ok I'm bored out of my mind right now waiting for people to post in threads and now trying to come up new ideas put can't think of anything right now, maybe I'm just tired or maybe I'm just suffering writers block, or burnt out for ideas. So where do you guys like to your inspiration for thread ideas? Just curious cause I'm bored right now.

dragon usually picks ideas from other people. ^_^

Anyways I get ideas from everywhere really: movies I've seen, books I own, video games, etc.

I think I'm just tired cause usually I don't have a problem thinking of ideas for my inmagination is usually in overdrive, maybe an early night to bed might help.

oh hush, Tears....anyways, i have been considering doing a one on one with a male human and female Vulcan

well I'm off to bed maybe clear my head a littlle bit. I'll post a reply tomorow to our demon bunny thread dragon just to tell you know.

k....we'll occupy ourselves some other way...kimmeh and schizokimmeh, any ideas?

I'm fascinated by cultures and ideas. I thought a nautical story might be fun to write after I took a day excursion aboard a sailing vessel. Forty pages of research and brainstorming later I had a story and a thread. Sometimes I just brainstorm cultures. I read other threads and think "I like that, but I'd do it a little differently." Sometimes I look at what other writers are doing and think... "They'd probably like something like..." Sometimes I want to riff on another person's idea; take a setting or situation and write something based on that.

Brainstorming is the best way to get ideas. Someone throws out an idea and someone else throws out another one. Here's one to get you started:
-Low-technology planet is invaded by high-technology refugees, the losers in a big war seeking a place to hide. The refugees set themselves up as a new nobility.

Oh, hello there, Empress. Haven't seen you in a while. Oh, you've changed your Avatar!

(Conversation in the internets. :p )

Usually, you just need to either rest a bit, or grab ideas from anything around you. Nearly ANYTHING can be a source for inspiration. For example, the wooden desk my PC is on could... inspire me to start a thread about... wood elves? Or better yet, I have a library here, full of books. I could start a thread based on the Read or Die anime where a woman uses her control over paper to fight a shadowy organization...

And off we go.

Actually I think I just needed a rest to recharge my brain cause by now I've thought about two possible anime threads I have been thinking about today. Anyone interested in doing a BLEACH or FLCL thread? If there is interest I'll post my idea for either thread,

Furi Kuri's been done...as for Bleach, i wouldn't mind, but i don't trust my ability to play any of the characters

I really like that idea. I had an idea along a similar line regarding a post-apocalyptic setting. THe last remnants of Civilisation emerge from their underground complexes once the nuclear fire has ended (Yeah, if you've played Fallout you know all you need to :D) and settle themselves amongst the remaining tribal populations. Perhaps going on a grand exodus through the desert, uncovering ancient technology from the pre-war years etc.

It's not a particularly original idea of mine, but I think it has good scope for interesting Role-playing in general. Sorry, bit of a rant there.

As for inspiration, I draw it from a lot of places, music, literature, TV. A lot of the time it just...happens, I get a spark from somewhere, I can't put my finger on it, and an idea forms in my head and I just have to write it down. I usually just say it's my muse at work. :)

I actually take them from places like Domcon or the Skin Two Rubber Ball, or the various munches and meetings that I go to. It not only keeps things fresh for a thread idea and various plotlines, but it keeps me on the cutting edge of the new toys out there and the new things people are doing and lets me enjoy the newer *scary* stuff without putting my poor body thru the scarring.
Sorta like testing the waters virtually before diving off the highdive into the pool. :cathappy:

Interestingly enough, Steiner tried to start a BLEACH thread a long while back with no interest. As a result, and also because I knew little about the show and/or manga at the time, we ended up writing a prequel to what he had offered which is still going.

His thread idea can be found here: Bleach - Shinigami Hangout (OOC)

lol...*waits for Vicky to post again* hmm...something based on Xenosaga would draw my interest

wow looks like people are interested in my Bleach idea, I might just throw an OOC thread up soon
