Back in the 70s, when i was a larval therapist, I became acquainted with Eric Berne's 'Transactional Analysis' school of social psychiatry. TA closely scrutinizes human operations, rituals, pastimes, and the games people play with each other. There was a popular song made about it, GAMES PEOPLE PLAY.

TA really is the instruction book for people. I'm re-reading Berne's, GAMES ALCOHOLICS PLAY, and ordered WHAT DO YOU SAY AFTER YOU SAY HELLO? Berne's thick book about Life-scripts. My copy vanished.

If you wanna get your characters right, TA is for you!

Another great resource is a text about personality. Mine examines the entire spectrum of personality, from specific traits to full-blown disorders. Some folks are vigilant, a few are suspicious, and a very few are paranoid. It covers them all. The girl who sparkles may be Histrionic Personality and an uber drama queen.

When I assessed admissions I used to tell newbies, IF THEY SHOW THEIR ASS THEYRE BORDERLINE PERSONALITY (borderline means half neurotic and half psychotic). That is, if you can see their ass-antler or thong or boxers or the crack of their ass up their skirt and you wanna stab them thru the heart with your pencil, theyre Borderlines.
