Man! They might as well have tossed a coin - huh?

To me, it sure speaks ever so loudly about the ancient electoral system. But as obviously apparent as that matter will be to everyone - it will be a snow ball's chance of ever getting changed. That's where are forefathers fucked up, but they could not foresee the changes that have brought us to where we are today - not their fault - they weren't clairvoyant.

Changing the Constitution is very, very difficult to do. The small states will never, ever go for it. I believe that only a cataclysmic event will instigate such a change. Too bad - not in my life time - don't think so anyway.

Hell, it might be a week or more before Florida tabs all the absentee ballots.

And the coverage! Did you see Tim Russert and his little "dry erase board," with his really bad handwriting? And did you hear Dan Rather babbling about Texas being a taco, California being the big burrito and Florida being the hot tamale? Man - too fucking funny!!!!!

Anyway - it seems that, at least for now - no matter who comes out and into the White House - all voters should be relatively happy with what transpired - after all - the looser will not have lost by much and the winner will have to cow tow to a virtual 50% of America that will be watching and criticizing his every step.

Everybody wins - kinda.

Watchin' the mad, mad world and feeling high - a 10. Have a wonderful day where ever you may be.

08/11/00

Fun and games in F-L-A.

Maybe its time for a change in the electoral system.

I heard a great comment this morning.

"Learning about the role of the electoral college this way, is like learning the judicial system by going to jail"

Have fun kids. If I here one more conspiracy theory (normally I love 'em) about "the good 'ol boys" ballot stuffing, tampering and commiting electoral fraud i'm coming down there and smacking someone.

Get a grip folks and have a good day.

PS to Sparky. Jesus Christ Sparky ya figure Dangerous Dan is losing it or what?

Morning CB -

You mean your jaw dropped or your day?

And - as impressive as the events, the way they transpired took place - they are also impressively rare.

And when all is said and done and analyzed - the cry for reform will be louder than ever.

And I will remain as frustrated as ever - because things won't change.

I'll put $5 on it.

And the sins of the fathers....

Guess Al is kinda wishin' that the fathers of your country were radical populist democrats instead of patrician ones.

5 o'clock eastern seems a long way off.

I'm tellin' ya -

Met the man - worked for the man - was at a party last night with many former CBS folks and they.... well.....

They would not watch him - everybody else but!

As for the electoral college - driving an oil leaking, oil burning, bad tired, and dented - Ford Model T - is more reasonable.

And what makes it that way is......

You can fix the Model T!!!!!!

Morning. Loved every minute of the coverage, especially when CNN had to "take back" the Gore prediction. HAHAHA
Feeling about a 9.5 this AM, even with 3 hours of sleep.

Yeah, I'm tired too.....

The analysis of the news coverage (actually part of my profession) will be of discussionary value for years and years to come.

Hilarious. I know there must be some newspapers out there who went with bogus headlines - both ways!!! I will get to see those over the next day or so - I'm going to abscond with some and frame them up.

And the TV people - I thought, at first, that ABC was being far too conservative in their timing - but as it turns out - they were not.

And then - I fall asleep - about mid-night - wake up around 2:30 I think it was and NBC is calling it for Bush and there's live shots of uber-parties in Austin!!!

Lessons hard learned are always the best lessons learned.

Often funny too.

I've got my copy of the Atlanta Journal/Constitution that says in bold headlines "Bush Wins." Remind you of Dewey?

I am happy to report that both candidates carried their home states. Bush won in Texas and Gore won in Washington D.C.

Then you might just as well plan on placing a saddle upon your pony and heading on down,,, :) <said tongue in cheek> cause conspiracy theroies WILL be flying about regardless of who wins.

It's my strong hunch.....

That "goof-ups," both illegal and coincidental - for the lack of a better term - have always occurred throughout our modern voting history.

It's just that in a case like this - they are not so easily brushed away.

So this is good. They will be closely looked at this time.

I of course understand the strong need for security but you would think that in this millennium year and in particular, in the US - we might have a technical system of voting superior to what we now have.

Old "hit the lever" machines - and punch cards? Please. How'bout spending a little money on this matter? Al. Or George?

In Florida it has been reported that 2000 Jewish voters, confused by some miss-printed punch cards - voted for Buchanan.
They of course wanted to vote for Gore.

Those, lost votes, it is reported - will remain lost - 2000 hits for Bush.

And what do those poor folks who voted for Nader think this morning - almost all of whom would have voted for Gore - oh well……..

Good Morning Y'all

UUHHHHH...Hillary?

NSW......

Not to worry, Hillory is on her way.

As far as nobody carrying??? C'mon - largest voter turn out in the history of a free mankind.

HEHE I have to agree this whole thing is a lil annoying! HELLO I didnt go to bed til 4 am and that was right after they announced that Bush won. Now I wake up to this damn i shouldnt have went to bed!!

There will be a WOMAN president. Chillary in 2004. Clinton trounces Bush's ass. Deja vu.

The most intelligent voters in this election have to be those in Missouri who elected a corpse to the senate. Second place has to go to those voters in New Pork who elected a Razorback to the senate. Third place goes to all those in Tennessee who gave the home boy such a big vote of confidence.

Really!!! The live guy didn't have a chance!

A corpse wins everytime.

You can't sling mud at a corpse - or his widow. It's hard to even suggest that he sucked in office or that his poor widow will suck in office.

The God damn stiff wins everytime.

To bad he can't enjoy it.

I've been thinking about this all morning and I have come up with only ONE other job in the world where the wife assumes the duties appointed her husband in the event of his death.

King.

Any others?
