Reading this board has given me an idea and I dont know if it is acceptable or not. I write romance/eroticas and would like to write a lesbian one or a gay one... I am not a lesbian, would that be offensive?

If so, what if I asked someone who is to help me write it, would that be better? :nana:

I don't see how it would be offensive. The stoties are meant to reflect the author's mind, not reality.

By all means use a consultant, if you feel you need to.

I don't see why you can't. People write things, like a cultural analysis of Japan, without being Japanese, or "true confession" type stories without being anything like the main character. I'd say, talk to people. Ask a gay/lesbian friend if what you wrote sounds ok if your not sure. And if you want to ask someone to help you write it, go ahead and ask. It's a story, not a research paper. It's supposed to be fantasy, after all :).

Write whatever you want to write, there are no rules stating you can only write in your own ballywick. In fiction I do not even care if you choose to portray us in a poor manner, or in a stereotypical manner.

Have a go at it.
