Only of it's crappy written. But then, it would be the crappyness that weirded me out.

Nope. Unless I know the author, I'm usually not aware of the writer's gender. Names and AV's can fool you.

A woman could write a story about a male author who writes a story, in first person, in a woman's voice... hmm...

but as regards the first question, go ahead, I'd like to read it!

I do it on very regular basis. In matter of fact, I'm very proud of my most ambitious effort (Quick Plug for Autoerotica), which is a masturbation scene written from a female 1st person POV. Critically acclaimed :D.

I find it a lot easier to write female characters, as I am such a girl that it's been mooted that I'm really a lesbian in a bloke's body. All the favourites of my Lit stories are written from female POV.

So, in short, no, I don't think it's weird at all. Either that, or I'm extremely weird.

No more weird than I felt reading "Beautiful Joe" or "Black Beauty" as a child (dog POV and horse POV respectively.) And Tolstoy also wrote a story from a horse's point of view, which was made into a play called "Strider". And there are hundreds of books written from the POV of space travelers, mythic swordsmen, hardboiled detectives and vampires all penned by people who -- as far as anyone knows -- aren't such people themselves.

Of course, perhaps Shanglan is distantly related to the horse who dictacted 'Black Beauty'...

I've done it too

I love writing stories in the first or second person...

I have stories posted where I am a polar bear, a mother, a vibrator and just submitted one where I am a mosquito...Ya i guess I am pretty weird...LOL

whether I pull it off or not...that is up to the individual reader. but I do like what I write but then again I am partial!

So far I've done the following:

- Eight from woman's perspective, 3rd person (Fear, Lust, and Vanity; the 5 Rendezvous chapters, and Conviction: In Media Res are posted on Lit. Two Cats in Heat is pending).

- Three male first person (one posted to Lit, A Request for Help, and two more also written, one rejected and one pending).

- One interchanged third-person man and woman (X-Men 3: Additional Aftermath, my most highly acclaimed work).

Good stories all, or so I like to think. I write women like Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets, though not completely. :)

I don't see where the problem is. Not only has it been done, it has been done many times.

The only problems I find with it are when it's done badly. Tyhen again I find this a problem with any writing. Go figure.

Have I done it? Yep, but then again I've written a story from the point of view of three different people. (One male and two female.)

Not at all, provided its written well and in a believable manner.

Neonlyte's Burning Bridges is one of my favourites, so much so, I was convinced for a long while (until joining AH) that he was a woman.

Believe me, that's quite a compliment. ;)

I kinda prefer it, really... I mean, I should think a normal porn-writin' guy knows the kind of shit I want to read--and to get the female's point of view is my favorite. I like reading about the chickie who likes sex how a guy imagines chicks liking sex. All the cliche's, too.

The huge cock, the nigh-virginal girl, the innocent-to-total-slut-in-sixty-seconds thing, the wanton lust and money shot, the very "takin' it" style, the cock worship in general.

I'm a total guy. I like stories that read like better versions of my favorite porno movies. Like "Bookworm Bitches" or "My First Sex Teacher" or "The Opening of Misty Beethoven" kind of stuff.

Can a woman write that style? Sure. Do I find guys putting out more of what I like? Definitely.

Jack King is my hero, because I'm a total chauvanist pig. I wish he'd get on with "Tempting Vacation".

I wouldn't consider it to be weird unless he had her thinking or doing impossible or silly things. I would feel the same way about a woman who did that.

Yeah that kind of thing. Not exactly realisitic, just stoke material.
