Does anyone know what is going on with Yahoo mail and messenger?

Unless it is fixed, try clicking on the mail link on the Yahoo page and you'll get an error with the site's security certificate... the same with messenger.

Seems to be fixed, but it was weird. It wasn't my computer not getting a certificate, it stated there was a security warning with Yahoo's. And I found it was not only my computer.

But all better now. Kind of freaked me out. So many rely on Yahoo mail and have important info on their servers... eesshhh.

Yahoo has been giving me fits for awhile now. I think the problem is they are constantly updating it, and a lot of people are running different versions. My chat "locks up" quite a bit where it is on the screen but I cannot type into the message box. Many times I have ended up restarting the computer.

In a nutshell, "that SUCKS!"

I haven't been on messenger in a while.

Since Outlook Express and Outlook are not automatically put on PCs anymore, people have to use web based mail. My ISP's web based mail is a pain in the ass and I use Yahoo and Gmail. I felt safer downloading my mail, and thus my personal info on that mail, to my hard drive and no longer on my ISP's server. Knowing my mail is dependent on another's server make me wary.

The new mail client* is going live one account at a time, one of mine had to be changed the other day before I could login. The others are still on the old one.

* Client - the part you see when you go to your account.

The latest update Safari sent me wiped out almost all of my cookies so I had to sign in to most of my favorite websites all over again. PITA!

And I was switched to the new mail months ago on one account and last week on another.

I doubt that has anything to do with what happened today, but then again, it would not surprise me.

Oy! I hate when I have myself automatically signed on and when something like that happens I am going crazy trying to remember my password. Even more crazy is when I signed on initially it was with an email account that no longer exists! Try retrieving info from the site then. I learned from that!

All e-mail servers are fucked up ... It's what they do. I have accounts with Comcast, Yahoo, Gmail, Opera and Hotmail and they're all quirky. I won't even use Outhouse Express.

Agreed, but at least when I downloaded my email from my ISP to Outlook Express, which is not a server but a program, as you know, it was to my hard drive, and thus, solely in my possession.

That's why I use Thunderbird, I can consolidate all my email accounts into one user interface. Gmail, AOL, Yahoo...all in one handy dandy tool. :D
