CRAB CAKES! Sorry to tease you all. I made a huge platter of delicious crab cakes and they so rule, but my family refuses to eat them. I'm so annoyed. I'd eat them all myself, but I'm on a diet.

What do you love that everyone else hates? Or what can you make that totally kicks ass? Feel free to hijack this thread for random food comments.

None of my kids will eat chicken & dumplings, and I love them! So, every once in awhile, it's fend-for-yourself night, and mom makes a pot of chicken & dumplings. The best part is they're even better left over.

None of my kids will eat chicken & dumplings, and I love them! So, every once in awhile, it's fend-for-yourself night, and mom makes a pot of chicken & dumplings. The best part is they're even better left over.

They won't eat chicken and dumplings! What are they? Communists or something?

Next time you make them call me up, I'll help you deal with them... the dumplings I mean.

OMG. The exact same fucking thing happened to me with salmon cakes! The BF wouldn't eat them because they contained celery. I almost cried. I was so pissed, I threw them in the garbage. (Drama queen? Who, me?)

Put 'em in the freezer and we'll eat 'em next week when I come up. If my throat starts to close up, you know what to do.

And I'll make us some kick-ass okra.

That's exactly what I'm going to do. We've also got ten pounds of gulf shrimp in the freezer, so I'll make some scampi too.

Okra is wonderful if it's cooked right - takes a southern cook, though.

Vella, I love you, but you do not understand okra. When fried it becomes crunchy and delicious. When stewed, it is not sticky, if cooked correctly. Sometimes I eat it every day for weeks.

(And yes. My grandma, who taught me to cook okra, is from Arkansas! )

i just cant.
my ex-outlaws are from alabamie and they made me try it every single time i went down there...ugh! oh god..that and black eye peas...collards...i can eat the collards but...yannow...im sure they wouldnt like the northern food i grew up with.

sigh im ranting... a sure sign its time for bed.
