World Day Of Prayer Today 3/3/03

People all around the world will be praying for change today. Pray with them:

>At 3:33 PM wherever you are on 03/03/03, feel within your heart that
peace
already exists in North and South Korea. You are not asking for peace
to
prevail, but rather, KNOWING it is in place NOW! Then, when you are
ready,
pray this beautiful prayer from Dr. Lee with great enthusiasm:

>

>The Declaration of Humanity:

>

>I declare that I am a Spiritual Being, an essential and eternal part
of the
Soul of Humanity, one and indivisible.

>

>I declare that I am a Human Being whose rights and security ultimately
depend on assuring the human rights of all people of Earth.

>

>I declare that I am a Child of the Earth, with the will and awareness
to
work for goals that benefit the entire community of life on Earth.

>

>I declare that I am a Healer, with the power and purpose to heal the
many
forms of divisions and conflicts that exist on Earth.

>

>I declare that I am a Protector, with the knowledge and the
responsibility
to help the Earth recover her natural harmony and beauty.

>

>I declare that I am an Activist, with the commitment and the ability
to
make a positive difference in my society.

>

>Then give thanks that our spiritual work has had a powerful effect.
Gratitude is one of the most important parts of the process.

Thank you everyone, there is no power greater than the power of prayer.

Except it is all crap. Sorry. Peace isn't in place and just saying that it is won't make it so.

Okay, honestly, how old are you? Because judging from your idealism, naiveté, and AV (Britney, ick), I'd say you're about 12.

Do what makes you feel useful...

Just stay out of the way when the world moves in reality.

Peace Through Superior Firepower. :rose:

EWWWWW... is that who she has in her av? I didn't even notice.

It would explain a lot though. Most of her fans are young kids.

Force and Love

History is littered with both those who believed firepower was all that counted and those who held up only open hands of peace in the face of violence.

The difference is that for every firepower freak a bigger one just comes along and blows them away, whereas, the power of love and the stature of those for whom it has directed their lives just keps gorwing, be they living, eg Mandela, or dead, eg Gandhi.

One speck of light penetrates darkness, so, in hope and love, I pray for peace, for I'd rather light the light for life than smother it with the heavy hand of agression and cynicism.

Think what you like, you receive the consequences of your thoughts and actions.
I hope you all have a beautiful day, and one day learn to love yourselves,
namaste.

Thank you from my heart.
Peace be with you. We shall unite in prayer at 3.33pm with everyone in the world. May we all forever be one.

Yes, three is for the trinity. But people of all religions and none are praying today, it is a charged moment in time.

warmlips, the prayer you posted is not a prayer to any god except the god called "self." I guess that's ok if you believe you are God.

I think of prayer as communication with God, who has the ability to do something about what concerns me. I don't see a lot of use in praying to myself. I can meditate or just sit and think, but that doesn't make it prayer.

There is no such thing as a "World Day of Prayer." The reason Congress passed a Bill requiring the the President to designate a "National Day of Prayer" each year was to acknowledge our need for the assistance of a "higher power."

The first day of prayer was declared by the Continental Congress in 1775. Congress then set a "Day of Prayer" each year. Then in 1952, Congress passed a new Bill authorizing the President to desginate a National Day of Prayer. In 1987, Congress passed a Bill that more clearly defined the concept of the "National Day of Prayer. In Reagan's 1987 proclamation, he stated, "On our National Day of Prayer, then, we join together as people of many faiths to petition God to show us His mercy and His love, to heal our weariness and uphold our hope, that we might live ever mindful of His justice and thankful for His blessing."

warmlips, if you want to pray to yourself, go ahead. I'll stick to praying to Someone a little "higher up."

edited to add: This year, the National Day of Prayer is May 1st.

I love how your kind can always find just the right amount of condescension to place yourselves above us simple realists. Your ideas are as much fantasy as your vaunted opinions of yourself are. Good luck with that ego and have a nice day.

warmlips, when I posted above, I didn't realize you were Hindu. I have since read your post with the "namaste" ending.

In that sense, I better understand your prayer to "self."

To each their own, but if I were to solicit prayers to a Christian God, shouldn't I acknowledge what I'm doing?

just a thought.

How realistic is it to expect global peace, when we as a civilization cannot even have peace in our own relationships and communities...?

*Reality check*

I had the same reaction you did, Texan. It seemed like it was a prayer to pray to yourself. And then there is her title, she calls herself a goddess. Not to me, she isn't.

I'll pray to my God, not to her or to myself.

With different time zones.. how did the "whole world come together" at 3:33 pm?

Was it done in sections?

I'll bet you don't get an answer because it would require logic. :D

Interestingly, World Prayer Day is coming up on March 7....an international day of prayer observed in 170 Christian countries since 1918.

Meanwhile , along comes this new Internet 3/3/3 Day in the 3rd Millenium...

Today is the third day of the third month of the third year in the millennium. The date has inspired many people independently to turn to God in a special and concerted way.

The beginning of what has become global intercession began only a few weeks ago. Ted Haggard is the president of what is essentially an Internet prayer meeting called the World Prayer Team.

"We didn't think anything of it at the beginning," Haggard said. "But then we started receiving e-mails … from believers in Asia … in Canada … in Africa … in Europe, and we thought, 'My, is the Spirit of the Lord saying something to the Church here?' "

And the message was always very much the same, he said — "that God wanted more people throughout the world to pray for the pivotal situations we're facing in the world right now" on March 3, 2003.

Either way...prayin' never hurt anyone.

ah! No wonder I can't figure out the answer.. I'm not capable of logical thinking ;)

Nah, you got the logic just fine. There is just no answer to your question from the goddess without logic who started the thread!

I wish you all love, happiness and peace. You'll call me a hippie now I imagine! :D I apologise for any misunderstandings that have occurred from my posts. I did post the first one in a rush, I wanted to share it, the gist of it was from a friend who was gathering several hundred people together to focus their prayers from the heart to encourage peace in Korea. In addition I read the Ted Haggard message and several other sites which encouraged prayer for yesterday. Why not embrace an opportunity which only happens once? A lot of people all over the world were praying, it was a special day. The time zone difference meant that every hour many people could be praying at the same time as other people, obviously not all of them at once. Perhaps it would be positive if people acted more with their hearts as well as their heads, then we wouldn't be in this situation now.
I am sure that there will be peace one day, it is not dependent on what anyone says, it is what they do.
Love, peace and joy,
