What the FUCK?! Seriously?

Each of these are news stories of what seems to be an epidemic of gang rapes of women and children in India. What the hell is going on in the world? There is the Stuebenville Rape case here and the story of the young girl in Canada who hung herself after being raped. And now seeing this, I simply can't wrap my head around it. My thoughts are a jumble of disgust and anger and sadness.

That's what happens when you cram over a billion people in a country that size.

It's corrupt and mostly lawless.

I'm curious how one can be a libertarian and not place the blame clearly where it obviously belongs. Ont the women who aren't strong/smart/rich enough to defend themselves. Isn't that the whole crux of you don't need goverment and people should handle their shit?

Using the word 'epidemic' implies that this is some sort of recent outbreak of rape.
It's not.
This has been going on forever in India - it's just that in the recent past the rest of the world has been hearing about a subject that before now was considered so shameful by the victims that it was almost never reported.

I am aghast at the prevalence of gang rapes against women and children, and you want to use that to prod me about my political beliefs? Classy.

But hey, you know what... right now I think I am leaning a little to handing those guys over to the families of the victims and indeed letting them handle it.

So you think that the numbers have been this high all along but just under-reported?

Yep. You shouldn't have a problem with this. You're core beliefs are that the government gets in the way and people should take care of themselves. You're free to upgrade civilized at any time.

I'm not a fan of handing them over but that should be right up your alley. Doesn't matter if they are innocent or not, if a woman accuses a man of raping her those who are emotionally involved should get a chance before evidence is seen. If they had sufficient funds they'd have body guards. See, your philosophy provides equal protection all around.

Are you seriously this clueless?

Why aren't you defending your philosophy? Oh. . .because it's indefensible in the real world. Perhaps those women's families should sue for damages. Getting money will fix this right?

What the?

What the?

Exactly what was said. If you think the government is in the way why aren't you placing the blame where it belongs here? It clearly lies on the individuals incapable of defending themselves. At least come out bitching about India having oppressive gun regulation or something that jives with the rest of your philosophy. It shouldn't be difficult.

I have nothing to defend. You're the idiot who has decided to infer political points from things I have never said. You've made up your mind as to what you think I believe so have fun with it.

On a different thread I let it be known that I am a Libertarian and he has apparently taken from that statement that I must be okay with rape and that I don't believe in basic law and human rights. *shrugs* Can't fix stupid, I guess.

And you somehow inferred that I advocated rape from that? I second girlsmiley~ are you high?

Incorrect. I inferred that you, as you claimed about oil spills, believe that instead of laws and regulations we should punish people after the fact. And that whatever damages are done by someone intentionally or accidentally aren't to be dealt with until AFTER the fact.

Own your philosophy or change it.

there is an online culture/fetish for this, that's not fantasy or SAC. it's scary. complete pack mentality. when acting in groups, they typically follow the same format. i saw the same thing with a pack of wild dogs on the street going after a bitch. there is an extremely dangerous energy there. the scent of blood sending the entire being into kill or fuck. it feeds off of itself. it starts with a small group of dogs, then the entire pack shows up and grows.

That is exactly what it is.

They may have been even higher. Serial criminals will commit crimes for as long as they get away with them, and they can't get away with them any longer once they are caught. The gang on the bus might have gotten away with hundreds of rapes because the early ones were not reported, but they are unlikely to be able to get away with any more. If the first one had been reported, that might have meant the others would not have appened.
