I was parked on the side of the road waiting for my kids after school and this 6 year old boy ran out in front of my parked car to cross the road. he got hit by a little red sports car. He slid up the bonnet of the car and flicked onto the windscreen. The car stopped and he rolled down onto the road. Fuck that was scary watching it. The child seemed alright, his father showed up and they were gonna take him to the doctor to get checked out.

If it had been my car that had hit him it would have been a lot worse as my car sits higher and he would have just hit the front grill and then gone under......

geez

I can just imagine how you felt and how the driver feels now. I have nightmares of hitting a person with my vehicle as I think that would be such a horrible feeling.

My kids were in the car, so thank goodness the boy was ok. It re-inforced to my kids a lesson about stopping and checking every time.

I'm just so glad the boy was ok, he lives across the road from where he crossed. He normaly is very good about looking first as I see him cross everyday. But it was raining and there was lots of traffic around today. I think he got excited because he saw his Dad walking down their driveway to meet him.

That would just make me absolutely sick. OMG.

Good to hear he's OK though.

<sigh>

Your heart must have just about stopped! I hope the boy is all right. The subject of getting hit by a car is one I'm well acquainted with, as you know. Just the title of your thread scared me terribly. I hope your kids are not too upset by what they saw.

I think if there had been blood etc it would have really upset them, it was more of a lesson learnt for them. We talked about it on the way home. They are scrapping with each other  right now as normal so they must be ok. :)

The little boy was lucky. I have twice seen kids run over with cars and sustain serious head injuries - such that they almost died. Both times it was because the kid ran out in front of the car. :(

This is one reason why I drive very below the speed limit in residential zones and drive at a snails pace when kids are around. It amazes me how parents let their kids play on the street.

That is terrible. I am sorry you had to witness that.

I once witnessed a woman get killed by a red sports car, on a street that the old towne christmas festival was on in Williamstown, MA. What was horrifying was that I was in her postition to cross, but my mother grabbed me and pulled me back, but she went ahead and went and got hit. The guy who was driving was fucking wholey stupid for doing the speed he was at, on a street at night where people are walking everywhere. :(

It is disgusting the speed some parents drive around the streets when they pick up their kids. They need shooting for sure.

Seeing that kind of thing stays with you.

Glad to hear the kid is alright...resilliant little rascal isn't he?

But kids at a certain age are indestructable I think.

A friend of mine got hit crossing the road to the school bus because some idiot didn't stop for it. He was literally knocked out of his shoes. They figure the car was going 40 mph (it was a busy four-lane road, but he still should have stopped). He's lucky to be alive.

When I was a teenager I watched my buddies younger brother get hit by a car. Man what a rotten experience. Wouldn't ask for anyone to go through it, let alone watching your own bro get hit. Of course, the kid was ok, he was a pretty tough little dude even back then, but he did spend a day in the hospital getting looked over.

It must have been hard to watch.

I am sorry you had to witness that. At least it sounds like the boy was alright.

I will go check on him in the morning and take him a book to cheer him up. It must of been as scary as hell for him.

Believe me, hitting some one IS the worst thing you can imagine

Fortunately a broken arm was the only injury

Despite knowing it was the pedestrian's fault (running across road diagonally from behind me) did not stop the dreadful trauma

i've seen it happen too...

My brother got hit by a car right in front of me, - i was 15 at the time and he was 13. He was racing in front of me, got to the crossroad and didnt bother to stop and look, just rode straight out onto the road, and bam! He hit the deck pretty hard. Luckily apart from a major gouge in his ankle from the sprocket of the bike he was ok...

It does spin you out to see something like that. :(

Hope the kid you saw has no lasting injuries...
