I hate when this happens. I am completely wipped out here. I have the ideas, just not the ambition. Anyone else get that way? I have so much I want to say, but so little time and energy. I can start nearly infinite stoires, but how many get done is an entirely different matter. How do you guys get motivated and energized to acctually FINISH the story your working on? I get about 1/3rd of the way done and just kinda say, "Fuck it". Then I move on to a new story. I want to embelish and really write a good detailed story, but the problem is that I run out of steam. I have one done really, just need to revise and re-write, but I don't want to. I just takes too much effort. Now I have the starts of about 6 stories coming at me. Either wanting me to start the idea, continue with the idea (in some cases), or finish the final process and have the story completed. I just can't seem to do any of it now. Perhaps I should take a break for a few weeks, maybe a month or so to recharge. I start school next week and that's got me down too, extra stress. I'm just frustrated and venting really, but if you have any ideas, I would implore you to share with me your strategies.

Nine times out of ten that happens to me.

My solution?

Just write shorter stories. :)

PS - glad to see you babes.

Glad to see you too. Short stories never satisfy me and I always think they're crap. Have a good new year? I hope so.

So don't be so hard on yourself.

I rotate stories. I have five or six "open" at any given time. If I can't make progress, I put it on the back burner and work on something else, or just walk away from it and come back. It seems to work; the two "E's" I have are both for stories that I let sit for long periods of time both while drafting and while revising. When I leave something for a while, I often find that I come back with new ideas and a fresh perspective.

As you know I'm exactly the opposite. Once I walk away... it's history. And I'm almost at that point with this current project. Help me Obi-Wan - you're my only hope.

;)

I am working on the one story that shall either restore my spirits or completely devastate me and reduce me back to a fearful young boy. I must do it though, or try. It's all I can think about and feel it must be told. I only ask for support in this case. Then I think I can go back to my other stories. Shanglan, I still haven't fixed the story I sent you to submit it.

Get on your hands and knees, lightly bang your head on the floor and repeat the following incantation:

Owah Tahduhn Siam.

Repeat until your writers block is gone.

Man, now you have me all stressed!!

Silly as it sounds, is the area where you write clean and tidy, everything out the way [including distractions?]

I get like this too, when I finally manage to find an hour or 2 to write and everything is blank! At all other times there are ideas running around my head waiting to get free!

My advice - go for a jog and blow the cobwebs away!

Write something every day. Even if you think it's crap, even if everyone else says nasty stuff about it, write something every day. When I did, I had no trouble with writer's block.
