Character Profile: Calysia [Cah•lee•see•ya] Shadowmane - Before the Horde Excursion to Northrend - After the Battle of Angrathar the Wrath Gate -
Some History of the Character Portrayed
"Calysia! You had better be safe! Remember to keep your hood up or your ears will get cold!" her mother called after her. Even though she was a warrior in the Horde army, her mother was still concerned. And to be honest, she wished that more people cared as much as her mother did. After the death of her father in the last war, she had been the one to take up most of the work around their home. She looked back over her shoulder, the tightly wrapped skins of the hut shining from the oils on it, a smile spreading across her snout. As she hung her satchel over the horn of the saddle mounted on Keijuu's back, she patted his fur, working her way down to his cud filled muzzle to give him a bite of golden apple.. The family kodo had seen many wars but was still young and still very strong. Strong enough to be used in carrying weapons across the Borean Tundra, as the Warchief had ordered. Even now, Thrall was in Orgrimmar awaiting her and several other Tauren to arrive so they could make their way down to the shores at Bladefist Bay so the excursion could begin.
"I will mother. Take care of my little brother Kal. Make sure he eats his greens," Calysia hollered back across the Mulgore plains as the wind kicked up. She turned her head to the sky as she closed her eyes, allowing the wind spirit to wrap around her. She kicked her hooves on the ground as she then knelt to the earth, mumbling a soft prayer to the Earth Mother. To protect her family. To protect the soldiers. To protect the Horde. To protect Azeroth overall. She had not a care for her own well being.
She jumped on the back of the Kodo, gently nudging the side to turn him towards the east. She looked back once more as her mother waved alongside her little brother. The little tuft of a mane on his head blowing in the wind as he waved to her. "Take care, Calysia! Bring me back something!" he called out.
She nudged Keijuu once more and the Kodo jumped into a slight gallop, thundering across the plains. What would the land to the north bring? How would she change? She couldn't let that bother her. She could only let the Earth Mother guide her way.
*Time Skip to the Battle of Angrathar, the Wrath Gate*
Blood flying, spurting from all the fallen Horde soldiers. Alliance soldiers crying out as heads were decapitated. Calysia turned her head as she looked about, her eyes frantically searching the battlefield for her commanding officer. But there was no sign of him. She thrust her blade into the mangled body of a scourge bastard, bringing her head up once more just as she felt her torso become burning hot then a freezing sensation was sent through her very core.. She turned her head. Her eyes frozen on the one that had impaled her, her blood turning cold as ice as it slipped down her form. Her legs limp from exhaustion as she was held in mid-air.
"You will serve me well." was all she heard before everything went dark.
Her eyes soon fluttered open. There was no pain. She was cold that she could tell, her breath frozen as it blew out her nostrils. Fear shot through her as she looked about looking for what could be causing her to feel this way. Then she felt it. In the corner of the room. The fear that continued to rise within her was caused by none other than him. The one they had come here to end. To stop from conquering Azeroth. The Lich King.
"Rise, my death knight and show me what you can do," came his voice like a frozen dagger hanging in the air as she felt something bump up against her. She looked to her side and it was a Draenei soldier. His armor colored bright blue and gold, that of the Alliance. She watched as he slowly moved into a standing position. Another bump to her opposite side. She turned her head, it was a Troll. His tusks broken and blood showing on his head, as if it was frozen in place near his red hair. She looked back in front of her. Weapons. They were glowing. An eerie presence indeed. Something she hadn't expected. The ones that moved ahead of her were grabbing at different weapons. The troll grabbed two swords, both covered in runes. The Draenei grabbed an axe.
"He wants me to fight them? No. He wants us to fight each other," she thought to herself. "Fight." That's all it took for the two forms to lunge at her - weapons ready to kill.. She jumped out of the way, dodging as the blades clanged on the floor. She reached for a polearm, something she wasn't used to, but that's all she could do right now. It had a scythe on the end of it. She bent backwards as she ducked out of the way of the axe, it cut part of her mane in the sweep in front of her face. She kicked her hoof out and knocked the Draenei off balance, bringing the scythe down into his chest, killing him with a ripping motion up his throat.
The laugh of the Lich King was bone-chilling as she looked to the Troll. She focused on him as the Troll laughed as well, but it wasn't the same type of scornful laugh. It was saddening.. "I be wantin' mercy from ya, lady Tauren. Kill me. Rip my heart out of my chest. Dis not be how I be wantin' ta live, if I even be livin'," he begged. Calysia couldn't stand it. She felt herself not sure what to do. Then she kicked him down, his weapons flying to the floor. Clang! She brought the scythe down.
"Earth Mother guide you." Her own voice cold as it echoed in the chamber, blood flying for a brief moment before freezing against the marble floor. She fell to her knees. She heard heavy steps behind her, plate boots moving closer.
"Good. You will prove to be of good use to me and your beast will be of use to you as well." Calysia raised her head to hear the sudden grunts of her beloved family Kodo.
"Oh Keijuu," she sobbed as he grunted, the beast's eyes glowing bright and breath frozen over, showing signs of having been resurrected.
*Years after the fall of the Lich King, the Cataclysm shook Azeroth, a few years after Garrosh Hellscream escaped to Draenor through a time portal after his crimes in Pandaria. Vol'jin has died, Sylvanas is Warchief. The Legion has incurred wrath upon Azeroth and war is imminent. This is where we come in, well, where I come in..."
Stepping through the portal from Thunder Bluff into Orgrimmar, I looked around at the red dirt streets bustling with life. "It's good to be back here," I said stretching after the tedious portal jump. Home just wasn't the same anymore. Not many of the Tauren really wanted to look me in the face. Even though Garrosh had pardoned most of the Death Knights and Vol'jin had allowed us refuge here on Kalimdor, it just wasn't the same. And with Sylvanas as Warchief now, she didn't care. She just saw us as people to carry out orders. Besides, my mother had died and my brother held me accountable even though I hadn't been home. I remember Kal screaming at me after I had come home, after the Lich King had fallen. My mother basically collapsed. My breath cold against the warm winds of Mulgore. Her heart just couldn't take it. The rumors had reached back to our small village and her heart was broken. She died that evening from a stress induced illness. And Kal blamed me - he joined the Horde Army and I know he's here in Orgrimmar, but he must be purposely avoiding me. I walked over to the inn in Valley of Strength before going to Grommash Hold. I tossed a few gold onto the counter for Gryshka before downing a pint of ale. I had never drank Ale before. But since everything had gone to hell with my family, I didn't care anymore. It wasn't as if it gave me any pleasure anyway. Well, it did make me a bit tipsy, but that was beside the point.
I walked out and headed over to Grommash Hold, leaving Keijuu tied up outside. I walked in, bowing slightly to Sylvanas, our Warchief. "I have returned. The crates made it perfectly. Baine appreciated the delivery." I grabbed my pay and turned to leave.
"Wait, Tauren," the Banshee Queen hissed as she held up a rolled up paper. "There is trouble rising in Dalaran. A mage will be available to conjure a portal for you to go there."
I turned to regard her. "Dalaran? The new one above the Broken Shore? Why? Why there?" I questioned.
She shrugged. "I just know of the intelligence my lackeys have told me. You are to meet a Human there," the word seemed to seethe on her lips as she curled them in a wicked grin. "Just go there on this mission and return to me. Do not fail me, Death Knight."
I bowed, "Yes, Dark Lady." I turned to go out.
I rested for a time before calling for a mage. The Portal was summoned and I paid handsomely, to which the goblin mage giggled with glee. I walked through. I burst through the other side, catching my frozen breath. "I will never get used to that," I muttered. I pulled out a stone from my satchel and called out Keijuu. He grunted hard as his hooves hit the ground.
"Let us see if this Human is here, my pet," I muttered, running my fingers through his mane, as we walked through the streets to find the Inn that our 'source' was to be at.
