I just become aware that the account of xleglover is gone. This member does not exists

Has anyone saved the content? And what happened if someone could shed some light into the disappearance?

He got fed up with all the one bombs and horrible comments years ago. He moved over and started posting all of his stores onto a hotwife themed forum that has a story section. I don't think I can name the forum or link them here but PM me if you want a link.

Here is his update from over there:

"Hello all,
Thanks for your words of support. As some have suspected, I've decided to try selling my stories on Amazon. I've reached the point in my life where it would be nice to have a little extra money.
I've deleted my stories here and on Literotica. Any stories that are still floating around on the Internet are without my permission. I am not Sam Morisson and I've never published under any other name. Except a long time ago I did publish a few stories under Flash of Stocking.
Anyway, the stories I publish on Amazon will be new or with a lot of edits and new stuff.
I plan to publish under the name "Mike Andrews". I'll post here to let you know when the first book is available.
Cheers - xleglover"

"Flash of Stocking" and "Xleglover" is one and the same? I knew the writing styles were very similar but had no clue. I loved all those stories. Its a shame he/she pulled their stories. I think it would have added to their publicity to have them still here.

Anyways I am down, also, for this site list me as a virgin even though I been here years before I got an acct here. I been here ever since "WhiteShadow Nasty Stories" went out of operation. Oh well!

The 'virgin' title is strictly related to post count and it defaults to that. You can change it any time you want over on the story side in your control panel.

It seems for every writer who has a good experience here there are others that never quite get the appreciation and reception their work deserves. I got a message from a writer I've been following saying he was packing up his kit bag and heading out for parts unknown. Too bad. His stuff was good, but focused on one category that gets limited viewership.

Sorry, minor thread derail ahead-

OMG thank you!

I have been trying to remember forever the name of that site - I kept thinking White Wolf...but WhiteShadow - that's it!

Same here, that was my go-to website and then away it went and I found Lit.

I'm sorry the Author has pulled their stories and I wish them the best in pursuing higher readership and income from their work!

This is the world at large.

I'm not suggesting an author lets their creativity be shaped by reception here but I head scratch when I see authors so self-aware in their work not quite frame what is "good reception" for what they specifically write correctly.

Yeah. Here's the writers final profile update, no names mentioned.

"I only ever managed to pick up a small amount of followers, but this is a final update from me for those who took the time to read my stories.

The last while's been tough as I never managed to find an audience in my time here, which left me forcing stories into genres that never truly fit."

The discussion comes up frequently as far as the disparity in readership based on category. Awkwardly Set's reason for pulling their work is partly over low reception. At times the word unfair is used. I understand that feeling, but its not about fair.

It's no one's fault some genres are more heavily read than others, and there is nothing at all the site can do about it. You can't force people to read anything other than what they want.

Like you said, its about being in the frame of mind that the story you wrote is good, and its not a reflection on your work that only 30 people voted on your Toys and Masturbation story, nor is it a reflection on a taboo author's work that they received 900 votes on their story.

As we say in my family, "It is what it is, and sometimes what it is really sucks" but there's nothing you can do about it except the best you can.

xleglover is publishing as "Pete Andrews" on a famous online store.
I get that but here is the rub. I do not appreciate them pulling his stories off the free site then going to a paid site like that. As for getting bad reviews. All artist gets them. Its just being an artist and as an auther at two other sites myself I can tell you I measure my stories not by the good reviews which many dont bother doing but by the number of negative reviews. Evidently word is getting around that more and more people are paying attention to your work.

There's plenty of reasons why Lit's "free" doesn't work for an author anymore.

Life sucks and we can be thrown into chaos at any time. When you are in chaos, you use every resource you have at your disposal to get out of it, including your creative works.

You could look at it that they were here for you to enjoy for free for as long as they were, and that you have tens of thousands of other stories to read for free.

The way I see it is that if you liked their work so much you could show your appreciation by spending $3 or $4 to support them. Or you could be a whiny ungrateful cheapskate, in which case you have no grounds to complain.

There is at least one on line seller that as part of their terms is you can not offer the work for less money anywhere else. That caused some issues with one publisher that had a free library of some of their works . They either had to pull them from the library or not offer them on this seller's site.

Who is "them"? You seem to be implying someone else has pulled the stories, not the author.

An author can do what he or she likes. Why shouldn't they have a go at making a few bucks? What's your opinion got to do with it?

The most previous SENTENCE before I mentioned "them" mentions "bad reviews". How can someone mistake the math here? Them=Bad Reviews. I know the authors are the ones pulling the stories and its been stated here its in huge part by the mass quantities of the bad reviews they receive. Did you miss the part when I said I was an author myself on two separate websites. Sadly I have none here for this kind of genre is not in my wheelhouse. Sorry for the off topic rebuttal.

And I am all for Authors having a go at making money. Hell the reason I posted stories in the first place was hoping I was talented enough to get scouted by certain employers that have been known for using internet fiction sites to find talented writers. No joke that was an actual thing. Articles in computer magazines as well as some trade magazines I was lucky enough to have read confirmed that. I was just saying they should not take down their FREE stuff to do so. Just stop adding new stuff. If someone wants more than all they have to do is pay for it. As for me I will not buy a book off the shelf without knowing if the author is any good or not. I refuse to take that chance. I saw plenty of crappy movies in theaters that not only ripped me off the price of admission but because TIME is money I wasted the precious time I could have used EARNING money instead. If I am not enjoying myself I might as well earn money doing it.

I responded to your post #8, which I read as a self-contained statement (which is, I think, the convention in forums) hence my question. I now see that in your mind you were continuing a previous post.

"Them" meaning "bad reviews" wasn't at all clear. Never mind, it's not an issue, merely seeking clarity.

Sorry, minor thread derail again-

You are welcome!

I had at one time almost all my favorite stories from that site on a flash drive only to get the flash drive corrupted. I found a mirror site 2 years ago put up by another that had every single story on it but there was a protection thingy on the site to forbid access to any story files. It took some doing but I found a way to trick the site into letting me have access. I must say this in my defense, the mirror site is NOT a pay site. Repeat: The mirror site is NOT a pay site. My obvious tricking is not illegal just necessary. It had more to do with keeping minors away from those stories. I am sure an extensive search of the nets many search engines one of them should be able to direct you to the mirror site.

But that's a huge restriction, there's no "just" about it. Writing pays very little unless one spends a huge amount of time both writing and promoting that material. The author mentioned they're at a point where they could do with some more money; it could take them years to write enough brand-new material to bring in any significant amount of money.

Nobody owes us free stories. Even the people who've already given us free stories. Authors have the right to pull their free stuff for any reason at all.

If someone wants more than all they have to do is pay for it. As for me I will not buy a book off the shelf without knowing if the author is any good or not. I refuse to take that chance. ...but if you've already read those same stories, back when they were free, you already know they're good? Plus, pay sites usually offer a free sample e.g. the first chapter of a book.

The problem with offering full stories for free as promo is that many people will just read all the free stuff and then go straight on to the next author's free stuff without ever paying, however much they enjoy the free samples. Maybe you're the generous reader who makes a habit of buying the author's paid stuff if you like their free samples? But if you are, you're in a pretty small minority.

Thread hijack, but if anyone here's about Spacefirefly publishing her (?) works elsewhere, please let me know. I loved those, and I was really hoping she was going to write one for all the Power Rangers.

You'll probably have better luck by posting this request to a new topic with "Spacefirefly" in the topic name.
