I guess I shouldn't be surprised that power relationships on this scale are out there, but this opens a world of questions for me. I can only imagine the Versaille-like etiquette this mini-society must have, but honestly the whole thing seems pretty damn cool to me.

hehehe, it does seem a bit creepy, but either way, the place sounds like it would be very poly-ish, which I can't say I'd be too comftorable with.

The idea is very appealing on some levels, but I'm not sure I have a personality type that can handle total immersion. This house seems organized somewhat differently as indicated here:

We encourage family submissives to become active in the vanilla community in which the estate is located, attending school or becoming involved on outside social activities. This is not to say we do not maintain full-time control of our people, just that control does not necessarily mean withdrawing from society.

Most houses of this type require that the sub withdraw from society and that seems really unhealthy.

Well, it's certainly interesting. I wouldn't for several reasons. One, I'm not poly. Two, they don't mention safety measures on there. What about consentual. Also, it seems to me that they're only accepting sub/slaves. I have to say that in itself is the creepiest to me. Sounds like Master and Domina whats-there-names are looking to set up a group of people completely under their power.

On the bright side, they're very careful not to take anyone who's not really prepared for that kind of lifestyle, so . . . . who knows?

This thread has got me thinking. I think the simple answer is no, but boy, would I LIKE TO! In terms of fantasy potential, this place is hot. And I agree Marquis, respect due to the people who are this dedicated to D/s to make their dream happen. The thing is, I wouldn't trust my own judgment to join something like this because too often I get carried away with ideas and lose touch with reality. I could quite easily see myself falling for the fantasy and letting my better judgment go out the window. If there were problems with these people and they were total freaks, I still may see the emporers new clothes and applaud wildly. There have been too many times in the past this has happened to be funny anymore. I hold anything remotely cultish at arms length because i am very susceptible to brainwashing and I need to protect myself.

Kidding aside, I think it is a cool concept, but the only way I can see it work long term and on a "fair" basis is a community that has come together for love or friendship and then decides to live out their kinks in a more free and open space. I know a lot of couples where unfortunately both have sub desires, or (quite rarely) both are dominant. Or we have the versions where in a couple only one party is into the lifestyle, but the other isn't, though willing to accomodate/tolerate the other's desires in a controlled environment etc. I can see how that can - if clearly defined and limited - such an arrangement could be beneficial to all parties involved.

With "by birth" families becoming less and less strong I could imagine a "family" created that way to be cool - but the sexual aspect of BDSM sure would have to be a very carefully balanced variable thrown into that equation.

Cool concept in general - but slightly creepy in that particularly presented case.

LOL, I think if you were in charge there would be little need for concern and plenty of those willing to serve you in the most dutiful and devoted of ways.

I think the concept is good, and from what I have read so far (not read all of it...time ), those who are running this particular venture have the best interests of all in mind, and are not intent on unfairly using others to line their pockets...seems they are just as willing to financially and morally support the concept as they expect others to do. Of course, anyone can put forth such an impression, but then they have to maintain it as an illusion if it is not real and that is not always easy even when the intention is good.

All that being said though, it seems to play to that ideal many see as the dream of D/s and poly which rarely plays out as expected in actual day to day living. More fall by the wayside than succeed long term, and the dream becomes little more than a nightmare. It is not impossible, but just a lot more difficult than it is to find one good relationship.....IMHO wanting to have several good relationships which work for all involved stacks the odds against those involved almost from the beginning.
