I've been invited to join the Clinical Psychology PhD program! And get paid for it!

Oh, God, this is what I've been hoping for for two fucking years. It'll be a five to six year PhD program. I can live with that. Especially if it means I get paid!

Personal gloaty dance.

Wow...I don't know exactly what it all means but Yay for you!!!Getting paid for something you want to do has got to be one of the ultimate good things :)

Means I don't have to take out 100,000 in student loans to get my PhD and it'll only take me about 5 more years. PhD by 28. And, no need for side jobs, I can sell my advertising company and stop teaching classes and just go back to research/doctoral work.

And make a living doing it.

I don't know that there are words to express how big it is for me.

Woo hoo times two Joe! Very well done! If you can't find words to express it it must be MASSIVE! Well done!

Congrats Joe! That's fabulous news. Doing a little happy dance for you right here in my living room!

I'm happy for you, Joe. (It's not logical, but I really truly am.)

CONGRATULATIONS!

My most sincere and heartfelt congratulations. There is no easy path to that goal, and those are always the ones most worth reaching.

Truly an amazing opportunity, Joe. Best of luck in all you attempt.

That's fantastic, Joe! Congratulations!!

Does this mean you'll be writing more or less erotica???

Congratulations Joe. I'm happy for you and wish you the best.

Just out of curiosity, if I'm not being too nosey, who is paying you to get your PhD and why?

I'm 28 now, and I just began working onna PhD. No, I'm not jealous. ;)

Congrats Joe! :) Happy for you. Good luck with the studies!

Personally I would never even attempt a PhD. Done the studying thing for the past, eh, 15.5 years. Just want a bloody job right now so I can actually develop into an adult. ;)

Nice one Joe. Glad that your hard work's paid off and bloody well done. Now go and get drunk.

Call it a study in human behaviour. Then you'll get paid for it :D.

It's not worth the hooplah. Oh wait. I'm no adult, so wtf do I know?

Its being paid privately, based on some preliminary things I've been doing for the last couple of years in behavioral and (oddly) a combination of personality and educational psych. That I come from a strong philosophy background helps a lot, the philosophy of science in general and the ethics of the field are really interesting subjects that are demanding a lot of attention.

I used to be, when I was a kid, one of those little child geniuses you saw on Donahue. Skipped a bunch of grades, hit college before I could legally drive, etc. So, as side projects, I got into some work with educational psychology and philosophy, won some awards, and just now have the time to devote myself to my PhD work. It was great that their time table finally lined up.

Sounds like somebody wanted you badly, which is usually a good thing. Good luck to you, Joe.
