Name: Wladyslaw Szpilman
(Based on a real person in history, and the main character in the movie "The Pianist",
but with my own tweaks and my own interpretation of said character, of course.)
Time: Sometime in the early-mid 1940s.
Genre: AU History/WWII/Horror/Sadism/Mature
Setting: A concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland.
Do you have any questions and/or suggestions, then just PM me!
Otherwise, then feel free to just jump head-first into the scenario,
and have fun with it, twist things around, add your own visions!
__________
Just another Jew, arriving at a camp during times of war...
__________
No more than a couple of days had passed since the much too crowded train's belated arrival in Auschwitz, Poland; the tension and fear lay heavy in the air, the setting sun casting its final rays upon the cold, gravelled path ahead, painting the snow an eerie scarlet. Twilight slowly crawled across the darkened sky, already laden with foreboding. The Nazis were relentless and intimidating, and their methods used were considered even worse; their sharp voices spilling callous words, with fists and countless firearms to emphasize dominance further, and yet their reign of terror was far from over.
The last Jew out of the railroad vehicle, with squinted eyes and his numb, shaky hands raised up above his lowered head, stumbled over his feet just as a gunshot had rung out in the falling night. One of the armed guards in command at the camp had snapped at something one of the prisoners had said. Apparently, from here on forth, nothing was certain but death - in one way or another. To be sent off as guinea pigs for medical experiments and questionable research, like vermin first caught and then exterminated in new, unapproved ways, or lambs sent off to slaughter; but the Jewish population in all of Europe was slowly but surely headed for not war, but a massacre issued for total annihilation.
Three whole days in a dark and cold cell-like environment, without any means of communication or so much as a signal from the outside world, were enough to unnerve and tear just about any individual asunder. Wladyslaw Szpilman was no exception. He had found himself a little nest, sitting in the far left corner of the pitch black room. Darkness seemed to feed on all kinds of evoked fear; whether it be real or imaginary; gruesome shadows, transparent silhouettes, sudden movements, loud noises, distinct voices, or anything that was noticeable through the many layers of horror caused by the invasion of an inner demon in every man's mind. Sanity was no longer a given.
