I'm using Word Pad and find there is no separation of paragraphs when I submit my story despite having the paragraph separation. I think I can fix this by double-spacing the paragraphs, but I wonder if there may be another way to solve this?

Double return at the end of each paragraph should do it.

I had the same problem ages ago, and double return is now my default. I've found several different sites taking text have the same glitch - a double return always fixes the problem.

Thanks, EB, and Millie, I'd love to switch to one or the other...at this stage, I can't manage it...but I'm sure you are right.

Try LibreOffice it's a word clone and free. It has a basic spell and grammar checker built into it.

You can download it here LibreOffice you can save in .doc, .docx, and maybe .rtf

Since I use my Kindle and the Appstore sucks for apps on it, I use notepad. It's not meant for my stories but it works beautifully for me.

Use a proper word processor. Word Pad is for notes, not writing.

Word pad or any plain text editor works great. My text editor even has word counts. You do have to manually tag everything but manual tags have the least fuckups when uploading anyways so I always use them. Especially if I'm uploading to multiple sites. This site will take a certain file, this one won't, this one only takes a different kind, but all sites have an input box that you can paste into and check the preview and it never fails. At most you might have to find/replace/change all </>s into [/]s which takes a minute tops. So manual tagging is really the safest and most reliable method, so yes you can totally write in wordpad, notepad, textpad whatever.

This trick works in Word, but I don't think it does in Word Pad.

If it does, by selecting "Replace all", you can easily replace a single carriage return with two of them throughout the entire file.

My stories aren't meant for here. So, whatever other software is used by the publisher for editing and formating works with Word. Even if I used the others, he'd pull them into word to work on them for publications. Besides I suck at HTML.

So I've taken Millies advice and I am now using Libre Office...So I did copy and paste from Wordpad to Libre, and now should I expect that when I submit my story to Literotica, I will not have any problems with the paragraph spacing that I had with Wordpad?

Wordpad is just big Notepad, they're like writing in the submission text box, compared to a word processor, that's like writing in this textbox.

You shouldn't.

Thank you..I have for a few years used wordpad, and my biggest complaint has been the paragraph spacing when submitted.

I have great success with RTF formatting coming out almost identical to what I intended it to be. Most of the time, it is because I fucked up, not the conversion process. Happy writing to you!

Well I downloaded Libre...but I still want to open Docs in word pad and Windows 10 insists on offering me Libre and not wordpad..Anyone have any idea how in the heck to solve that.

You should be able to choose what you want underneath it. It wants to open it in Wordpad because it was created that way, is my guess. Open Libre and open the documents from its drop-down menu. Once you have opened them and saved them from it, that should be the default in time.

EDIT: if you right click and chose open with, you should be able to pick Libre...

Thank you/..

I tried but couldn't keep it from opening in Libre! I'm not happy with Libre cut copy paaste

I like wordpad..right click on the mouse and done
and I like the zoom on wordpad, as opposed to Libre...anyway I dumped libre out.

I was hoping I could work in wordpad and transfer to libre..but they tell me short of being a pc guru

Libre can open all the file formats that Word or Wordpad do. Also, Libre can save to all the same formats. But everyone has their own preferences. I'll stick with Word.

I'm not sure how to help you. I've never had a problem copy/pasting anything itno Libre from anything, text docs, forum sites, htlm, chat converastions, nor have I ever had any issues copy/pasting out of Libre and into anything else. Ctrl-a, ctrl-c, ctrl-v doesn't work? (shrug)
