XCorp was a multi-national company, worth billions. However, as powerful and rich as the company was, with offices in every major city and many towns, they maintained a strict level of security and secrecy. The employee's were eager and hard-working, despite minimal wage. Internal complaints were few and far between, and those that did surface were quickly and efficiently dealt with. Everyone worked as a team for the betterment of the company.

Masuki Osurua, a petite japanese woman who had joined the company only a month ago, was already enjoying her work, despite the long hours for little reward, and thought nothing of it. A soft melodic tune played over the speakers in the office in which she worked, a tune that she had first heard during her interview, and at times she even found herself humming it happily out of work.

She put in for overtime, at no extra hourly rate, quite regularly, and even had given up her weekend aerobics class, since the company allowed access to a well maintained gym, which they insisted employee's use at least two hours a day to maintain their physical health.

The XCorp canteen's provided balanced nutrional meals and energy drinks to compliment the regulation employee excercise program. She had been looking recently at the brochures on communual housing estates that the company maintained exclusively for its employee's.

"Miss Osurua?" a voice asked, and she looked up, meeting the dark eyes of a stranger stood opposite her desk. She sighed, slightly irritated in being interrupted from her work, but then noted the dark blue tailored suit he wore, an XCorp security card pinned to his jackets left breast pocket. John Ravens. Personnel Officer, three silver stars besides the job title. She immeditately smiled and got up, laying her pen besides the paperwork she had been engrossed in, and took his proffered hand. She saw another person, a tall attractive woman with shoulder length ash-blonde hair, stood behind and to his right, and Masuki glanced at her security card, reading the womans name, Katarina Williams, and noting she was also a three-silver-star Personnel Officer.

"That's me" she replied with a broad smile to both of them. "How can I be of help?"

"We've been observing you at work, Masuki - you don't mind if we call you that, do you?" John asked, shaking her hand. Masuiki shook her head slightly, maintaining her smile. "Good" he continued. "We have an opening in the personnel office and we think you'd fit in perfectly, don't we Katarina?"

"Absolutely" Katarina said, her green eyes meeting Masuki's brown for a moment, as she brushed a few stray strands of her hair back behind an ear. "Would you be interested in such a position, Masuki?"

I wouldn't mind being Ravens, or perhaps the CEO of XCorp.

William Maxtrell III

He looked out from his 74th floor window across the city scape below him, feeling as powerful as he always did. These days, it almost wasn't a challenge to keep this company running at peak efficiency. Some days he longed for the days when XCorp was trying to find its niche in the marketplace. Those were fighting days, days to scratch and claw their way to the top.
It helped in those days to keep himself in shape for the long torturous days, now the halcyon days had arrived and perhaps he should enjoy them, kick back, but that wasn't him.
Maxtrell still rose at 5 a.m. and hit the gym for two hours, so, even at 56, he cut an imposing figure. His 6' tall frame was broad and muscular and topped with a full head of salt and pepper hair. His steely blue eyes could still look through someone without a problem and his tanned good looks still made him popular among the city's paparazzi, especially when he stepped out with one or two young ladies. He was tabbed the Hefner of the security industry, and the label pretty well stuck.
Especially these days. When he wasn't in meetings, keeping tabs on how the company was doing throughout the day, he had to burn his energy off in various ways. He looked over to the bookcase wall, which would pivot when he pulled the 'battered' copy of 'Hamlet' into his personal sex chamber, complete with bed, video library and assorted toys.
He looked at his Breitling, 15 minutes until she arrived. He smiled. It had been, what, two weeks? He couldn't wait to see her.
