as well but if you want to shower and change there is a bathroom down the hall you can use." She smiled before nodding. "I'm going to go do the same I wont be long. Make yourself at home." She coed sweetly.

Ryan followed Cassandra up the walk. He looked at the house and it was very nice. He smiled as he watched Cassandra and Chess' interaction. When she apologized for her dogs actions he said, "That's okay."

He followed her to what was going to be his room for the week. There was a bed and and a couple of nightstands and a dresser. "Thanks, Cassie," He said, as he set his suitcase on the bed and she left, "Oh I hope you don't mind being called Cassie."

Her cheeks flared a soft pink as he called her Cassie but smiled none the less. After a nod she moved towards her room. She hadn't been called Cassie since college. Stepping into her room and out of her heels she held back a groan of delight. Siting on her bare matress she looked around to the boxes and luggage that litered the room. "This is going to take months." She muttered but shook her had. "No reason worrying over that now." She muttered to herself. Grabbing her overnight back she pulled it onto the bed, rummaging for her personals and her pajamas.

It wasn't long before she had slid out of her suit and into the warmth of the waiting shower. With a sigh she washed herself and her hair, taking her time to let the pressure of the water sooth her aching and jet-lagged muscles. She hated flying but... she loved her job.

After finally finishing he stepped out of her room, her hair a mess of damp curls. Moving towards the kitchen she smoothed the large tee shirt over her small frame. She cursed herself for only packing her comfy rag tag sleepwear in her quick bag. The shirt was much to big, falling off one shoulder while the shorts she wore were barely seen due to the length of the shirt. She knew she had more appropriate pajamas but she had no idea what box they were in.

Lifting the lid to the crock pot she let the smell chili waft through the kitchen before looking for the bowls. About the time she had managed to locate and wash both the bowls, silverware and glasses she heard the shower down the hall turn off.

Ryan smiled whe Cassandra approved of him calling her Cassie went through his luggage and got a t-shirt and a pair of lounge pants. He took off most of his clothes except his shirt and boxers, and headed to the bathroom that Cassie said he could use. He went in the shower and started to clean up. It was a long day and he was glad it was over.

When he was done he walked out and could smell the chili. When he got in the kitchen he was surprised to see Cassie in just a large tee shirt. He was sure she had to be wearing shorts under that. "mmm that chili smells great..."

Turning to him she smiled. "Thank you. Would you like cheese on your chili? I'm sorry but I don't have any sour cream or hot sauce. " She asked as she pulled out the cheese and moved to the table. Setting their bowls down she took a seat at he table her eyes glancing to him. "I don't know about you but I feel much better now that I've showered.

Ryan nodded when she asked if he wanted cheese on his chili. "Yes please..." He put some cheese on his chili and took a spoonful. "Oh wow... that is good." He took another spoonful and looked at Cassie. He was now positive that whoever ended up with her was going to be a very lucky man.

With a smile she began to eat as well her eyes on him. "You... wanna talk about it?" She asked slowly. "About... Annabelle? In my experience it gets worse if you hold it in. Trust me.. I know." She whispered. "I know it hurts." She looked down at her chili, feeling CHess nudge her knee. Rubbing his head she chuckled as he placed his chin in her lap.

Carefully pulling her hair over one shoulder she took another bite before looking down. "I'm sorry if that was... a little personal but...we've worked together for some time. I'd like to think of you as one of my closest friends."

Ryan listened to what Cassie said and he nodded, "Yeah... Your right... We have worked together for along time. And, I consider you a friend too, " He took a bite. "I thought Annabelle was going to be the one... We were together for 3 years..." He took a bite, "Once we were all settled in the new house... I was going to propose..." He took another bite.

Looking at him her eyes saddened "I'm so sorry." Shes aid softly. "I know that it hurts." She whispered. "Did... she give you a reason besides the long distance?" She asked gently taking another bite. Nudging Chess away she watched as he moved over to rest his head in Ryan's lap instead. With a small smile she spoke again. "Someone... will be very lucky to have you one day. THe pain.. it will pass."

Ryan smiled when Chess put his head in his lap. He took a bite of chili. When she asked about another reason Ryan said, "Well, she did make partner at her firm... She didn't think she would make partner so she was ready to leave and start her own firm... It's a great opportunity for her..." He smiled when she said the pain will pass, "I'm sure it will..." He took a bite, "Do you have any beer?"

She thought for a moment before nodding. "I'm not sure." She said before moving to he fridge. Opening it she glanced through it before chuckling. "Look at that! I told the guys to get me the basics... guess they thought beer was the basics." She laughed pulling out two. "Now..." She glanced around. "If only I can find the box with the bottle opener.

Chuckling she placed them on the table before searching. Bending into one box she made a squeak of excitement. "Found it!" She turned holding up the small bottle opener before almost tripping over Chess who had come to investigate. Laughing she stepped over Chess barely managing to get over him. 'Sometimes I wonder why I got a dog that was almost bigger than myself." She smiled

Ryan laughed a little at her comment and said, "Thanks." as he took the beer and the opener. He opened it and took a sip, "Since we are talking about relationships... What's going on with you? Are you still with what's his name?" He took a bite of his chili.

Smiling she opened her own beer taking a sip before speaking ."No. We..." She paused looking down to run a thumb over the opening of the bottle. "It didn't work out." She leaned back glancing to Chess who had finally laid down under the table. "It's hard to make a relationship work when three other girls are involved." She murmured not looking up at him. Taking a bit of her chili she had lost her appetite. "But it's alright. It wouldn't have worked anyways. He was too full of himself for his own good. Thought he was a god." She laughed.
