Sorry this is kind of a self pity thing but feel free to answer....

(why self pity - well I am a little low and the pain is kinda pissing me off - sorry not my usual self) but see the thread Stonedagger's Story

Anyways - Would you ever dump your significant other just because he/she had recently broken both their legs - even if you are the squeamish type and their legs were rather a mess??

Hey man, it could be worse...

My first love... also my first Long Distance relationship.. we'd been together four or five months, talking everyday, we were making plans to meet.. Then I finally managed to get a picture of me scanned...

She came down with some kind of deadly disease the next day and I haven't heard from her since.

no! of course not! in fact, once they got past the worst bit of it, there are some fun nurse-patient games i would play. starting of course with an intimate sponge bath :p

damn

I hate those deadly diseases!
I think I have one or two of them in my legs...

i'd like to believe i wouldn't

in fact, i'm most certain i wouldn't

No, absolutely not. That's when they would need you the most.

I've been through several shoulder operations with my husband. It was ugly and rather gruesome, but that's just the way it is. And just recently, when he tore the muscle in his leg, he required my help to get around.

Only the most shallow person would break up with someone just because they were hurt. There's always an underlying reason.

And I understand totally about the self pity thing. :)

Oh yeah

Hey that sounds like a description of me and my legs - except I would probably fight with myself - no I am ugly my legs are gruesome - hey man no way I am gruesome my legs are ugly...things like that!

But to answer the question...

Honestly, if my lover really injured themselves they'd be more likely to break up with Me because they'd get sick of being mothered all the time...

Heh, I Hope I don't wind up with someone who has a problem with injuries.. As a man with over 100 scars, chronic bronchitis, asthma and every disease in his family you can think of... Well, let's just say I'd already had two car accidents, nearly drowned, nearly died in a housefire, and had had a major invasive surgery by the time I was 12.

Hell No. I stick by people I care about, and I absolutely refuse to think that there is ANY reason to dump someone because they're in pain.

Stonedagger, to have legs that may have a few scars or that don't work at all should not turn a person away :) Just give them time to adjust to the fact of it all, just like it will take you time :)

Even though I'm both squeemish & a leg man, I think I'd stay with them out of a sense of duty, I'd stay for my self respect, I'd stay because it's nice to be needed & appreciated. I'd stay because that's how I'd like to be treated.

I'd stay because I cared. Appearances get a girl noticed long enough to get to know them, but character qualities are what I fall in love with.

Cheer up Stonedagger, some women are turned on by the idea of a big strong helpless man.;)

Beauty is only skin deep

I fell in love with my SO without seeing him, so looks are really not important to me. Loving someone from the inside out has been a wonderful experience for me, so I don't believe I would ever consider leaving a relationship because of injury or sickness. My instinct would be to get through the tough times and healing together, not separate.

Self pity away man! I have heard the itch is terrible from a plaster cast. And then there is the difficulty of getting around. Here is a :rose: for you. Something small to cheer you up. :)

No I would not dump my SO because he had broken both his legs. Even if I was the squeamish type! (Which I am not)

I went with my hubby when he had his triple bypass. I lied, (said I was a nurse) and got to see him in recovery. Tubes, blood, scars, catheter (sp?) bag etc.

If you love someone and they have an accident or a serious operation you stand by them.

:rose:

The body is just a shell. It's just a thing that we carry our souls around in.

I wouldn't ever leave just because of some accident, or something physical.

The only thing that I could think of that would make me leave, is if the accident changed their whole character. But I would stick around long enough to see if it could work with this *new* person.

Glad to hear your feeling better! :)

NOPE...cause that would mean that he was laid up in bed and totally at my mercy! *insert wicked giggle here* ;)

So, how badly did you break them?

Do you have casts or splints?
Can you walk with them? Wheelchair? Bed rest?
How many bones? Compound or Simple Fractures?
Details, I like details.

It would depend on how close I was to the person on how involved I would want to be in his/her care.

If someone put unrealistic expectations on me, I would let them know what they could expect. If that wasn't enough, well...they better not whine to trying to get their own way.

I would do anything, and have, for the people I love. And I am very, very good at it.
