Regulations be damned they could not stay away from each other. They were in the same department on the same team in the Special unit. It was beyond against the rules not that their Sarge Mark Spencer cared. He had known both of them for a very long time and could tell that they were both the best thing for each other.

Mark had worked with him since the academy and had served with Jessie's father in the military before that. He had watched her balance him and him reign Jessie in when she gets too "focused". Mark however was no fool he knew he could not protect them and their relationship forever.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Jessie walked into the briefing room after putting her gear away and beating on the heavy bag for a bit. The criminal got a slap on the wrist and the victim they had to talk down from killing him got 10 years. The only thing that prevented her from putting a bullet in the crooked business untouchable who caused the man to try to fix things himself was her love of her job and her vow to protect. Even if that meant protecting a slime who just happened to be the victim for once in his manipulative life.
Eric... one of the latest team members walked in before her and looked to the Commander.
We might want to keep this brief Sir... Jessica...
He fell silent after hearing her walk in and the commander nodding to him already knowing what had happened when she had to appear in court as she had headed the team in that talk down situation.
Jessie... Have a seat we may not have enough right now but there are enough divisions now keeping an eye on him. We'll get him... It may take some time but we will get him.
Mark tried to convince her he knew that look and knew that Mitchell could not really step up and calm her for now with team 3 sitting in on the briefing. He just had to hope that she would calm down on her own or this was going to be a LONG briefing.
She just nodded to him and sat down resting her badge on the desk staring at it for a long moment as the briefing began.
Mitchell "Mitch" Kelly
Being the best of the best wasn't meant to be easy. The scumbag got off on a technicality – having a smooth-talking lawyer had its benefits.
For now.
Jessie's face leaving Court had been like thunder. Mitch knew she was furious. She had done her job, and done it well.
He wasn't exactly happy about it, but he knew that the law had to be seen to be done, and sometimes, shit happens..
Justice was different. That would come, with time.
Eric's steadying influence would help. Even though he was fairly new to the team, he was an experienced operator, and new well enough to keep quiet as she filed in behind him.
Mitchell just hoped Jessie could contain herself, at least for the briefing as Team 3 were sitting in as well.
Of course with him and Jessie being on team 1, they considered themselves superior to the other teams, but they all had to work together.
Mitch saw Jessie place her badge upon the desk and stare at it. He also sometimes doubted if he had made the right choice in doing this work, as it occasionally infuriated him, but he had sworn to protect, and to serve, like everyone else in the room.
"OK People….."
Sergeant Mark Spencer, the Team Commander started his briefing for their next assignment.
As Team 3 were here too, it promised to be far from your usual job.
Mitch's attention drifted for a second, as he had decided that he'd try and help Jessie focus her attention somewhere else later.
He had seen her pound the heavy bag earlier, and knew that physical activity helped dissipate frustration. He had often used the heavy bag himself, or sparred with another member of the SRU, which helped.
A row of photos appeared on the screen in front of them all.
Mark had a laser pointer in his hand and was indicating the subjects of their upcoming call.
Time to pay attention.....
We have all the players in this call. Another hostage situation... this time on the university campus. Sophomore Victor Allen holding his step brothers fraternity hostage. He keeps saying something to campus security about trusting him to set it right. Tracy I know team 3 has handled some incidents on campus o we will differ to you for vantage points...
Before he could finish Jessie spoke up.
I will be the negotiator on this one. He seems to women more and Tracey will be busy helping you.
She had read the file tossed to all of them. Something was turning in her mind already on this call and on this situation. Walls up back to work mentality though Mark saw something deep behind them... she had made a connection before even meeting him.
Mitch had also seen the 'Walls up, back to work' signals Jessie was giving off.
He remembered back to his own Kappa Alpha Frat days, at the University of Florida.
Back then, hazing was tolerated, and many a student underwent an unpleasant or humiliating (sometimes both) experience in order to become accepted by the rest of the Fraternity.
He wondered whether something similar had gone on here. As far as he was aware, hazing was now illegal under State Law, in several states, so it was a pretty universally abhorrent practice.
Mitch was running through in his mind the equipment he was going to need.
As backup medic on the team, and one of the assaulters, he'd have to carry both 'flashbang' grenades, and a pretty comprehensive medical kit.
Mitch flicked through the file, noting a few salient points.
He had been used to getting his intel from the briefing, rather than a file.
It was pretty much going to be for Jessie to talk the guy down, and crumble his resolve, so he gives up, when he sees the futility of his position and what effect his actions could have, not just on the rest of his life but everyone else's in the building they are in.
Whatever her play was, he'd back it. Even if he didn't like it, she was the negotiator, and rule number one, when negotiating with hostage takers was to never put the negotiator's credibility in doubt.
If there was any doubt if the negotiator was telling the truth, then innocent people could die.
Tracey from Team 3 seemed a little ticked off, but then Jessie was right, she'd be busy elsewhere, and Jessie was the 'senior' negotiator, as she was part of Team One.
As they all filed outside, and dispersed to get their equipment together, Mitch matched his pace with Jessie's as he asked her:
"You OK? Something go click in your head in there, 'cos you seemed a little intense?"
Every interview conducted even remotely around around his father and step mother seemed like they were covering up something. His step brothers are lying how can someone with his GPA and skill set with computers and tech be as worthless and crazy as they claim he is. None of the "new family" trust him don't believe is is worth anything even though he is doing better than any of them. Something doesn't add up.
Catching up with their field computer expert.
Jake I need everything about this kid. Including his mom what is heir connection. An interview with her was not in the file for some reason. Find out what is up with that oversight.
She glanced to Mitch for a moment she had a gameplan in her head that she knew none of them would like but that wasn't going to stop her. She knew she could solve this and get to the bottom of it.
"So you're saying the kid has been set up by his step-family?" Mitch asked Jessie.
Mitch couldn't believe there wasn't a transcript of an interview with his natural Mother. It was Standard Operating Procedure to interview all the interested parties in a case like this.....unless she can't be found?
Jessie was right – there must be something missing!
With his skills set & GPA, this was a smart kid. He must be really desperate to do something crazy like this!
Mitch could tell Jessie has a plan forming in her head. He just hoped it would work.
She was good at looking at all the angles, but she could also be impulsive, and as he was older the her, he saw it as his job to keep her balanced, and to point out any potential flaws in her plans.
"So, are you gonna share? You obviously have some ideas – I can almost hear the cogs whirring in your head, Jessie?"
He needs someone to trust him and believe him so I start there and after seeing why he chose his step brothers.
She glanced over to him an attempt at a reassuring smile briefly gracing her lips.
We need to get there so lets move guys.
Within a few moments they were on campus and in place. Tracey Mark and Jake in the lobby of the faculty center security office. Eric was talking to people who knew the young man or his brothers. The rest of team three were human shield for negotiator leaving the rest of team one to take up sniper positions.
She talked Victor into standing on the covered porch of the historic house. Talks seemed to be going good till the topic of his mother entered the picture.
Aggitation Jess...
Mark spoke into the headset the only thing that kept the teamed connected in the field.
I know... Jake what have you got for me?
Jake relays that the mother was moved from her care facility Ward to another Ward for more mentally dangerous or troubled than she had shown any sign of the paperwork was signed by Victor but he has sworn he did not do that and the almost found it strange that the father suddenly was the only one delivering paperwork even though it was always signed by Victor.
Then her plan started to show. She moved around her shield which was not uncommon she brought him back down a little before telling Mark have a patrol unit pick up he father and politely don't take no for an answer. With that called out to Victor.
Victor I know you don't feel anyone believes you about your mother and the paperwork... I can get you over to see her and fix this but you have to give me a reason to trust you.
With that she removed the bullet proof vest and dropping it she walked closer her hands out to show him she was unarmed. Team three started to move till Mark and Tracey in unison told them to stay put.
I am trusting you right now Victor now you need to release the fraternity theseguys here behind me will take over watching your brothers. You and I will get in that black suv right there an we will go sort his out at your mothers care facility.
Victor seemed to still be erratic but by the time she was on the porch he had let go of his shield and grabbed.
She called out.
Stand down team three the brothers will be joining us at your earliest convenience at the care facility the commanders have the address now clear the path to to the truck. Everyone stay back Victor is trusting us and we are going to trust him.
Mark didn't like it nor did Tracey but they both gave the across the board stand down order.
We will meet you at the facility and Jake clearly knows your thoughts as handwriting program is enroute from HQ.
Mitch wasn't sure quite what had got into Jessica. She had literally thrown away S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedure) and taken the incident in another direction.
The fact that she had single-handedly defused a volatile situation was impressive, but it appeared as if she had thrown everyone off balance, including Victor, the aggrieved party.
Her decision to involve his birth mother was a brave one, as it could open a whole new can of worms, especially with her mental health history but maybe, just maybe, she had been wronged too?
As the SUV with Jessica and Victor roared away from the scene at the Campus, Mitch jumped into another, with Team One's Sergeant, Mark Spencer riding alongside him.
"Uh, Sarge, do you have any idea what Jess is doing?" Mark was in the driver's seat, so he gunned the engine and off they drove, following Jessica & Victor to the Medical Facility.
"Nope – Mitch. I was hoping you could enlighten me!"
"Well, I guess we're gonna find out soon enough. She seems to have an idea which just popped into her head and she's gone with it. I just wish she told the rest of us first. If this goes right, we'll look good, but if it goes belly-up, there will be hell to pay, not least by me!"
Mitch nodded.
"I hear ya, Sarge. I don't like it either, but she does seem to have gained the trust of this Victor kid. I guess we back her play now, since I don't have any other plan."
As they drove across the city, Mitch tried to figure out Jessica's next move, whilst Mark got on the radio to arrange another car to pick up Victor's father, as Jessica had asked.
After a few moments silence, Mark spoke up, choosing his words carefully.
"Mitch I know you & Jessica are close friends, but if this goes wrong, I don’t know how much protection I am going to be able to give her."
He paused before adding:
"She went off procedure, took off her body armour, exposing herself to, in my view, needless risk, deliberately stepped into a team, member's line of fire….."
Mitch just nodded in reply. There wasn't really much he could say. Mark was right on every count.
Mark turned briefly towards Mitch, his attention on Mitch for a reaction.
"You do realise if this goes wrong, it might not just be her up on charges, don't you?"
Again, all Mitch could do was nod. "Yes Sarge, I hope she knows what she's doing, else we could all be in the grinder!"
Jake hearing the Sarge and Mitch through the headset chimed in.
Guys... All the vest removal and all that... not sure but her trading places with a house full of fraternity boys as the hostage she can get to and into the hospital and get him to see his mother to further calm him. Beyond that I think she suspects that someone forged his signature and is trying to make the kid think he is losing his mind or something. I am at the facility and have a copy of the kids signature and she may be right... it does not match the signatures on the papers to move her and limit her guest time.
He talked to someone there at the facility with him for a moment.
Guys they are saying that there is absolutely no reason for her to be in this ward of the facility. She has gotten worse since being moved here. They were suspicious his Dad delivered the paper work to have her moved and told them her son made the decision after she attacked the dad on a visit. No attack was reported by the nurse on duty the father never goes int he room IF he ever shows up and up until 3 months ago the son was the only one bringing any paperwork about or for his mother or her care. Even they think something is rotten guys. Victor is her power of Attorney but if something were to happen to him the facility would revert to...
Mark grumbled piecing it together as well shaking his head.
Let me guess everything reverts to the ex husband? No other living family... married at least 10 years then...
Yep. Jake's voice sounded reluctant to agree. Boss I think that's where her mind is.
Mark knew her well enough.
She is proving to him a very deep level of trust. Connect with the target... complete. Jake tell Security if the boy has the gun on him NOT to react I repeat NOT to react just let him get to his mother's room. Jake find a way to get the father and the brothers just in case to sign some sort of paper work tell them its standard procedure or something then...
Compare them got it boss.
Jake seemed to perk up. Eric is already across the street rifle on the mothers room window in case anything goes wrong and the facility said her son knows she loves getting sunlight for her little mini rose so he would not close it.
Good keep us posted we are about 10 minutes out they should be there a couple minutes before us.
Mark seemed relieved that everything was so far falling together.
She might just pull this off Mitch... She might just pull this off. Crazy thinking just like her dad may just work like it usually did for him too.
Mitch took in all that Jake had said.
There had been more to this than first met the eye!
Jessie did have a gift. She was able to make leaps of deduction, which eluded the other members of the team.
Maybe it was women's intuition, maybe just a hunch, but whatever, she seemed to have got to the heart of the matter, again.
Mitch marvelled at the way Jessie had got the boy to trust her which was both risky and very effective.
She had shown him that life was worth saving, even someone who he did not know.
How had she known that he wouldn't fire?
They'd probably never know, but Jessie had taken a calculated risk, and it had paid off.
Mitch looked over at Mark, and grinned.
"Like Father, like daughter!" He quipped. "She sure seems to have her old man's luck, anyhow. She'll pull it off, I'm sure"
As they sped toward the facility, Mitch checked his pouches to make sure his magazines were loaded in properly, and made sure his sidearm was loaded, but safe in his holster.
No point in taking chances. He hoped he wouldn't need it, but then so did every Law Enforcement Officer the world over.
He had sworn to protect life, and he would. Sometimes, though, you needed to shoot one person to save more.
He hoped today wasn't one of those days.
After a few minutes they pulled up at the Gate to the Facility, and the Security guard there waved them through pointing to the left side of the parking lot.
As they pulled up, Mark & Mitch saw several other cars, and then they heard Jessie's voice in their earpieces.
"We're on the Second Floor, far left side in the back."
mark had called iup the plans of the builing on his tac-computer.
"Okay, Mitch - Access is through the side Fire Exit door on that side, or through the front, but we don't want to scare everyone, do we?"
Mitch smiled, and shopok his head briefly before replying:
"No Sarge - I'm going for the Fire Exit. I bet Security will have it covered. I'll just be there to back up Jessie in case things go bad."
After a few seconds of running, he reached the Fire Exit, and sure enough, two security staff were there. They nodded in greeting and stood aside to let him in.
After all, the was carrying a sub-machine gun, and obviously a Law Enforcement Officer, doing his duty.
As he got to the second floor he transmitted to the team:
"OK, people Mitch in position, about ten metres away from Jessie's position - in the coridoor, Fire Escape side."
Jake was standing by the nurses station with the clearly irate but containing himself with all the very armed and uniformed officers standing around outside of security. The two step brothers were seated behind the desk with their team three escorts standing over them looking agitated as well. Jake finally spoke as he looked from the father to the sons and the nearby staff.
I need everyone to sign this form its for our records for who was present in this situation and make sure everyone is safe and accounted for... Standard procedure.
He held the paper out to the father first who seemed most hesitant to sign it. One of the Dr's to help with the ruse took the form and signed it holding it back out to him as team three chimed in.
If we don't have a list the Chief of police will go through everyone that does sign it for the names of any who didn't and I am sure the facility would hand your name over to save their hide sir so go ahead and sign it... Now.
The father grumbled and signed the paper as did the sons and Jake smiled talking into the headset.
Civilian presence form has been completed scanning it in now for digital copy for the Chief.
Copy that Jake Eventually he will get tired of the form popping up in his computer and kill it but for now we just have to follow orders. Eric...
Eric's voice popped through.
I have the solution Sir. He is sitting by the bed and Jessie is just watching them talk for now.
Copy that Eric Wait for her signal.
Mark then walked over to the two brothers and father and talked with them getting information without letting on that he was fishing. It was clear that the father was not pleased that the boy was the one with all the power over his ex wife especially with all the money involved. He did not feel that the boy had the proper business head on his shoulders to deal with it he was not thinking long term since it would not take all of the money to take care of his mother he felt he should be thinking about how to invest it and how Victor was not willing to listen to reason. Mark just stood there with that consummate poker face just listening then taking the brothers off to the side to talk to them one at a time as well. Knowing they would not leave the nurses station without an officer with them he spoke low to Jake in the headset. Keep an earshot on anything they say to each other about all of this and shoot us a message if they say anything any of us or Jessie can use.
Jessie... We would like to know everything is alright. Victor... mind opening the door so we can see that everyone is fine.
The door slowly opened as Jessie stood there in the open door. Everything is fine Sir. We have been admiring the roses and talking about how she misses the nurses in her original ward here. Any idea why she was moved yet boss? I can find no reason talking to her why she was moved nor reading her chart Sir.
Yeah we have some ideas Jessie Jake is running some files right now.
Jake cuts in.
Sir as you know when their are medical papers involved The big wigs run handwriting and all that.
Get to the point Jake... Jessie sighed.
Jake nodded. The signatures don't match... Victor did not sign the orders. Tech is running analysis right now from the civilian signature list we should have the results soon
The father began getting nervous and belligerent demanding that he and his sons be allowed to leave immediately.
Mark stepped up not threatening but making sure that it was understood as he spoke.
No one can leave till this situation is resolved sorry you need to calm down and go sit down sir... Now.
Team three moved to rest their hands on their weapons punctuating the sit down. Till there was a problem... Victor ran out hearing his fathers voice and quickly escalated grabbing his dad and throwing him back into the room and slamming the door behind them.
Damn it... Mark growled. JESSIE?
Everything is fine Mark... We are just going to have a little talk after Victor lets his mother out of here. We need a wheel chair waiting at the door She has asked for someone named Katie... a nurse who used to walk with her in the gardens and talk old movies. Get her here now please.
The Dr nodded when the request was made and Katie was there in a few moments with a wheel chair and a huge smile seeming very glad to be getting to see her favorite patient again.
Mitch wondered what tricks Jessie still had up her sleeve.
She seemed to have everything under control.
Victor had done something incredibly stupid, and very very brave, by grabbing his Father, and hauling hin into the room. His Father had obviously timbled to the signatures ruse, and knew there was no way out if he signed the paper, as his signature would be seen as the fraudulent one.
Team 3 were a little jumpy, Mitch wasn't sure if it was nerves, or the fact they wanted to prove themselves in front of their Team 1 colleagues, but they seemed pretty keen for some action.
Jessie was in control. As Katie, the nurse arrived with a wheelchair, and Victor's Mother saw it was her, some of the tension in the room seemed to disappear.
Victor's Mother was helped to the door by one of the other boys and once comfortably sat in the wheelchair, Katie took her off for a walk aroubd the gardens, where she would be safe.
Victor wisely agreed with Jessie's suggestion that the door be left open, which as well as providing line of sight for Team 3, allowed everything that was said in the room to be heard, and as Mitch thought it would be a good idea, he turned his body slightly to allow the tactical mic and cam on his shoulder to record the conversation in the room.
He had allowed his sub-machine gun to rest on its sling, but had a hand draped nonchalantly on the handgrip of the weapon, just in case...
Jessie seemed to be urging Victor to ask his Father some questions, and Jessie looked briefly at Mitch, through the open door way and made a small signal with her fingers...a double circle and a line....followed by another double circle:
'Are you recording this?'
Mitch just made the OK signal, with his thumb and forefinger so she would know he was.
The first time Jake talked low into the headset
Dad is guilty. Tried matching Victor's signature and failed. Certain things are just too personal in writing to the person. BUSTED! He forged signatures on medical forms for various care for Victor's mom. Don't need to tell you all that is a crime with Victor being her Power of Attorney.
That's all I needed to hear Jake thank you.
Jessie held her poker face in room but the smile could be heard in her low tone through the headset.
Victor... I believe you and so does every officer out there. Our bosses sent back the results of a handwriting program. We know your dad forged your signature. So now you have a decision to make. Walk out that door and go to the garden with your mother and let me do my job... Or you can go after him and none of us would blame you at all but we would have to arrest you and who would your mother have then? She needs you Victor more than you need to get revenge on him.
She slowly edged a little closer to the kid who was tense and pacing with something in his hand. Eric spoke into the headset cold and prepared.
I have the solution Jessie.
Which meant he had the sights of the sniper rifle on the kid if needed.
Fine Eric Wait for MY signal.
She could tell Eric did not want to have to take the shot young enough to understand the kid in a way but he would if needed. Victor paced his hand in his hair clearly thinking but not necessarily escalating yet.
He will tell the Doctors here and the whole hospital and the school what he did and that I am not crazy?
Yes he will... Doctor Jacobs said he will see to it personally. As for the school We can tell them what has happened and they can deal with it there. You need to stop worrying about him he is in DEEP trouble on his own you need to focus on what is good for you and your mother now Victor she needs you.
Victor stopped and stared at the little tea roses on her bedside.
We have to move her roses back to her other room I will do that for her. Picking up the roses he walked out the door. Jessie breathed a sigh of relief and flagged the guys in.
Get this slime out of my face.
She walked out picking up the other rose on her way and walked over to Victor with a smile.
Mitch had let out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding.
The relief throughout the team was palpable.
As the Father was led away, with his other sons in tow, Victor seemed to grow slightly taller, as the weight of what he had done fell from his shoulders.
Jessie walked over to Victor with a smile on her face, and Victor smiled back, relieved that his ordeal was now over and the authorities would be made aware of what had really happened.
Mitch knew that Jessie would see to it that there would be no retribution for Victor. Victor seemed satisfied it would all be taken care of, and showed this by making the gun safe, and placing it on the table, for Jessie to bag & tag for later.
Jessie & Victor walked to his Mother's new room, and after making her comfortable,
Victor promised 'he would come back, but had to go with the Police to make everything right'.
As the team regrouped, back at the vehicles, they were in buoyant mood.
Jessie rode with Victor in the back of one SUV, and Mitch & Mark up-front.
When they got to the Station-House, an Attorney was already there, waiting to take statements from Victor, Jessie and a few of the other officers, for use in the court case which would result from today's events.
Back in the Office which the Team used, Mark wanted to debrief the team on the day's operation, but first he ushered in a woman from the deli down the street, who he had arranged to deliver drinks and sandwiches for everybody.
Being the Team Leader, he knew what his people liked, and soon everyone was enjoying their food & drink.
Mitch & Jessie sat next to each other, as they ate, and when no-one was looking, Mitch laid a finger on the back of her hand and whispered in her ear:
"Nicely done, Officer Daniels!"
When she looked over, he winked cheekily, before adding – "When we're alone later, I'll show how much I really admired your moves, with some of my own!"
Then the sound of eating, drinking and light conversation was broken by Mark's voice.
"Okay ladies & gentlemen, time to debrief on today's Op."
Mark then went through the various points and congratulated the team on a job well done.
He looked at Jessie then paused…
She was watching the board smiling softly. He was sure that Mitch had said something he normally did. Team one knew about the two of them but team three didn't so better safe than sorry. Then it hit Mark... Why she took negotiator in this assignment. Her mother had hated that she became so much like her father and never really trusted her with anything and then having to put her dad in a nursing home. This one had been very personal with Jessie. Why had he not seen it before.
Dismissing everyone he looked around with a smile.
So we all going to grab a beer at Mac's or you family folks gonna call it a day?
Jessie nodded to calling it a day and stood up walking to the locker room changing and walking in to the in house gym and began working out.
Mitch followed suit and made his way to the lockers to change into some shorts and a T shirt.
Whilst Jessie started working out, Mitch grabbed a skipping rope and started a slow, steady pace. He often found this relaxing, after a stressful shift.
He watched Jessie move, and marvelled at how she had started going out with him.
As Mitch watched Jessie’s slim sinuous body moving as she exercised, he picked up his pace, and was soon skipping at an impressive pace, loving the feeling of the rope swishing past his ears, and he lightly hopped over the rope with every turn of his wrists.
As he built up a sweat, he was enjoying the view of Jessie in her workout gear, bending, stretching and twisting.
‘She had better be careful.’ He thought to himself, or he wouldn’t be responsible for his actions!
After a decent work out which seemed to become the norm for her she took off for the women's showers and got cleaned up quickly and walked back out to the main area glancing around for a moment. She was not sure if she felt like cooking or just grabbing something to eat on the way home.
She looked around for Mitch it was safe to to be a little more relaxed with each other now that team three was gone. She pulled her hair back into a loose ponytail and waved good bye to the others as they left before sitting down talking with Mark for a bit.
You connected with the kid... your mother not trusting you when you turned out more like your dad than she would have ever imagined and never liked. Big risk... trying to prove yourself to a ghost... or to yourself Jessie?
Mark sat there in an almost fatherly manner talking to her.
You profiling me Mark? There were holes in this case... either they were there due to the dad having money or the lack of knowledge in our department... so are you telling me I was the only one that saw it?
Mark smirked.
Redirecting... fine... you profile the negotiator in today's job. What was the negotiator's motivation what was the negotiator's connection to the target?
Mitch saw Mark approach Jessie through the window to the main area, and figured he was talking through her decision to lead the negotiations today.
Mitch knew a little of Jessie’s family background, but not in too much depth.
He also knew Mark had also worked with her Dad, so he thought he would give them space to talk.
The conversation seemed quite animated from his viewpoint, but amicable.
Mitch looked over his training plan, keeping an eye on them both, but not really worried. He poured a cup of water from the cooler, and sipped it, as he read, and decided the next step was to use wrist weights to try and speed up his punches.
After a while, he saw Mark get up and leave, smiling at Jessie as he did so.
Mitch tossed his empty cup in the trash and went through into the main area.
They were all alone, so he saw no danger in kissing her lightly on the cheek.
“Good job today, by the way, Jess. Your Dad would be proud!” He stated.
He offered her his arm and opened the door, so they could go home, as the light wind of the fall evening enveloped them.
They got to their car, and as they got in, Mitch asked:
“So you want to cook together, or get takeout?”
While for the sake of mail from the bosses over Mark they both kept their own homes and tended to just use whichever one they wanted at the time. Glancing over once they were both in the car.
Have they reopened that Greek restaurant near your place? Really wanting gyros and Spanakopita.
She smiled curling against him it would not be the first time she left her motorcycle in the precinct garage.
Or did you have something in mind for us to fix together?
Mitch smiled at Jessie's suggestive comment.
"I quite like the Greek option, although I was thinking more of preparing a salad at your place....something wholesome and sweet, and which I could eat off you!"
He grinned as he said this waiting to see what she'd say in response.
Aftere a pause he added:
"And with the Greek option, I could always take you later, greek-style....you know, in the ass!"
He gave her his cheeky grin again, waiting for the slap which was sure to follow.
It had been a while since they had a chance to be passionate together, so he was hopeful they could spend some alone-time together tonight.
She laughed she knew it was his defense against worrying about her reckless actions of taking off the vest so she would forgive him plus they have had some entertaining fun with ideas like that but never anything too out there neither of them really went for anything too out there. Its why they worked together so well.
We could go to my place... I think I have something lurking around that we could fix.
At his other comment she glared with a raised brow and swatted his arm.
I don't think so...
Mitch smiled at Jessie’s mock-punch, as he knew he’d asked for it.
Once they were both settled into their seats, he started the engine and pulled smoothly away and out, into the evening traffic.
As they drove towards her house, Mitch smiled, turned to her and said:
“When you started to take off your vest, it took all my self-control not to shout ‘NO!’ at you.”
He paused, for breath and effect before continuing:
“From my angle, I could see just a hint of the swell of your breasts, for a half-second, under your shirt, and I silently prayed you’d come through this alright, as I’d really miss not having you around.”
He looked over briefly and pointedly looked at her breasts under her shirt again. Although Jessie was slim and toned, he loved that she wasn’t all hard muscle under her clothes. Yes, she was firm to the touch, but still all-woman. Her breasts were one of her best features to his mind, and she knew to make the most of them in their adult-play.
He hoped that tonight, he might be able to caress them again, and feel her soft skin, and hear her breathy gasps as he teased her tender nipples to erection.
His attention was drawn back to the road ahead, as they approached a red light, and he had to brake.
He took the opportunity to rest his hand upon her knee, and caress her.
It had been too long since they had last been able to share some alone-time, and he began to feel his desire for her build.....
I know you and Mark were not thrilled by that move but... I could relate to him... He wanted to feel like someone trusted him and what greater trust is there than someone trusting you not to shoot them Mitch.
She sighed...
Reminded me of how much my mom hated my turning out more like dad than her. That I was more combat less caviar. I have always wished that she would trust that I made the right decision for me. What better way to Connect Respect Protect than having that level of connection?
She smiled at him and placing her hand over his on her leg.
Mitch I am not reckless for no reason... and I have no plans on getting killed and you had better not either. You can be a tad reckless too you know. Bomb scare in the old arena... ring a bell?
She smiled watching him knowing he was watching her breasts and move to snuggle back in the seat once they were at the red light.
Mitch grinned back at Jessie. She was right, of course.
As the lights were on red, he turned to her and said:
“Yeah, yeah, yeah….Ok, ya got me. But that was justified too, ya know!” He protested.
“As I have said a hundred times before, there were two thousand people in that Arena and I had five minutes to check that case to make sure it was a bomb or not, and then defuse it. EOD would never have made it through the traffic in time!”
The honk of a horn behind directed his attention to the now green traffic light and he lazily waved an apology to the driver behind as he pulled away again.
He caught Jessie’s grin out of the corner of his eye and tried to keep his eyes on the road, but the memory of the taut swell of her breasts under her shirt was distracting.
He managed to keep the car on the right side of the road and made it onto her driveway intact.
He shut off the engine and opened his door, pausing to enjoy the view of her getting out, and the sight of her trim, toned ass & legs in her fitted lycra exercise pants.
As they walked up to the house together he slipped an arm around her waist and kissed her cheek, smiling as he did so.
“I’m glad we made it through today.” He said, simply.
Yeah and Jake to walk you through it. What was it you always said about him Our tech geek with serious combat skills. I honestly don't know what our team or the others would do with out Jake and brother and their insane computer and tech skills.
She smiled at him and sighed hearing the horn. It was nice to get home she wanted to wash away the day especially since it had her dealing with a hospital. She was never one for hospitals just like her father. Either visiting or heaven forbid as a patient. Luckily the hospital that tended to work with cops more than the others had standing orders if she was admitted she stayed Sedated as often as possible. A well earned precaution when she fought being put under and ended up fighting the orderly enough he got the Dr by mistake and ended up with a broken jaw for his troubles as well.
That got her mind going as she glanced back with a smile as she got out of the car. Getting to relax with a glass of wine or a couple long neck beers with Mitch in the whirlpool tub. Maybe some fruit or cheese cubes. She winked at him and headed to the door with a sway of her hips.
