I appear to have the dubious honour of being the first to reply to your question, I personally find the GB to be a place of endless amusement, I really laugh out loud at how far some members go to get a rise out of each other.
I can see how a newbie can get easily put off posting there by the insults (meant or not) as they dont understand that its just how nearly everyone behaves all the time.

As far as to why no-one has answered you before now you have to bear in mind what day you started the thread on, a lot of regular posters over here are only around during the week or are limited at weekends to only a short amount of time online.

I agree with Mark here.

I enjoy the GB and check it out every time I log on to Lit, I just don't post there. The GB has some very interesting characters and diverse topics. Not a bad place at all.

I love the General Board! I just can't get enough of the endless bickering, the inane threads that serve no real purpose, and my personal favorite: the bitching!

I can't believe people actually watch TV! There's more drama on the GB than you'll find in a hundred soap operas!

The GB is the extra hot taco sauce on the burrito of life!

And to top it off, they even occasionally post thought provoking threads. I'll tell you what, it just doesn't get any better than the GB!
