The coalition assessed that the Democrats have historically had very robust “get out the vote” campaigns and took note of the amounts of money that the Biden administration has dedicated to so-called on the ground efforts in swing states. Musk said he wouldn't donate to either campaign because he wanted to remain neutral and let democracy play itself out.

He just signed on for a donation of $45 million PER MONTH to a Republican Super Pac. That's a big signal that the richest guy in the world believes someone's thumb is on the scale and not for the benefit of guys like him. Which makes sense considering all the crap the Biden DOJ is pulling about investigating him, the court denying the pay that his company board of directors approved for him and which the company shareholders have just reauthorized, and more.
