Anyone know a good program to count words? I have word perfect which is a cheap version of word. It isn't bad except for the lack of word count.

I don't know what you mean

I use WordPerfect 2002, put out by Corel, and it has probably the best word counter I have ever encountered.

Not only will it count characters, words, sentences, lines, paragraphs, and pages, but it will also give you the average word length, the average number of words per sentence, and the maximum number of words per sentence.

If you do, in fact, have Corel’s WordPerfect, look for the word count feature under “Properties”– "Information.”

Otherwise, don’t call it word perfect, because that is a trade name.

WordPerfect has had a word count feature back as far as Version 5.1, which was intended to be used with DOS.

=====================================================================

537 characters 114 words 6 sentences 6 paragraphs

WordPerfect is better than Word, in my opinion. Wordpad is a cheap knock off of Word. WordPerfect is a more powerful word processor with some hella bells and whistles. You should consider running the tutorial found in the help section. Everyone uses Word because of that fabbo Bill Gates Bundled Software Monopoly the DOJ kicked in the nertz. I've found Corel products to be worth the money.

You can get the word count by clicking on File then Properties then the information tab.

Thank you oh so much. I looked all over wordperfect for word count and when I finally gave up you saved me.

I now totally agree, wordperfect is better then word, I just hope the Microsoft Empire doesn't censor this.

WP ain't a cheap version of Word.
I've used several versions of WP, and they all had a
word-count feature. Have you tried the spellchecker?

when I use claris works spell check on my shitty other computer it tells me how many words it's checked for spelling, thus counting my words, even though it doesn't officially have a "word count" feature

I agree with what's been said so far, but thought I'd give you all a giggle: I've just gone back to WordStar 4, so I can use my 1990s Amstrad portable while I'm away in the truck. That has an external word counter called WC.EXE (no scat!) - it works on any file...

:)

MS-Word: File > Properties > Statistics

I thought it had gone down for the count :(

Claris  wasn't that the name of the Mummy in the old Warner Brothers horror movie?
