World of Darkness

Ok.. well... the other day, WyldeKarde mentioned something about a Vampire thread, and it got me thinking. So, i guess what im wondering is if anyone would be interested in doing a thread based on White Wolf's World of Darkness campaign setting. You would be open to play Vampires, Garou (werewolves), Mages, the Fae, Wraiths... ummm... any other White Wolf games that i cant remember at the time (except for non World of Darkness ones, like Exalted, or Abberants, or Psions).

so, i guess im just trying to gauge whether or not there would be any interest in a thread like this... if so, ill get started on one right away...

just leave a message if you are curious or interested...

btw... if you arent sure about any of those character types, or have no idea what im talking about, but still want to play, pm me... ill help you develop a character, and explain how the world works...

world description

okay... i figured i should post a description of the world, for those of you who arent familiar with it. (and to reassure you that you need little knowledge of the game world to actually participate in this thread)

White Wolf describes its campaign seting as "Gothic Punk". Its exactly the same as our world. It has the same people, the same cities, the same history... well, sort of. The cities are dirtier, the landscape darker, more sinister. In this world, Vampires stalk the city streets at night, preying on the weak, and embroiled in the Masquerade. They control many of the human institutions, like the media and politics, and Garou rule the countryside, roaming the wilds, fighting their own crusade against the Wyrm, the corruption of the Earth itself. Magi inhabit this world, fighting their own internal battles. The upstart Traditions, your standard spell slinging warlocks, are locked in combat with the technology wielding super scientists of the Technocracy. Humanity also has its protectors, men and women who hunt the hunters, destroying supernatural creatures wherever they find them.


ok... i have gotten several pm's asking what type of characters i am looking for. i guess what i had in mind was a fairly open thread. ill not restrict what kind of character you want to play. That includes the type of character, as well as whether you want to play a good or evil char (although, in this world, there really is no cut and dry good or evil.. its all shades of grey). so, just write up what you want to play, including a basic description, background, powers (dont worry too much about the rules here, as long as you dont go overboard in raw power... if you have no idea what powers a specific character type may have, then ask in your pm, and ill give you some ideas), and motivation (ie, what their goals may be, so i have an idea of where they might be going in the thread). ill be posting as the main antogonist (which will be a Mage, fyi), as well as any other short or long term characters needed to move the story along, or introduce info into the thread. i see this as kind of an open ended thread, where all of you can plot your own schemes, work together or against each other as you see fit, and generally just interact and have a good time. many of the character types dont get along too well (a good example being vampires and garou, or hunters and anyone else).

the game will take place in my area, southeastern wisconsin/northeastern illinois, mostly around the chicago area... ill find a map of the area to post soon. if anyone had any other questions, you can either post them here, or email or pm me.

Powers: Alora is telekenetic and has the ability to sense when someone is lying. She can at times read peoples thoughts but recieves a horrible headache from it. Other then that she has studied all types of martial arts and forms of self defence.
INFO: Alora is a very prominant nightclub owner. Her nightclub however is mostly occupied by the supernatural. Alora herself is very secretive and only seen once in a while. She is not evil but nor is she good. She isn't celibate by far but she keeps all her emotions guarded. Secretly however she hopes one day in her very long life she might find a companion to share some of eternity with.

(Cringing) For those of you who do know him, he will be limited. I'm cutting out the war form and only leaving Dark Angel. By the way, his bio is below:

Rank: Former Second-in-command of Hell. Now, rogue good/bad guy demon lord
Appearance: Muscular angel with black wings. Wears a red shirt and breastplate. Has lance on back and sword at side.
Alignment: Anywhere from lawful good to chaotic evil. In this case, he will be Neutral to Chaotic good
Misc.: Lucifer is his old lover, and determined to get him back(not openly) She killed an old love of his, and he has never forgiven her. He has replaced Lokken(don't ask, but look at the old threads for more info), as Belial's chosen, and goes around dimensions, restoring order(not necessarily good or peace). However, he finds this job tiring and constantly mourns for his old fallen friend. This has been known to drive him into psychotic rages. He is on this world to bring order, but that's the extent of his knowledge. Also note that his magic is limited to a few simple spells. His main strengths are his intelligence and his weapons. Note also that he can fold his wings into his back, effectively hiding them.

Physical statistics: Long, tawny-carameled, tangled hair frames a petite, heart-shaped face. Large, somber eyes, amber-hued, absorb all that happens near. A slight frame of 5'7" holds within a deeper power. Lips flushed with life, softly beckoning.

Calling: Groomed for leadership from childhood by the Ventrue family when she had proved to be naturally gifted in the magical arts. Truly blood-tied through ancestors to this ancient clan as well, and seen as an anomaly - a new breed of both Mage and (soon to be) Vampire. An asset to the family, and a powerful pawn to the elders.

Victoria has dutifully grown into the postion she had no choice in choosing for herself. Her 18th birthday marks her day of embracement into the fold. She knows that she is to inherit the life of an immortal, but knows not all that it entails, and was sheltered from it's details for most of her natural life. Within the past year, she was tutored in the ways of the Ventrue, and hides her uncertanties as her day of passage draws near. She wears an ancient amulet, given to her upon the eve of her 18th year. The significance of it is unknown.

Of importance: Victoria has a twin brother who was abducted from the family as a small child. Also extremely gifted with magic, his whereabouts have been hidden, and Victoria knows very little about him. However, her other-worldly senses tell her that he is still on this plane of existance.

you should see it, my books are just stacked areound my room. Vampire, Mage, Abberant, Aeon Trinity, Exalted, BESM, 3rd Ed, Star Wars (both 3rd ed and the old West End version), Shadowrun, In Nomine, Rifts, Pallidium, Mechwarrior, Wheel of Time (3rd ed compatible)... gah.. im sure there are more... multiple sourcebooks for each game... and me being the not organized person i am, i have no idea where any of them are at any given time...

Yep ... only the Players Guide & Monster Manual are out ...

The GM Guide was suppost to be out in Novemeber 2002 ... but I think its now schedule to come out this month ... After that then there is Freeport & Befallen books to come out ... But who know when ... *shrugs*
