just come clean and admit it, there isn't any case!

the first job of the union is to keep the union around. the second job is to ensure that worker does the bar min per day of work.

I totally agree! Workers must earn as much as they are worth, and the employer needs to pay workers, especially skilled (value added) ones at a premium so that they do not jump ship.
