So here are a poets words…….. Where did they come from…. Does it really matter if we ever find out. As long as the conception of them was pleasing to the writers soul and others might enjoy what message or messages that might be in entwined in the words…..

A poet laughed when once told, ‘you can’t write about that, you are a married person in a committed relationship’. Ha! Who said that Stephen King went out and tortured and maimed to conceive the plot for his next book. Who said just becasue a contented person’s written words are about unfilled lust, that their loins must not be as satisfied as what their spoken words say.

Relax and enjoy poetry for what it is. A playful tune of words. Just like music, we do not all like the same tune. Variety is what makes the world go round…..

It is up to the poet who puts the words there if they are fact or fiction. It is the unknown of those words that may tantalises the reader to what the poet was actually stating.

Too many people get hung up on what is written down. With poetry do not over analyse it, just relax and enjoy the words by finding a meaning that is in tune with you. If you don’t like the tune, then move on baby there’s more.

Imagine if Ben Jonson had not written that drinking from a cup could be more than looking for wine or Kris Kristofferson had not sung ‘Are you a figment of my imagination or I one of yours’.

If we never unwind to read or view what might never be played out in our own lives, then we may never experience the full potential of what our souls might enjoy………..

Truer words a rarely written T. And I needed to read them.

A great teacher of mine once read a poem to our class. I asked for copy of it. He simply handed me his whole book and said take it, read it, enjoy it, it is now yours. It was one of his books from his college days and had all sorts of notes and observations written in the margins. I tried to refuse, but he insisted and told me something I will never forget.

There is not a shortage of good poetry in the world, only a shortage of good people who read it. Take the book enjoy the words as they are written.

I still take that book down and browse the words written there.

It is like classical music.. if people only relaxed it would awaken their souls......
