Writing story series - no option

Apologies if this has already been asked but I've written the first part of my story and this is going to be a series. But I don't see any options for it to be added in a series.

I fear if I submit it, it will be published as a single story instead of a series. Do the series option comes afterwards or something?

For a series you will have to have the same title with - Ch. 01, etc. after each one.

That's the simple form. There are more complex ways and someone else will be along shortly to explain all the options, but it's up to you to define the series.

Take a look at my Lit Stuff in my sig and look at the series.

So we just add that in the title? This hasn't been explained in any of the FAQs.

You have to use an identical title + something else.

That can be a chapter/part/episode and a number, prelude, epilogue, or a subtitle.

Milf Chronicles: Prelude
Milf Chronicles Ch. 01
Milf Chronicles Ch. 02
Milf Chronicles Epilogue
Milf Chronicles The Neighbors

Those would all be grouped into a series called "Milf Chronicles" and every time you submit a new story starting with those two words, it will end up the series.

The individual stories/chapters will be organized in alphabetical order, so if the timeline is different, it can be confusing for readers.

Sometimes, you can utilize punctuation to get around that. In the above example, adding the colon after the title causes the prelude story to alphabetize before the Ch. stories. Omitting the colon alphabetizes Epilogue after the Ch. stories. Punctuation alphabetizes before all letters.

One of the things that's supposed to be coming eventually with the new control panel ( see the news and announcements section of the forum if you don't know about the new control panel ) is the ability to group stories into series yourself. However, that's probably quite a while in the future.

Isn't that going to be listed as:

Milf Chronicles Ch. 01
Milf Chronicles Ch. 02
Milf Chronicles Epilogue
Milf Chronicles: Prelude
Milf Chronicles The Neighbors ?

Don't you have to keep them in alpha order?

If not, perhaps you can point to an example?

I'll be damned, I've got it backwards. ( See Danica series )

Using the colon was actually how I got Epilogue to alphabetize after the main series which I had labeled as Pt. for part rather than chapter. A title edit at one point to add the colon to Prelude ( oversight rather than intention to sort the series ) caused it to alphabetize after Epilogue, so I had to drop it with yet another title edit to keep the series in order.

That's sort of strange, because I know putting quote marks on something will always bubble sort it to the top.

If you have written a story series and NOW you want it in order, send a pleading PM to Laurel to retitle it as:

My Series Pt 01 Beginning
My Series Pt 02 First Date
etc.

I recommend using numbering from 01, not 1, because if you get to more than ten chapters/parts it will show as:

Ch 1
Ch 11
Ch 12
Ch 2
Ch 3

Got that. Much thanks for the help. I'm still starting out. I'm glad I asked.
