I've only just been advised of this comp - only open to residents in UK.

Fiction, non-Fiction & Poetry - 3000k words (For F/ n-F didn't check poetry)

Run through the Arts Council £3,000 first prize + I year mentoring

Sorry, but the closing date is 31/5 but you can enter anything written in last two years including chapters from novels. £12.50 per entry admin fee.

I entered this about 3 years ago Neon. (only cost ten quid then) and for your money you don't get an awful lot in return. No crit. No note to say they even received your entry, just a notice to tell you who the winners were.

Needles to say...

You can enter what you like, however, since they require your actual name and address, I'd be wary of entering anything too hardcore in case you find a queue at your door :D

Hee hee - I think I'll steer clear of pay-to-enter competitions. When there are so many free ones, why waste your cash?

Sounds wise... Wish there were more free music ones...

No problem... I just don't know where you live

Why waste your time with 'free competitions' when you can send your 'stuff' to a publisher and get the same result ;)

Too true. I have no intention of PAYING to enter a comp on a zillion to one shot of actually winning. Not that I think my work is crap or anything... ;)

Ps. Up Norf

In the spirit of Neon's 'publisher' answer. There are free music ones, gigging where the audience consists of the other bands and their hangers on. ;)
