Virus watchers have discovered the latest in a line of viruses targeted at file sharing networks.

The Duload worm is spreading across the KaZaA file-exchange network, antivirus firm Kaspersky Labs warns today based on reports of infections from Italian internet users.

Duload appears as a Windows executable written in Visual Basic either 18432 bytes or, in its compressed form, 7680 bytes in size.

Damn! I'll be looking for this one tomorrow at work. We've had a lot of calls for klez and magistr lately.

Just one of the reasons my week sucks.

BTW - don't use Kazaa for MP3's - use Limewire or somesuch. And make sure your AV program scans all downloads. In fact, even though mine does that - I scan the folder I save them to again before I open them.

sounds exactly the same as another worm they had a few months ago.

It might be made by the recording industry.

I know several programmers that they've contacted.

Another techno geek strikes again, but he is only trying to point out the security risks of systems attacked! Give me a fucking break! Find a job that contributes to the society.

I personally find this hilarious. And a form of poetic justice.

Napster murder

I will never forgive the RIAA for their murder of Napster.

I take offense at your comment, I am not referring to anyone who is a techno-geek that works for a living. My comment is directed at those that build and distribute worms and viruses thru the system to show how smart they are!

He's got a point there. With computers or the Internet, we'd never have to hear from this caveman again. :D

And what do you do? Professional squeegee repairman?

Er, nevermind. I mis-understood as well. Sorry about that. Happens to the best of us.

developer, working on Devcon and .NET right now, and you??

Clarification: i was making fun of bknight. I read further and found out that he was commenting on the people who write the viruses. I apologized.

Me? Communications software/finance currently. Have experience in XML (sequoia software) and VoIP protocols (h.323. SIP, MGCP, MEGACO)

Devcon? what's that? I have tinkered with learning Vb and trying to put Access Db's on web sites, unsuccessfully I might add.
