Actually... it occurs to me I didn't put that quite right. I wasn't trying to make a show of it.

Honestly, I've been grinding at work for sometime. EL could tell you, I'm a machine--a workaholic. I've been butting heads with the economy and my own sense of accomplishment, lately. Much stress. Pretty rough.

And, for something to break? In my favor? For the time and effort and talent I've poured into my occupation to go recognized? Its very satisfying.

I barely picture myself with my current income--no kids or marriage or major liabilities. I make about $40-50k in my field, which is great for the times, but honestly... putting in 80-90 hour weeks to make that happen just shows that I'm good at squeezing blood from stones.

To make twice that? On a regular work schedule--the kind most people enjoy? I didn't think that was in my future, certainly not at twenty-seven. I figured I'd have to sweat and grind and put off friends, family, and romance like I've been doing for another twenty years.

And prestige. Running my own department. Making my own rules. And rubbing elbows with the affluent? Travel? Seeing Germany again? England? Atlanta and Chicago and LA?

I nearly fainted sitting in that office.

I hardly believe it, right now.

Joe,

Our views may often differ but Congrats. You've worked hard for what you have.

Presently, a 1995 Delta 88. I do have my eye on a Park Avenue, now, though.

A fucking Buick!

Dude! You are not allowed to even look at a Buick until you're 50 years old and/or have a heart attack!

The Olds, however, go back a few years and...sweet. :)

Well, to be honest, I'm 6'6" and 250lbs. I need leg and headroom like a mofo. I've never really considered a non-GM product before, though...

...and I will be working at an Audi/Land Rover/Jaguar place...

...I wonder what kind of cars are nice out there.

I have a 6'7" friend who said a Nissan sports car fit well - I'll ask him which one. He drives a Mercedes C series at present and walks normally. This is gonna sound weird but a relative comfortably drives a Plymouth Neon - he's like 6' 8". Another friend is 6'6" and drives a Toyota Avalon - he wanted something that didn't have to have a console that bumped into his right leg. Style is out there.

Hmm, I'm sort of coveting a used Range Rover. Hey, try out a A6 for size.

If I'm reading this right, you're saying you got promoted? Congratulations! :rose:
A different company. It's a step or two up from what I do now. I /do/ feel a little anxious about telling my employer I'm leaving, though. I /am/ a fiercely loyal person at heart.

Audi's are big, from what I've seen and very sparkly and sleek.

You so need to watch Top Gear :D

Yes!!!! I'm so happy for you!

And you're so sweet, but I'm sure the place you're at will understand...though they'll miss you, I'm sure of that, too. Loyalty is good, but all in al I'm sure they've seen this day coming.

Oh, we need a :nana: no doubt about it.

congrats

Joe,

I think that is great....... I hope this gives you the means to travel and live as you would like...

I still think about your birthday gift video that you posted sometime back from time to time....

As it happens... I may be taking some friends down to Neuschwanstein in a few weeks..... I am determined to take a look for your rock.... I will not disturb it, of course...... It would be excellent were it still to be there.... Unlike your young and healthy self, however, I do plan on riding the wagon up the hill...... :) I did that hike once... but now it must wait a knee replacement...

Congratulations.... again... and the best of luck..

That's great news to start my week!

If you make it England, let us Brits know where and when.

Coolness, Joe.

And maybe it was time to move on anyway, considering someone hurled a tornado through your last/current place of jobbage. I'd take that as a sign.

Great news . . . congratulations. If you travel to Chicago, let me know and I'll show you the town. I'll even let you buy me a beer . . . I know it's supposed to work the other way, but since you make a butt-load more than me you're on your own. ;)

I understand the nerves. I'm loyal too, so I've also had problems telling employers that I'm leaving them for someone else. But really, I hope this works out for you, and congratulations again! *hugs*
