Hey all - not sure if this thread should end up here, if it doesn’t, feel free to move appropriately.

I’m looking for a few other writers to bounce ideas off of, suggestions, or just chat about absolute whatever. Maybe a chat group? Ideally just something easier than a forum.

So, if your enjoy writing in the following categories, feel free to hit me up!

Fantasy
Non-con
Dom/sub
Bdsm
Incest
Mind Control
Fantasy
Non human

I suggest you start a thread here with a clearer focus on one of those topics, with a specific issue in mind. Or you could wade into one of the forums focused on specific topics like BDSM. If you are new I think you will find that you'll get a more prompt and more satisfying response when your query is focused.

Agreed; a little more 'focus' might be well received.
Let me know when you have it going. . . .

Out of these, I'd only consider writing in two, namely SF/F (which you have twice on the list) and Non-Human. The rest either doesn't interest me or actively squicks me out.

I'd be happy to join a writer's group for incest stories.

Agreed. One problem I can see with a writers’ group is getting other writers involved. The AH by no means has all Lit writers, but it does have quite a few.

I am interested in the idea. I would have to find the time.

Would love to join a writing group, though I feel something like a Discord would work well for a group chat, since you can separate each category into their own channels so members can choose what they want to see and interact with.

Well, there's a section of the forum that is the "Writers Discussion Group"

http://forum.literotica.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14

Have you tried that? If you have, what did you find inadequate for your needs?

I know you want something "easier than a forum," but the Story Ideas forum right on this board pretty much functions as a writers group. That might be a good place to start. Or to recruit members for your chat.

There's three ways I can see a writer's group going:
#1 - Writers share their stories for other writers to comment on. Very slow group as most people don't frequently publish stories. Email would be much better than discord
#2 - Writers share say once a week what they've done since the last group share for the other writers to comment on. Email would be much better than discord
#3 - Writers share their thoughts on things sexual including share pictures they find hot and memes they find funny. Discord would be better than email

I just don't see #1 or #2 happening. Writers in the AH are very reluctant to use beta-readers, and #1 and #2 are basically beta-reading groups.

#3 would require writers on the AH developing a big enough fondness for each other that they want to move to a platform that would enable them to spend more time online together. I don't see that happening.

what kind of a writers' group?

I disagree with the characterization of #1, and I wouldn't be so discouraging. #1 describes writers workshopping stories. A good writer critique is very different than beta-reading. A beta-reader can tell you what they liked or didn't like, what worked for them, maybe why it worked, and whether they think it will work with other readers. But readers don't write stories.

A writer's critique should get at the precise story the creator is trying to tell and say why it's effective as told or suggest ways it might be more effective.

In essence, it's the difference between a pithy reader comment and an Awkward MD critique.

Having said that, most AH writers may not like workshopping any more than they like beta-readers. But if done well, giving and receiving critiques from other writers is an excellent way to learn to write more effective stories and develop one's craft, as well as providing motivation to write when motivation is needed.

I would be interested in any sort of group for SFF stories, which might include Nonhuman and Mind Control as well.

I suspect attempting to fit all AH writers into the one group would be a disaster, for that exact reason. But small groups of writers who get along and have shared interests/tastes, that's viable.

I don't see it working very well for a large open to all group. I already work with several other authors and it can take up quite a lot of time. Can't see how a once a week "chat" or even getting multiple once a week feedback/critique from a group is going to be helpful for me. It seems it would take a long time to finish a story that way. My preference is to find one or more compatible writers where we can get to an understanding of each others needs/styles/strengths/ weaknesses/personalities, etc.

But, I also know we're all different — so, I'd say; go for it if it's something a person wants to do.
