What are the criteria for a story being given a "x.xx" rating upon being published?

Is it a matter of views, number of ratings, time, or...?

The reason I ask is because I have a story where, if I view it on my profile, its rating is displayed as "x.xx" but when I view it in my dashboard upon being logged in, or when I view it on a list of stories with [insert tag here], or when I view it on someone else's profile, the rating appears just fine, it's just "x.xx" on my profile. Is this a bug?

Different parts of the site refresh at different times, and contain slightly different data sets when they do. Your control panel should end being the master.

X.XX ratings only appear on the public pages of lit. Your personal page should reflect your actual score and vote totals.

The score will not be displayed publically until you have at least ten votes. The refresh rate varies so it may take time for all pages to update with a score.

My control appears to have the correct total -- it's gotten 31 votes of varying levels -- but there's a different rating total on my bio, others' bios, tag pages, and the (presumably) accurate count in the control panel accessible upon login. I may just be worrying myself frantic over a non-issue, but having a rating "stuck" at x.xx for this long has never happened before, even with relatively new stories, and it shouldn't be happening at all in this case. Like, you can give someone's story a rating and watch as the count on their bio goes up or down right before your eyes. Has the refresh rate slowed that much in the past few months?

There's system tweaking going on, which is resulting in oddities. For example, having to keep logging in on the Forums - this only happened a week ago (and appears to be browser related).

Ah, that'd explain why the numbers are all wack. Wish I knew this earlier, but if there will come an end to the tweaking then I guess things are alright. The inconsistencies do bother an obsessive part of my psyche, but that'll pass.

The system contains legacy elements that are twenty years old. Keeping it all running means constant tinkering and changes, so don't expect inconsistent data to stop anytime soon. Not helpful if you're a bit OCD, but that's what it is. To my way of thinking it's an "allowable error" tolerance factor - same as you have with any systems' KPIs.

The rating on my profile page just updated from "x.xx" to a numerical value! Still slightly off from the "official" value, but it's still a great relief.
