I think we need to talk about words we love (even if we don't use them all the time).
Words I love-
fuck, fucking
clever
bloody (the Brit usage)
shag (the Brit usage)
fabulous

What are yours?

如果想念不再喧闹了, 休息一下闭上眼睛安静下来...

I spotted this on the other languages thread, it's beautiful to look at, no idea what most of it means but this obviously means 'fuck knows'.

"Redolent" strikes me as a perfectly beautiful word. It always reminds me of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" for some reason.

"Langorous" - much the same effect.

"Sensual." Beautiful meaning, beautiful sound.

"Ripe." Perfect sound for the word, and so many applications, especially in erotic/romantic prose.

"Pomegranate." It has Wilde associations for me, and it's just a rich, full-sounding word. It conjures up images of Art Nouveau tree and bough designs.

"Sesquipedalia" - because Cantdog is brilliant. ;) I'm thinking of making up a T-shirt that just says "Mitigates Sesquipedalia." (See limericks thread.)

I like the word "delicious" . It just feels good rolling off my tongue. To me, it feels and sounds like it's meaning.

NUDE

It's one of those rare words that are both unambiguous and sensual.

Oh, yeah, that and Banana Pudding.

mooch

caress

velvet

are three that jump to mind..I'll come back with more...

Chawl
I think this is a made-up word, but it's a verb for when someone's eating in a disgusting way - when they suck at mouthfuls of their food, before depositing them on the side of the plate, and when they leave crusts etc behind. I think it's a combination of "chew" and "maul". In a sentence it might appear as:
"He sat there chawling away at his plate".

Spew

Rat bastard

Dobie........(dough-bee) Got that from Crocodile Dundee, I like to use it instead of asshole especially when driving. :)

peon (pee-on) :D

I quite fancy a chawl right now.

I'm looking at your av. You're saying that to me, aren't you?
Dream on, Sub Joe.

CUSP never did anything for me. I always think its a shortened version of bicuspid.

I'll see Shang's 'langorous' and will raise the horsey a 'languid' and a 'lavicious'.

L words are good in general - loquacious, lickable, love, luck. It's almost enough for me to give credence to John Wisehammer's one-l theory from 'Our Country's Good', but for the exception - solilique. That one just rolls beautifully from the tongue.

The Earl <--- One L!

PS. Has anyone actually read 'Our Country's Good' or was that reference over everyone's head?

Yes, that's why I love it.

Joe, you need help, or to become a dentist.

"You have a talent for causing things pain. / So be a dentist / People will pay you to be inhumane ..."

sluice - it's wet, it's slick, it's juicy. Hell of a word.

When Perdita was here, we had a big thing about Aztec words: Tlaloc, Queztalcoatl, Teotihuacan, Hwitzlilipochti, axolotl. Lots of mouth fun there.

I find my solace then in bottles,
And I forget them axolotls.
