His world was simple he was the visual epitome of the bad boy. Muscle cars motorcycles tats and a record... owned a repair shop and lived either in the apartment above or the bar next door... In a word... Trouble. Or so everyone always assumed. Maybe he was never letting one night stand be any more than that... A one night stand. It wasn't for not wanting someone in his life to be loyal to and love with all he was or ever would be but none of them was him... None of them ever hit that place in his heart because most didn't think he had one.

She was tired of her "world" that place where she was always expected to take care of everything exactly how the petty and fickle bastards and snobs around her expected. A world where love was little more than a convenient space of time not the caring lasting soul kissed warm embrace of loyalty and truth. Maybe that's why she found herself in this bar... Staring at a ring that no longer meant anything beyond the petty dollar sign that bought it and ended it.

He found that one person who struck that place in his heart and now could she give him a chance? She couldn't fathom someone true genuine passionate and determined to love her but could she let someone else in? Could they blend their very different worlds together or create one all their own?

-----------------
She stared at the ring as it laid on the bar before her. She just wanted to forget. He had barely noticed the divorce being too busy running off to who knows where for who knows what.

The bartender walked over and took the other glass and placed a new drink in front of her and walked away. Almost a little more protective of her since she was an outsider from the regular crew.

Right from when she walked in, she had drawn his attention. Like magnet draws metal. From his vantage point above Heat could make out the ornamate object in her hands. Watched as she flipped it from one finger to the next then back to resting on her palm all the while her gaze remained fixated on it.
She downed a glass in one go and asked for a refill. Heat through the arm of a blonde bitch from his shoulder, brushed past her to the stairs and down towards the bar.
He got to where she was just in time to collect her now refilled glass. She turned sharply to him, her eyes a mixture of anger, sadness and confusion.
"Hey, chill senorita. I'm not gonna drink it...I've already had my fill."
He placed the glass on the table but far from her reach.
"You beautiful seems to me really need someone to talk to. I'm Heat by the way." he stretched his hand for a shake.

A distrusting eye studied him for a moment till she shook his hand.

Alexandra

The bartender puffed up a little more protective of the stranger especially with Heat's reputation.

Heat... Don't start nothin' bro... This isn't one of the regulars who know what to expect from you.

"Puff out Bill or I'll quench ya." he replied with a sly smile
"listen Alex, I mean you no harm...you sitting down here, all wrapped up in thought with damp eyes doesn't really seem to me you're okay."
he paused glanced around then back "and O'Bill here Is right for one thing, you ain't regular in this shithole."

Alcohol is alcohol doesn't matter if it is here or a 5 star prison outing.

She sighed trying to ignore the ring honestly not caring if anyone in this place stole it. Her eyes moved to look over Heat then around the rest of the bar then back to her drink.

"hmm, that's cute." he said with a little chuckle.

He notice her glance at the ring before throwing her gaze to the club. He wasn't sure what her deal was but certainly wouldn't be far from the heart break thing. One of the reasons he does not do relationships .
"Come on, I think you should see this." Heat stood, stretched out his hand to her.

She chose to trust him she had no intention of leaving this bar any time soon and Bill seemed a little protective so her hand slipped into Heat's offered hand.

What could that be that would be more important than my bourbon?

"Wait till you see it." Heat answered then winked.

He led her upstairs, up to the roof. To his special spot, a bench carefully placed near the edge of the roof. constructed rails for support circled the spot. Soft red puffy carpet decorated the floor.
from the spot up above the six story building one can clearly see all of NY as it came alive at the dead of the night. Cars whooshing below, colored light illuminating here and there...and tiny busy pedestrians who to Heat just rigmarole aimlessly.

"I come here when I'm in my worst state. Looking down there, feeling the soft wind at my back and the shiny stars above ... I just wanna yell away all my anger, all the bitterness and hurt. Thing is... it always works." he leaned on the rail then turned back to stare into her eyes .
"Wanna give it a go?"

I have spent too much off time yelling and fighting and tolerating and...

She took the ring and threw it as far as she could toward a city she had nearly learned to hate.

That felt good though.
